How to Sound Like a Fiddle Player- Fiddle Bowing Patterns

  • Part of the difference between playing the violin and playing the fiddle is how you use the bow. In this video, I share some key bowing patterns. They will liven up your playing. I'm playing June Apple. Any fiddle tune with a lot of eighth notes will work.

    Great video- limiting this to 3 bowing variations kept it from getting overwhelming. Everyone wants to jump right in to left-handed ornamentation, but changing up some of the bowing patterns is an easy start (and adds interest to the piece as well). Thanks.
