The fact that you've got 100 copies from a variety of secondhand places tells me you just bought a collection of rejects from someone who was trawling for a minuet edition. That's like buying a box of pre-scratched lottery tickets.
Once went through all the valuable pokémon cards I owned and sell them and then I sold the rest of them off as a singular lot.
I was thinking the same thing. Surely someone who would be selling 100 copies had the same idea.
Not necessarily. You never know why someone is selling all those.
@@adamclark6524 You would never know for sure, that's right. But it IS reasonable to assume based on experience of being in this business for so long. This wasn't grandma's box of Tetris games if you know what I mean.
Pre scratched lottery tickets you say? Sir I would like to purchase your lottery tickets for $1,000,000
I'd love a copy of Tetris signed by you, mate!
seconded!
Giveaway? 😳
Great Idea!
Bung them in eBay as signed copies.
One random numbered 1/100 signed copy £5!?
I can get behind this movement 👍🏻😂 do it mate
I got one! I bought 2 minuet versions off him a while ago and asked him to sign one! I framed it 😂
Time to build a real life Tetris out of Tetris games
they hate real people, you should build it online
Bro that would be a sick wall piece, a bunch of tetris games at the bottom in a frame and some backwards to represent the pieces and four in air falling to a make an L piece
That's funny because actually, I bought a box of 100 Tetris myself a couple of months ago. So we might have bought from the same seller. I did the exact same thing and found exactly ONE Minuet version out ouf the 100. The seller's name consisted of a color and an animal.
Another thing though that I did find out recently is, it's not always 100% a newer version if the tower top isn't between the LL. I've recently come across a really yellowed Tetris that I wanted to sell cheap in a "crap lot" and it had the tower top like a regular 1.1. When I put in in the Game Boy to test it quickly, I was stumped to hear the Minuet theme. I checked the number and the inside and sure enough, it was a genuine Minuet verison. The number on the front was a 22 (without an A) which is very odd too as most Minuet versions are either 05, 09 or 23. Meanwhile, many of the newer versions have the number 22A. So yeah, just wanted to share my experiences and some information on the subject. I was really hoping you'd find at least one.
Greetings, Nik
Solid info! Well, all hope isn't lost. He just needs to test each one now, lol.
@@Lost_n_Found_1 no, he just needs to check the number. Like I said, it was a 22 (without the A) which indicates a Minuet version, even though all other ones I came across so far have 05, 09 or 23. So the 22 might be the rarest among the Minuet versions.
@@ncontrolstore I was just making a joke, asshole.
Not gonna lie I really appreciate you still making the video and putting it out even if it was a dud. Can't be a winner every time, and helps dispel the "magic" around RUclips creators.
@@BIayneI appreciate that he even acknowledged that he could have done that but still didn’t
The youtube revenue was the goal from the start. Japanese people are smart enough to check for this themselves if it;s $200+ for 10 minutes work
Some people buy lootboxes in video games to get a 1%% chance rare drop, Elliot buys 100 copies of Tetris for a chance to get a Minuet version.
Yeah he was grinding for that rare drop
except he had 0% chance
Sign 100 copies of Tetris and sell them as limited edition collectable merch 😅
You know what would be cool, be the first to restore 100 copies of Tetris to as nice of condition as you can
why you need that ?
@@lucasrem Why not? You have 100 Copies of Tetris in mostly poor condition, have you ever seen someone restore 100 copies of Tetris?
Just wait till the sun comes out in about May/June, then lay them all outside (uncovered by glass or plastic) for about 5 days, that will restore much of the colour of the plastic on the side that's facing the sun.
@@trailersicWouldn't the label fade though?
@@Z64bitNot in that short a time with the sunshine we get in England
I'm glad you re-uploaded. It got deleted halfway through me watching it! 😂
Same
Same here
He later destroy all the copies, including the valuable ones, with the paint fumes of a motorbike that was restoring in the attic where he place all the games...
Coins and stamps sometimes contain errors which make them more valuable than regular versions. The errors are tiny though, sometimes impossible to see with naked eye. EBay sellers advertise “unsearched” lots to try to make you think that they haven’t already picked thru and found the errors. They are NEVER “unsearched”.
Just like things are never "untested" lol
yeah of course they aren't. especially if they say it isn't then of course it is. like, think about it. why would someone end up with 100 copies of 1 game, specifically tetris and sell them off as a dump lot.
because that person had 100 kids...@@lasskinn474
@@ihave7sacksI sell untested game because it don’t own the console for them lol
I didn’t know that stating that could be a deterrent. I will just not say anything one way or the other.
@@FlipHappens but you wouldn't buy 100 copies of a game you don;t have a console for . So you would NEVER sell a lot like this. At most you would sell a bundle of various games for a console that you don't have, but somehow acquired in a bigger collection that also had stuff you were after.
"Does anyone want a copy of Tetris?"
Yes please! I actually don't own a copy at all, and I would love having one from you of all people.
thought the exact same thing haha!
Somehow I was reminded of the Monty Python cheese shop sketch with all the "no"s.
And of course people who are in the business of selling used games would prescreen for rarities before they sell a huge lot of them, especially if you can spot the minuet version in such a pile in a matter of five minutes.
TURN THAT BLOODY BAZOOKIE OFF!!!
I would have just assumed the person selling it already took out any copies that were worth anything. It would be like selling an "untested" laptop and expecting it to actually be working.
I buy "untested" stuff that works fairly regularly. But I never expect it to
I've had a surprising amount of untested vintage laptops spring into life, the last job lot I bought (all untested with no chargers) had 3 out of 4 working. Had a ton of bargains often won for 99p start bids.
More like buying returns pallets or buckets of dirt with a chance of finding gold. It's done by companies for profit. You'd never get profit outta that.
Japanese are one of the few nations that are so rigorous that if they find a value you can be sure they WILL take advantage of it.
Music players, albums, consoles etc. are abundant there due to sheer supply often exceeding NA & EU, sometimes both of them combined, hence why some of these items are A LOT cheaper than outside japan. But rare, collectible items will be more expensive, due to higher demand & collectors.
That weird faded decal was pretty cool though!
Frame them in a 10x10 arrangement, would make cool wall art for the studio.
that was my idea too!! Whenever I get loads of something useless, I always try to make it into a piece of art. I made a wall from 218 computer motherboards once, that were thrown away. And I got my hands on 2000 COVID 19 test kits that were past their date, didn;t know what to do with it, but I gave them to a local artist for a project.
He should build the words "No Minuet" out of them!
So glad I grabbed my copies of the minuet version a few years ago!
So it was you. You're the one who took all the minuet copies and sold Elliot the rest.
Never seen your channel before, but as a Tetris LOVER, I had to watch and am now subbed. Great video, I had no idea about the different revisions. I guess that just gives me another thing to scour the local game store for.
Glad to see you’ve been hard at work making videos for your channels again mate!
You are kind of my hero. I love collecting numerous copies of cheap games. You hit it BIG here.
why Why WHY W H Y ?????
You just just answered a long time question I had never thought to look into. I always thought, "huh, I don't remember that song from tetris." I dismissed it, like maybe I just missed it in the options. Just pulled out my copy and it is the Minuet version. So mystery solved.
THX for sharing!
be sure to also check the stamps. minuet version exists with correct numeric stamp and wrong spire location
Either this is hopefully, or some masterful trolling. I look forward to the second vid where he tests them all to find no minuet on there either. :P
@@ZombiWorkshop no troll I have seen it before once.
@@ZombiWorkshop In the eighth vid, he's got an electron microscope and uses AI to sort them.
Elliot: buys 100 copies of tetris
Me: can’t even find one at my local game store 😂
i was trying to get it last month and couldnt too xD
Because of resellers that buy them all and sell them for over 100x the price
It's so common the game stores won't buy it so nobody that wants it has anywhere to buy it
@@Helladamnleet its one of those times when something is so common that it ends up being rare
you are supposed to buy them in japan for $1.57
Thanks for this video there are now 67,000 more people out there that now know the difference and will also be on the lookout
You’re genuinely funny lol I love your stuff
Also I’d buy one if you signed it
When you upload this for youtube shorts and Tiktok, you can call it "Tetris Minuet in a minute"
Amazing that you still uploaded this with the whimpering and didn't fake anything lol. I actually love this
I had to watch to the end and comment to help. It was worth the journey. Cheers
It’s a great day, Elliot uploaded 2 videos! I know I appreciate it, it kinda livens up my boring life (especially since the motorbike video was posted during the school day).
And now I guess you can have the ultimate Tetris tournament, get 50 link cables and 100 gameboys, and have a bracket type thing and see who wins. That would be great for if you ever have any huge parties
That faded one is truly a gem
ima put this video on everytime my son is gonna do something bad. then i dont have to say NO myself. thank you for the Say NO simulator :D
You got hosed, very entertaining vid though one of your best ones, love to see more of these kinda gambles.
I feel your pain... I was sure you'd find a couple in that pile.
The hunt continues!
"Does anybody want a copy of Tetris?"
Yes. Do a gib.
Glue them to your wall in a Tetris pattern.
best purpose for these!
Even though you didn’t get what you wanted. I loved the video, found your commentary quite amusing 🎉
I’ll take a copy please lol. Actually enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing
I get the feeling Ashens could do something with 100 copies of Tetris. I have no idea what, but he'd figure it out.
Will watch the Reupload.... but i still want a copy when your done
Hey. This really made me chuckle....I've been there man! Not with Tetris...but I've been down similar holes and I know how that feels...subscribed 🙂
definitely sell them signed, youl make more than had you found the minuet version. I know I want one! I had a feeling with a lot that big the seller already went thru them. Never underestimate the buyer/sellers ability to find public knowledge.
Nice I love tetris for the nes.
Better than beating Tetris: HAVING AS MANY COPYS OF TETRIS YOU CAN AFFORD!
Elliot makes

Laugh boy. Tough one brother. BUT we love your content and passion. Don’t ever change homie. We lowkey LIVE for this content from you. Thank you brother. Hope life is treating you well 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Fantastic entertainment! :D
Thanks for doing this!

What reupload
I love Tetris
Oddly REALLY enjoyed this video lol, ty for the upload! sorry for no good copies :(
😈😈😈 love this glad you put it back 🙏
Good on you for trying to find another Minuete Tetris, my fellow Tetris player. Big fan of your channel, Elliot. You are a very smart and cool dude. 😊
Exactly what he said! Sign it! I only want an autograph copy by your funny commentary 😂you’re the best
I can see his sanity slipping away the farther in he gets.
Its alright, that dedication earned out respect and views, this was interesting and no doubt was worth it (I think)
This is like looking for a shing pokemon but in the most boring way possible lmao. Glad you shared the video, your commentary was funny.
There is no better feeling than opening a box filled to the brim with gameboy games.
Thank you for having integrity and not planting one
It's a good thing you have so many copies now with the best music.
Can't believe I just watched that entire video but you made it entertaining as always. The Tetris story fascinates me. I just got my old GB from my parents. I would love a sign copy of Tetris from you. EBay them???
I wouldn't mind a copy of Tetris, I just started modding so restoring a gamecard would be a nice practice as well. The faded one looked sick! ;)
Great vid, keep it up (well not the flushing money bit obviously)
Omg would absolutely love one of these copies for my collection. Even better if it was signed by you!
Such a funny video! 😂 would love a copy of Tetris :D
Thanks for the Re Up i really needed to find out if you wasted a bunch of money
The running commentary whilst looking through them was grade A comedy
A signed one with "NO!" would go great on the shelf next to my minuet cart.
On one side, you have 100 copies of a game that are barely worth a few pounds, on the other you've got 100 games you can have fun with.
If it were me, first thing that springs to mind, sign and number the mass versions, throw in a minuet version or two, wrap all the games in paper to add to the mystery, then charity raffle.
No idea why this hit my suggested. But I loved the reality of the situation. Well done.
Cool video, tetris is the only gameboy cartridge I have (bought recently from Japan), now will have to take a look at it! Didn't know that thing.
But you are indeed naiive - japanese sellers know their work and value of different version, it's their work and income - to know those stuff.
There are some differences in prices on different sellers and some are cheaper, but I didn't meet yet a japanese seller who just didn't know what he had and sold gold for price of metal.
Now you'll become the seller you bought from :)
exciting!!! just started watching, hope u get one :))
omg haha.. you have to make somrhting from them, a sad sculpture xo
I'd take a copy of tetris! You recently inspired me to repair broken game boys off eBay and such
"Is anyone going to watch this video?" IM HERE FOR IT ELLIOT!
8:06 went through the same through process as you 😅 i enjoyed the video though and at least you got a new subscriber from this 😊
For some reason watching Elliot going through piles of cartridges shouting "No, No, No...." was the RUclips video I needed most in my life. Absolutely hilarious!
You know what's better than one copy of Tetris? 100 copies of Tetris.
Please now make a video about this original Gameboy Japanese Tetris game intro music no one knew about!
“You tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.”
To quote elliot in his video I found mystery gameboy games in Japan "you can't go wrong with a copy of tetris"
"Anyone want a copy of tetris?"
Sure, if its signed by you.
Sign one and throw it at me lol, seriously though great vid as always.
Everyone needs 100 Tetris cartridges for their Tetris shrine.
Imagine going into a retro game store with that box of games that would be so funny.
Not just watched it but subbed b/c of it… and I’d love a signed copy as well!!
Maybe the best video yet ? I was laughing the whole time 🥇
I'll take a copy and a signed copy by you sounds awesome man
8:28 i love that he mentions he could have at least planted one to make it interesting for the video 😂
And this is how you make a price spike. You do a buy out like this.
I'd LOVE a signed copy! Sorry you didn't get what you were looking for, Buddy.
sorry for you luck but wow was this funny ,great video
I would love a copy of tetras. All jokes aside. Thank you, love the content!
Open them up and reflash and/or replace the chip so it plays the minuet version and slap a custom sticker on there and sign it.
Weirdly enough, I didn't have a single copy of Tetris for the original Game Boy until I bought a Super Game Boy off of eBay a few years ago (maybe 2012 or so?) and it was bundled.
I'd love a copy :O Tetris became a comfort game for me when I got stuck in Brisbane a few years back during covid border lockdowns and I would play that to pass the time and distract myself from everything haha
Would you be selling any of the standard versions? iv recently started to display my consoles/games and i do not have a copy of tetris.
Yeah I love Tetris. Use to have it but lent it out and never saw it again. So love a copy.
I ordered a few from Japan before while picture shows the first version but they send out a different one, i payed too much for it with shipping, just a warning for those buying or interested in hunting them down, some purposely post the first edition picture and sell off newer versions unfortunately
lol “I could have just planted one in here for the video”
I feel your pain but the video was awesome!
I'd be highly interested in the yellow/orange faded one from the end? do you have an ebay shop? :)
put them all in one picture frame and hang it as art!
Call it "Choices"
You could literally host your own Tetris tournament
sure, i don't mind if its a regular one, looks interesting next to the global card
