I love my Mark 23. It is fun to shoot - especially suppressed (obviously). I never thought I'd pay $2k+ for a pistol since I am more into rifles, but this beauty re-wrote my rule. Oh and tons of overtime helped pay for it - ha ha.
...and the extra mags...
Can't forget about those, at $60 a pop. $600 for 10 of them.
But that's about what you'll pay for 1000 or .45 ACP now a days, so it's about even
William (Mishaco) - Knights only made the cans for the US Market. The Europeans who picked up the MK23 picked it up with a B&T silencer. 20 of those B&T silencers made their way to the U.S.
highly doubt that since there's several for sale on gunbroker for normal price
@@davidcollins6164 Lol. Yeah, they just did a new run, genius. It's well documented on HK-Pro. You do know RUclips shows when comments are made, right? So, you can look above my comment and see that it was made a year ago? And, you're aware that things change over time? "hIgHlY dOuBt tHaT." Tell me your IQ is below 80 without telling me your IQ is below 80.
@@davidcollins6164 "hIgHly dOuBt tHaT". I made the comment a YEAR ago, and they decided to do an additional run, genius. This is well documented on HK-Pro. FFS.
my doubts have been confirmed
@@davidcollins6164 No, you're wrong. They did another run - this is pretty well known unless you really don't know much at all, which seems to be the case with you. Maybe instead of saying "highly doubt that", maybe take a second and consider whether things could have happened in the meantime that changed things. You'd look a lot less foolish that way. Now, we all know you're not playing with a full deck.
I'm not too proud to admit I started drooling over the MK23 because of Metal Gear Solid, back when I was a teenager. My first Airsoft was a MK23 and I loved that thing; a shooting buddy of mine had one and I got to put some rounds through it on a couple of occasions. While huge, it fit my hand well and I was floored by the accuracy; I was putting down groups at 50yd that I struggled with other pistols at 25yd. The only pistol I've ever owned that has shot even remotely close is a Glock 34 that I picked up a few years ago.
I just put down a very large amount of money to pick up a MK23 with the maritime finish(which they stopped making in 2005), a healthy supply of mags, and that rare camo soft case; it is the single most expensive firearm I have ever purchased. I'm so incredibly excited to put this beast through its paces.
Snake!??
Lol
The Mark23 has become a special firearm for me its like an old friend that I just like to have around and nothing really could take its place. I carry it in the wisconsin winter in a old school size Large soft IWB holster and I can really get a good grip when drawing from the holster with gloves on because of the big trigger guard.
The feel when I rack the slide is like no other because of the heavy duty recoil system and its like you can feel the reliability when you shoot it if that makes any sense . The stippling on it makes you feel like you are back in the 90's like shooting a carbine with a carry handle.
Hey, wtf not?!?!
Sweet, was hoping for more HK pistols on here. The Mark 23 is one of my grail guns for various reasons from my childhood, plus it’s just a cool pistol even if it is big. I need one to go with my USP 45’s
Have another HK pistol video ready to publish too.
I bought one in the camo case little over a year ago for 1.8k. Unfired, KG date code, lower case "Mark 23". Guy got it for a graduation present in 1996 and was selling it because of divorce. I haven't shot it yet.
Is it still unfired?
@@griftinggamer Yeah, l got two full sized USP .45's.
What the heck is going on! I feel like I got some kind of FILTER on the Mishaco channel that shows me only my current favorite guns ! If a MR762 video appears soon on your channel I will have to pinch myself
Umm, you might want to avoid Friday then.
HK probably sends Konami a royalty check every time a Mk.23 is sold.
They mail them in orange boxes too.
That's a large frame handgun for sure. You sure are putting out the videos lately. I'm loving every minute of it. It's finally feeling like Spring, then they start talking snow come Friday. Aaaaargh.
Pentagon: We need you to design a pistol that does all of this. *Holds out long list*
HK: Done.
Pentagon: This pistol is too big and stupid, we'll never use it!
They ended up using it. Though those who thought it too big bought the USP fullsize .45's C.O.T.S. after 1995.
they used the shit out of it all of you internet experts are clowns.
This pistol saved my life on a central American island infested freak dinosaur monsters..... Much respect!!!!! RIP Mr 🐐.
I love my Mark 23! Soft recoil, accuracy durability, and all of the other accolades you and Fox mentioned I wholeheartedly agree with. Two things to note. There is an adapter available that allows a standard weapons light to be installed. I have a Stream 10 light/laser combo on mine that performs very well. Also, it uses a standard thread pitch so I had no problem putting a Rugged Suppressor on on, unlike my HK 45 Compact which uses reverse threads and required a separate adapter. It's even more of a pussycat when suppressed and everyone needs to be able to experience that pleasure! The bigger problem is finding a good holster for it. Definitely a range toy, but oh so fun.
Thanks for the great video featuring one of my very favorite pistols!
I wish I got one back in 1996, when you could get the Mk.23, 5 mags, and a case for $1,400.
Adjusted for actual inflation it's probably actually about the same tbh.
@@roywall5231
Probably close to it.
But back then you got 5 mags and a case. Not just 2 mags and a box.
Size of the gun is exaggerated. Most of the guys that say it’s huge are midgets with small hands.Yeah it’s big but not as overwhelming as little hand people exaggerate.
Again, if i can hold and operate it comfortably, just about anyone can.
Exactly. Also it was used in the SEAL teams, mainly by SVD guys.
I have a similar beast. Not hk but impressive/crazy. FN FNX tactical .45. 15 round + 1 in the hole. Ambidextrous safety/decocker threaded barrel. Night sights optic ready rail etcetera. Seems like somebody was looking at that mk.23. It's a beast.
Yep, had a few of those come through the store over the years. They came in a nice little soft case.
Only thing i would do to the mark23 would have a take down notch like the high power has but it is definitely easier to reassemble than the 1911
I hate how much I want one of those
This is the correct way to feel.
didn't watch the video but why the fuck would you call it 'absurd'. it's a full size handgun and arguably the best full-size no-compromise handgun ever built.
not going to get started on people who think guns are 'fun'
Its interesting that all MK23 have those wear marks on the "ejection window", dont know the english name for it. I guess it is because of the coating process and because the tighter tolerances compared to other kind of duty pistols. The first models had the salt water coating all over the slide, i guess the later ones only at the ejection window, i would like to see a 2024 version. Of course there is a reason to buy the MK23 these days, it has a better quality and precision, its an icon and the long size is not bad for 25m precision shooting, in combination with a lighter trigger and the P7 sights its not bad.
I have big hands and love the larger handguns like Mk 23. Little ones feel like they are going to slip out of my hands like a bar of soap in the shower sometimes. An acquaintance has a Glock 43 and its like that to me.
I went with a FNX-45T but it was a close race...what won me over? The FNX can upgrade to run 460 rowland ammo with double the chamber pressure for those wild nights in Alaska 😉
The Mk23 can handle 45 Super, which is stronger than 460 Rowland. As someone who owns both the Mk23 and the FNX45, I thoroughly enjoy the Mk23 more than the FN. They're both great in their own rights, but the Mk23 definitely suppresses better and is more accurate.
@Kalashnik0v1312 you can't buy 45 super loaded to the level of 460. You can handhold what ever ya want tho I'm sure... I'm not going to argue with ya on this one as the whole internet has your comment twisted here..
@@The_Informative_Shooter 45 super is not modified to hold more powder...so you could technically load a 460 hotter if you are hand loading, ya have more space
Does 460 Rolland use the same Mags/mag springs?
@@The_Informative_Shooterthsts not true, 460 Roland approaches full power 44mag 45super isn’t even close it’s more like 45plus+, thsts about it.
Metal Gear Solid introduced me to this pistol all those years ago. I still want one to this day.
One of my dream guns for over the past 25 or so years...that's a keeper! Thx for sharing.
Save money and buy one
I had a hard time deciding between a usp45 and the mk23 but ended up with the offensive pistol and have no regrets. There’s something special about this pistol. Great content as always buddy!
Those 30,000 rds tests were done with P+ ammo. Did I miss that part?
It's really surprising these are still in production, in my opinion. This pistol has outlasted the Walther p99... They must sell quite on various civilian markets around the world to make it financially viable...
I should point out that the P99 is still in production. It became more popular in Europe, than in the USA. Really though, the PPQ is just a rebranded P99.
@@misha5670 I believe the Walther folks said at SHOT show they are stopping production soon - and doing a final edition for the ending of production. I bought a P99 after they said that - glad I did - they disappeared quickly on gunbroker in the last few weeks.
Misha is always the best for informative reviews
The SEAL teams who did use it, seems to unanimously love it. SDV guys, guys in hides, and guys clearing caves in Afghanistan. It’s where the pistol shined, doing what it was designed to do. It was never meant to be a side-arm.
The myth of SEALs not using it is from teams who didn’t do that kind of work.
You can see the interview with a SEAL who did use and and helped develop in on the 1911 syndicate channel.
The same people that throw shade on this greatness will happily carry a gun that weighs twice as much, carries half as many of the same bullet, and has pretty much the same OAL.
Not going to win any awards for concealing, but they make a really good grizzly gun. 12 is more than 5 and you can easily fire waaaay hot .45 😂
It’s a great pistol, I love mine. I would love if someone made a Flux raider style frame for it. It would be a great with a stock! Imagine that stability!
Any recommendations for a can? I like the old oss company.
I have heard that the few operators that have used the Mark 23, used it quite extensively with great results in the Middle East. They praised the handgun tremendously for meeting their standards and effectiveness in the field.
A beast , but needs respect , stand alone defense !
Like clockwork... Whenever I want to buy or sell a gun, I'll see a really cool video about it in my feed. In this case I have an MK23, but last week decided I would sell it to move on to some other options. It's a good gun... I love the looks and feel of it. Very fun being able to shoot 45 super out of it too. But there are other gun related things I want that are more practical, and I only have so much space and money for my gun collection. Maybe I'll hold on to it a bit more?
Don't sell it. I'm (sorta) in the same boat as you, except I've never even fired mine. Normally, I'd say "give it time, they'll quit importing them", but given they sell these for about USP Elite (which is itself 2X the cost of a VP9), and even factoring lower run numbers, their profit margin percentage on this gun has to be multiples of what they get out of the rest of their handgun line.
@OFFICIALUND I actually just sold my VP9 too lol. Nothing wrong with it exactly, but the way I grip the pistol can cause some slide locking issues. I suppose I could have learned a different grip, but I don't want to change my style just to suit one gun. I highly recommend them though, they just feel sturdy for a polymer pistol and the trigger is great imo. I've got no experience with the USP line though.
@@SquallWulfhart I have a VP9. Feels great in the hand - and you’re right about the trigger- but it is very “flippy” for me.
@@OFFICIALUND To me that’s a nice looking pistol as well.
@@SquallWulfhart I personally hate the VP9 trigger Feels cheap cheesey.
Crew-Served Pistol! that pretty much it sums up !! that gave me a laff and gained you a subb!! Add one more GenX‘er (first draft class - ‘66) to the roster. looking forward to working thru the back-catalogue. cheers
I just recently acquired a brand new Mark 23. I also own to USPs in .40 and .45 both Variant one versions. The Mk 23 is just so badass and is a legend in the gun world. Now I’m in the process of obtaining a Ghost suppressor..which is about a 9 month wait time to process.
If you ever get your hands on a HK45C Tactical, it might be a good opportunity to do a video on the MK24 Mod O supposedly present during the Bin Laden raid. Also P8A1 would be amazing
Covered the HK45C many, many years back; but sure yeah, we could think of tossing it back in the rotation sometime.
@@misha5670 I'll have to find that. I probably watched it a long time ago and forgot. I know I watched Chris Bartocci's vid on it.
@@cajuncatfish5417 I know we recorded it at the cabin. I think it was in 2014?
I’m selling my CZ97B (they’re garnering up to $1,400 now) and I’m picking up a HK compact tactical which are far cheaper to run a suppressor instead of dropping $300 more on a CZ threaded barrel. 👍🏻
Greatest handgun ever made
When they first came on the market i was young and wanted one super badly. It was painted to be the ultimate duty pistol and i loved anything SEALs used. All these years later im glad i never got one. I pretty much dont use any full sized pistols anymore.
I've seen this gun before but it looks extra big now some reason. R u trolln?
If you've seen Tears of the Sun, you've seen this gun. If you've "seen one" but it looks smaller, then it's one of the USPs probably.
@@OFFICIALUND i have seen it a few times & I think your right i was thinking The USP thats why
@@OFFICIALUND what is a USP.? Thanks.
e @@davidkohler7454 HK USP - There are quite a few varieties, and range from about $600-$1300 (Don't hold me to those numbers . . .), but they look like mini MK23's, which is to say they're normal sized to still very large-sized guns, depending on the Model. The USP Elite is still a very, very large pistol, just not compared to the MK23.
With Crocodile Dundee's immortal words - a little adapted to the situation
"That ain't a gun.....This is a gun"
Glad you kept it!
Want one of these pretty bad. Hate CA “laws”
I have one because I wanted one....and because I'm a Metal Gear Solid series fan and because I watched Tears of the Sun too many times.
I got mine because I found a good deal.
Hey Misha,
Any chance you could do a review of the "Asian" AK kits and maybe some on the history/variants of NK?
Got a kit right here. So its in the list of videos to-do.
Really enjoyed, love that pistol, thanks
Lol Crew-served pistol
I’d love this gun one day
I love mine never know when you might need a gun that will never break in civilian use
Or even military use really.
That's what she said
Great video
😊😀😎👍🏼
I’ve owned one for years and never shot it. I have a usp 45 I shoot I figure it’s close enough.
Pretty close, yes. MK23 is a bit softer shooting; anda lot bigger in the hand.
Want to sell me yours?
For sure it's fun.
Your videos are the most informative , detailed ever. Great job.
Is this real?
Best handgun ever, just hard to find and expensive. These should be like $1.5k, not $3k.
They’re usually around $2200-$2500, not $3000.
@@hm096 true but they should still be like 1,500 lol
@@robertoalfaro4670 I own one, and they shouldn't actually be any more than about $900 (even on HK Price Scale), even factoring in the loss of economies of scale from fewer numbers. And the USP Elite (9mm) shouldn't be any more than $750.
@Roberto Alfaro spot on. I bought one and ended up selling it years ago for $1800. They should never be $1500+ but Gen 3 Glock 17L also go for $1200+. I understand the market sets value but lol imagine paying $1k+ fir a stock glock. 😅
Wanna sell it
If i did, Fox gets first chance on it. He already tried lol.
Beats a Desert Eagle
U must be smokin some real good shit if u actually stand behind that statement
@@smoothshot8925 Desert eagle is notoriously unreliable. So I would stand behind such a statement.
I used to make fun of the Mark 23, now it's my favorite gun in my collection. It's even better when you get it milled for an RMR.
Nah
Heresy! Outdated, 25 year old LAM is all you need!
@@mmartinisgreat yeah, I got mine milled a few years ago and love it.
To each their own I guess.
Are these still manufactured?

Hate cats.
Boy, are you in the wrong place then.
It is a gun for giants.
I have one because if an end of the world pistol exists then this is it.
I've made similar statements myself. If any gun is going to last with little to no maintenance, its this one.
