Hi Glyn Love your wheels, this is going to be one very special Classic 350 when it’s finished. These wee bikes are just such fun to play around with, and give such a lot of satisfaction. Rebuilds like yours definitely have there high and low points. Now that you’re poised to start putting it back together again, the enthusiasm will return, as will the sunshine hopefully. Keep your spirits up, you’re an inspiration. Many thanks for mentioning my channel, much appreciated. Take care Tiger Ness
Thanks very much Ian, great to hear from you 👍 I'm excited to get it back together (or on it's wheels at least), I think it might be more like an adventure bike seat height wise! Might need to have a low seat just to get my leg over it 😜
I have periods when I feel no motivation and I just pass until the wind blows in a different direction; better too wait until you feel inspired once again 👍. As for the parts and prices I'd say that's exceptional value, over the years I've had many parts powder coated and as you say the finish is just top notch 👍
Welcome back Glyn. I was getting serious G.O withdrawal symptoms. That was an amazingly WOW episode. Incredible steps forward. On the brass ring, find someone with a small lathe that can turn it down, including the flat inside edge. Very easy job. Update on the Meteor gear change upgrade. The results are fantastic. I don't have any excess play anywhere and the gear change is super slick and smooth now. Best 40 quid I ever spent. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks Tim, nice to hear from you 🙏 I'd love a lathe to go at that with, haven't used one of those for years. I'll have an ask about 👍 Glad your Meteor is working well, they're a good solid bike aren't they
Hi Glyn, nice set of wheels you got there now, the stainless spokes really ping 😍and make em look quality, going to be a lovely bike when finished, good you don’t rush anything (unlike myself) and there is a lot of thought into what your going to do next which makes interesting viewing 👍 good to see you back 😁👍👍 cheers Bruce
Thanks very much Bruce, it had better work out haha I think those forks are off the bike you have the engine out of so we've kind of got the same bike but in two different places 🤪 I have a lot of your films to catch up on so looking forward to that 🌞
You know the expression :"nice set of wheels you got there". Now, folks will literally be talking about your wheels! Back in 1979 when I still lived in France, I did bend the fork on my Suzuki TS125. I found a shop that was able to straighten the fork tubes. It worked great and wasn't very expensive. Of course, I had to take the forks apart. Anyway, finding an extra set for the price you paid was a great deal indeed. Funny what you said about waking up hours later and wondering if it was all a dream. It happens to me once in a while to do something in the middle of the night and not remember right away as I wake up. Sorry about your 4 legged friend. It takes a while to recover. I have been there. Nice to see you back online!
Thanks very much for coming back 👍 Bending them back was my plan Z but I'm glad I didn't get to have to do that although I could try for novelty value, I'm sure it would be passable if you were really on your uppers! cheers, Glyn
Looks absolutely amazing. This build is certainly going to be top notch,as I am becoming to expect from you. It's going to be something very special when it's all comes together. Going to be interesting with the mudguard relocation can't wait.
Thanks David, if it comes out as I'm hoping I think it'll be really good, Lidl have got a little welder on sale, I might need one for the mudguard, any excuse eh - not that I'm a welder.....
Hi Glyn. Great video & great to see you're back. Condolences for loss of your pet- I recently lost my Lab too. Longer daylight & warmer weather will be with us in earnest soon, which always makes life feel so much better. Take good care. John 👍
Hi Glyn, great to see you back with another fascinating video! Worst thing you could do is try to force out a video when you really aren't in the mood. Do it when you feel up to it. We will all be here.
Hi Glyn, so pleased to have you back. I'm a recent new subscriber and I've been binge watching your videos and become totally hooked, so your absence has given me withdrawal symptoms but I'm very sorry to hear you have lost your pet. Being busy at work is something I have forgotten as I'm lucky to be retired, so I'm very grateful for the time and effort you but into your videos. That's enough of my rambling but must say the bike is going to be a-ma-zing 👍
Great video Glyn. These wheels with these tyres, are definitely going to put a build with a difference.😊 These you showed us all that fantastic powered coated finish, this gonna be an exciting build from now own. The brass parts, hopefully will blend in with the build. Great find on the front forks. And the blue box, with the cam…….funky Dunky. (I still got mine + extras to get fitted. But the weather not giving us, dry enough days. My body wants warmer and dry too…..lol So looking forward to your down to earth Classic build.❤
Thanks very much Mark, I'm so glad I didn't have to paint them, it wouldn't have been a patch on how they are now, will have to be so careful handling them! Thanks for the heads up on the cam, might end up the worlds fastest Classic once it's working!
Hi Glynn, that's going to look awesome when finished. I quite like the idea of the brass detailing to go with the chrome. If you are looking for badge ideas for the side panels perhaps check out the tank badges from the signals green edition, I reckon they would look great on there and would compliment all the other brass detailing. What a cracking job they have made of the wheel/tyre combination, exceptional quality. Think you'll perhaps need to rethink the rear mudguard set up too with that wheel?🤔 Look torward to the next instalment.🙂👍
Thanks very much Jonathan, I'll have to up my game to make it as good as the wheels now 👍 That's right, Signals do have a badge there don't they, I'll have to go and have a look at that. Stickers are never a waste anyway, can always end up on something 👍 I know the front mudguard will need altering but am hopeful the rear might just work out. Hope your Aurora is going well
Hi Glyn, Another great video and worth waiting for! I always look forward to your next instalment. Went out on my Classic today and it was warm and dry - at last! All the best
I've commented already, But I was just watching the bit about your tyres being larger, You do realise you can buy the, 16 tooth cog conversion for the Classic Reborn, Meteor and a Hunter, I've fitted it to my Hunter and it is brilliant, Although I wouldn't fit them on bike's folks are going to be riding two up though,👍 Cheers Paul Foster
@@GlynOC I imagine from what you've said, if you put all your free flow mods and Cam on, And you were to put the 16 cog conversion on as well, you might be able to get your New Custom Bullet up to 90 mph 👍 That would be great Glyn, I await your next video, great stuff, Cheers Paul 👍
@@GlynOC I've also fitted a 16 tooth cog to my Interceptor, and although I mainly ride at 60/70 mph I've had it up to over 105mph (not on the King's highway of course), And there was revs to spare, and as I say I've fitted one to my Hunter, But it's only got about 650 miles on it, So I've not really had a chance to test it, But I definitely think it's worth fitting one, Cheers Paul 👍
Given that the bigger wheels will mess up the speedo readings on the display, which I assume is the main reason for not fitting the Hunter throttle bodies/ECU (maybe). So will you also be giving that a try?
You never know, it might just make the speedo accurate! I don't think the Hunter throttle body works on the Classic, throws up error codes apparently. 78mph will be fine for me anyway!
It's going to be interesting to see how those wheels will affect the look of the bike, I can't decide if I think they will make it look bigger or smaller? And very sorry to hear about the loss of your cat.
Thanks mate. I think in person the bike will look bigger (and taller!!!) but in pictures and video it'll look smaller because your brain will think the wheels are normal and everything else it little. It might look a little odd but too late now haha
Just an idea but if the forks are OK then they may have come from a bike that has been rear ended. With that in mind, did you contact the seller to see if he had the ignition switch and scutcheon ? Not an option if it was stolen/recovered and you've probably already thought of that but worth a try.
That is a good idea but the only thing this bike had missing was the bloody shroud which had been ripped off when it was stolen, typical. Luckily it hadn't been crashed though so those forks were good👍
The powder coating looks fantastic Glyn. Can't wait to see this one come together. Really sorry to hear about you cat mate and that life is a bit stressful for you. The constant rain is certainly not helping. I think I might be to blame for that as I recently bought some SPF50 sunscreen for the summer and will be getting a new Bullet 350 at the end of the month......so clearly my fault 😉 Keep your pecker and brass nickel plated nipples up old chap. Things will get better.
It's going to be a great looking bike!! BUT , and threres always a but, ___ but, it's got to be done. Powder coat the frame, and swinging arm etc , if you dont you will look at it forever, and wish you had. Trust me. Rgds Mike N
You take things beyond the very imagination Glyn well done.
Thanks Alan, I do spend a lot of time thinking about it haha, probably more than doing!
