Oh wow! Totally relatable. Had my share of losses too. Since November, every week I buy more of whatever is the lowest percentage of my portfollo and try to keep everything around 10%. Till now, I still dont know what could be my safest buys with $400k to outperform the market in 2024.
In your case, think you need a financial planner straight up! personally, I would invest in etf and also love investing in individual stocks. yes it’s riskier but I'm comfortable in my financial environment.
No doubt, having the right plan is invaluable, my portfolio is well-matched for every season of the market and recently hit 100% rise from early last year. I and my CFP are working on a 7 figure ballpark goal, tho this could take till Q1 2024.

Thank you so much for being vulnerable and honest and showing what it really is to be a trader. There are great weeks and most often I think you have good to great weeks. But it's the hard and sideways moving weeks that can get to the beginner trader, especially when you don't have a lot of wins under their belt.

I was trained not to get in on initial break outs, always wait for pull backs, 3:54 but even after the pull back to that supply zone, sellers still brought price lower. 😅
I admire your discipline Ben. It doesn't matter what happens after you are done with your window of trading..even if the price goes 100 points after...you are done for the day...and you didn't find your set up. I admire that

Hi, so relatable. in my situation I am hopeful the trade would reverse. I entered the selling position on US100 @16,734.0 before the holidays, things spinned so fast and the bulls took the market back - surge in stock prices @16,9xx.
I am worried because I am about to go in a loss. But I am hopeful the sellers get their angle back.
Trading is a tough job!
Edit: I had to walk away counting my losses so my account doesn't blow. But like DTA inspires us we go again!
When you hope it’s gonna go back up and you stay in , you risk a bigger loss especially without a stop loss . Best to break even if you can or get out before your stop loss if your scalping .

I can't believe this happened to you. I've been doing this full time for three years, no classes, self taught, watching videos, books and investopedia. This month so far I have netted $105, 306. For the year my net is $334,740. And I still don't know anything. Still learning.

Brotha the last month of the year is difficult to trade due to tax capturing. The chart actually don’t mean anything during December, especially the last week.

I suggest flipping to a higher time frame once you’re in a trade, to keep price action noise from eroding your conviction. Especially during the choppy, low volume around the holidays. Trades can often take much longer to gain traction in a direction. So flip to the 30min or 1Hr charts and just let the trade work until one of your stops is hit. Be convicted, accept the outcome, and give the statistical probabilities of your strategy a chance to workout in your favor, over time. That will mean occasional losers.

5 min chart every time is CRAZY. You have a large account and u are a scalper too. Most people can't trade your style in my opinion because they won't have the right mentality due to their account size. 15 min will work better for the common aspiring trader.

Still better odds than gambling but like in many ways. Old fear greed and that Adrenaline Rush. I remember when I first start trading what a rush! I wonder are you distracted about other things. Typically, I am when I start losing consistently so I noticed and or swinging for the fences or staying in the game too long and over trading. Pulled me out of the whole of few times but its emotional roller coaster. Ain't no life wrestling with that stuff all day. Quite a few big rug pulls the last couple of weeks we haven't seen that for a while.

You probably don't want to read this, but there were great opportunities that week, and for some reasons you didn't see them. Right there in the screens you show. I took avantage of them (Except that it was on the DJIA), made +8.6% which isn't much but I am careful. So, I would really consider changing my strategy if I were you. Sorry!
