I can't thank you enough for this excellent video! Taking your time to show how to remove all the clips is just the kind of thing we inexperienced DIY'ers need to avoid us pulling our hair out. The whole process is just wonderfully explained.
Just used this video as a guide to do this job and found a GDL sticker on the back of the car at the end of it, so its like you guys are still helping them even after they have left! thanks very much for the help! btw customer only came to me because they moved state, they spoke very highly of the quality of care and work they got from GDL 👌
And I see why someone broken the studs off the throttle body. On the long brackets the fron one was easy enough but the back appears to have a press on nut to hold an AC bracket totally preventing access to the lower nut to loosen it. To the engineer who designed this, I salute you 🖕
Thank you so much, Dannie! This was a great video, along with the wiper cowling. I took a chance doing this repair myself! While I felt prepared and definitely got great tips here, it was a tough job. Tip for others - make sure you have the oil and fluid temperature sensors in your housing! I ordered from Mopar and didn’t realize they were missing until I ripped the old one out 😅 managed to get the needed parts and get the job done. Took us about 8 hours all in, but worth the experience and money saved at the stealership! Thank you mate, thank you!!
Do you have another video showing the removal of the wiper cowling? Neither of the videos above actually shows the process. Your tutorial on the parts exchange is excellent!
I went with the doorman all aluminum. Mine was such a pain in the ass i went ahead and did the coil packs and iridium plugs. Oil change fluid top off and put it all back together... Only thing I did different was take off the wiper assembly and drop the cowel valance to give more room to work with
Loved the video, couldn’t have done this job without it. Just my two cents though, removing the wiper cowl is not necessary. Yes it will significantly help in the removal of some bolts and hoses but you can get it done without removing it. A small 1/4 inch ratchet with variable size extensions was really all I needed. Some of those Christmas trees were a pain and most of them broke. Other than that I think the average DIYer is going to save a significant amount of time by not removing the wiper cowl. Awesome video though, thanks!
Helpful video, thanks! My 2018 Grand Cherokee intake manifold configuration is notably different than the one in this video. I can't seem to find all the bolt locations to remove the intake manifold. Any help greatly appreciated!
I had a question I have a Jeep grand Cherokee 2015 diesel 3.0 turbo has both sides head gaskets damaged do you recommend i should follow the instructions you show me. Coolant gets hot but doesn’t have leaking has a lot of oil leaks over the transmission. If you could please get back to me with information it would help me a lot thanks very much for the video as well ❤❤
Please tell about reaching the rear, hard to reach 10mm. nuts at the right rear, and the 13mm left side, related to removing the upper portion of the intake manifold. Thank you.
Great video thanks so much! Replaced the cooler but now my oil pressure is 25 psi where before it was idle at 30 - 32 psi and getting slight knock. Any idea where I went wrong?
You don’t have to remove the wiper deal at all I had the most trouble with one bolt and it was holding the upper intake right by the throttle body, it only took me about 1 minute longe than the rest of them. Waste of time
so it does not make a difference? I ask because I recently watched the wiper cowling removing video and omg it seems like just as much work as removing the oil cooler!
On a scale from 1-10 for difficulty changing this, 10 being the toughest? Also, how long can I put this off if I just noticed it leaking oil? Doesn’t seem like I’m losing that much according to the dip stick.
Just finished the oil cooler replacement with dorman as i am having smell when revving high up hill, only up hill, I thought was some oil in the valley. but the smell still there all started with a cracked thermostat housing. Doesn't seems to have leaks but the smell is still there do you know what else i could check?
The grey temperature sensor. What is it for. I m battling with a jk 36 overheating. Replaced everything my radiator fans running full speed but heat gauge fluctuations
@@GDLautoblog Did you guys come up with anything on using the Dorman Aluminum Oil Cooler?? Just wondering if it’s worth trying or just going with the OEM Oil cooler
Hi Dannie, Does the diesel have the same issue with the oil cooler? would you recommend preventive maintenance change over of the oil cooler on a diesel WK2?
They do fail in the diesels. They are located mounted on the side of the engine under the air intake. Not to hard to change. When these fail they fill the cooling system with oil rather than leak externally
Wow I tried this on Saturday. I got 5 of the fuel injectors disconnected but the drivers side fuel injector all the way in the back defeated me. Took me 9 hours to get to that point. Finally said F it and quit. I have a 2016 Jeep GC. Any tips on how to get that back one out?
Man, my fault for the foam mattress as I forgot. Till I let video play till last second and you went back and put it on….. FML… could’ve edit video man fml lol😢😂
Is there anything in here that would be disconnected causing brakes to not work? I just replaced the oil cooler and followed all the steps, car starts and runs but brake pedal is stiff and won't move. Could I have unhooked something?
Quick question, my jeep has oil leak going into the radiator and cooling reservoir. It has a brownish sticky color. There is no sign of being in my oil tank. I’ve checked the dip stuck and it has its original color. Could replacing the oil cooler be the solution or is it the head gaskets? Thank you in advance!
these engine do blow head gaskets. Do a TK test first. If the TK test reveals nothing i would do a cooler first, if fault continues you may need to pull the heads
air lock in the cooling system. make sure you have bleed the air out properly. if it overheated prior to replacing it there is a possibility you have done cylinder head or head gasket damage. Bleed the air out first, if its still cooking, do a TK test
I have a 2011 jeep grand cherokee and started leaking colant from the hose what could be? Bad hose or bad oil cooler? Its not leaking oil just coolant.
Could be either. Normally they leak oil first but I have seen a Couple leak coolant. That hose is common to leak. Probably best to remove the manifold and then pressure test it. This will tell you
@gdlautomotiveservices6569 I just did put pressure on the radiator and the leak is coming from the oil cooler or hose just need drain the coolant and check the hose hopefully 😅.
@@MrRealityExposed About 1400. For that but while he had the intake off I also had him replace spark plugs @ 35 a piece. I also had brakes down all the way around and all new lug studs. Total for everything was about 2000
This old one is definitely an aftermarket and it didnt last. However I disagree with the OEM replacements as they have been through 5 revisions and will probably have a 6th, why? Plastic. Given the OEM is still plastic I'm going to risk it and use an aluminum aftermarket one. I do appreciate your efforts though as you made this a LOT less intensive then the last video I watched of someone doing it. Now to find the video of removing the wiper cowl.
