    What is Disney Dreamlight Valley?
    Disney Dreamlight Valley is a hybrid between a life-sim and an adventure game rich with quests, exploration, and engaging activities featuring Disney and Pixar friends, both old and new. Once an idyllic land, Dreamlight Valley was a place where Disney and Pixar characters lived in harmony-until the Forgetting.

    This will be good for Dreamlight Valley's longevity and legacy. From what I understand, the developer team is small, and they are (I can only assume) exhausted from having to churn out a huge amount of content so regularly. I wouldn't be surprised if the larger gaps between updates were put in place to prevent employee overexertion, as well as a proactive measure prevent to programming errors.

      If everyday people understood the process it would go along way to more understanding, I wish a weeks worth of customer service was a requirement to graduate high school, like doing a civil duty to bring more understanding in that field of work, just my humble opinion. I think it would serve our society a good deal of mutual understanding on what it's like having to deal with each other ❤

      Yeah I agree, I would hate to see them have a burnout situation and start to see huge developer turn-over because their prioritizing pushing as much content as possible to squeeze as much money as possible out of players (we all know that hasn't been good for the Sims). I would rather they keep the talented, passionate team they have excited about the game and pace themselves rather than just churn content out to get content out.

    If they space it out like you have outlined I would be okay with it, especially June 11th being my birthday, but only if they work on the details. This year's updates were awesome but extremely buggy and for several months most of the community had a hard time even playing because of crashing all the time. If they take the time and do each update right and continue to listen to us as a community and give us bigger updates I am 100% OK with this roadmap.

    Ideally if we're having less updates with bigger gaps, I'd like three characters per update. Solely because of the sheer amount of Disney characters per franchise, getting three at once would help fill them out. Like we have Tiana, but who knows when we'll get more characters from the Princess and the Frog.
    This is pure speculation, but I imagine we'll get Aladdin and Jasmine, but it would be great to get the Genie too.
    Alice and the Cheshire Cat, but it would be great to get the Queen of Hearts too.
    Peter Pan and Hook, plus Wendy too.
    I just feel like getting more characters at once per franchise would really help to flesh things out a bit!

    I think last year, the Devs ran into trouble fixing the bugs while keeping the roadmap on track. The Monsters’inc update ran two weeks behind schedule as we got all the ❤ items after Valentine’s Day. Which is also why they had to make the Halloween update significantly smaller. So I totally understand why in 2025 they want to keep things a lot less hectic, while they are working on the third DLC and late 2025/26 updates. Disney has to approve every little thing that is being put in the game, every object - dialogue, character skin etc… It’s a very long process and lots of back & forth to get approval. (Devs working on Avatar mentioned that they had to wait sometimes 2 months for Disney just to approve objects and weapons skins…)
    All of this to say that I don’t really mind the longer wait between updates. The core players who like to decorate are sorted with the new decoration tools that can keep us all busy for a long while. New players who are buying both DLC are going to be absolutely swamped with quests, and are likely to be just fine with the updates being more spread out. The returning casual player though is a ?. So many games coming out in 2025, it’s just ridiculous. So I don’t know if they’ll keep up with the updates or just check in on the game once and a while.
    Gameloft has likely based this roadmap on all sorts of important data. As long as enough daily players take part in decorating, buy premium shop items - do the star path (basically see a healthy revenue), that’s what matters. I’m sure the devs will keep improving the performance of the game and add QoL updates throughout the year - there’s also Switch 2 coming out. So maybe that’s also an extra hurdle to make sure the game is fully functional on the new console. (= less time to invest in extra content)

    • @ShellytheCollector

      I think this too! I'm also totally fine with it. Between tearing down 90% of my valley because of the new angle decorating, playing the quests and decorating and getting achievements in Storybook Vale, and the 2 other cozy games (not to mention regular action rpgs) that I'll be playing I'll be plenty busy with games this year!

    On one hand I hope this is to help the Devs with crunch, on the other hand I've also seen this happen with games like Destiny 2 where more of the Dev time is devoted to Shop items.

    hey Serroh!
    I love your brain with this sort of thing!!
    I am not a content creator, I work full time and mostly only play at night, weekdays, sometimes I play a lot more on a saturday. but I also find the star paths extremely easy and most updates too, I try not to rush through it, and let it last longer, but it ually never happens. I don't have a lot of experience in games before this, never considered I'd be invested in a game, like I am with this. Like you, I prefer more frequent, steady updates, because I honestly don't find the content overwhelming, I am always wanting more of it lol. I do appreciate, it is a Disney game and you have to consider the diversity of players and fans, and age and stage etc. I also feel however, it isn't going anywhere, it's not a competition and you can play it at your own level, without feeling you have to hurry up and catch up with people online. If I never subscribed to you or any other you tuber and watch these videos, I would just happily play along and not think about how you have items, or at a part of the game, I have not yet reached. It wouldn't affect me. I don't think it should. The only part of the content you need to do things by a set time is the star paths and the little mini events they bring out. But aye, I just feel, it should cater for all different levels of players. if there is less updates with a much longer gap, hopefully it will mean, the content is more involved and has more longevity.
    I'm in for all of it. I can't wait for the new characters, and just to see more of this stunning game we all love.
    Thanks again Serroh 😃

    I think there are several things to consider here, one being that the developer team might have recognized that they needed more time in the deadlines they set for themselves last year, which is totally understandable. I personally felt like they were increasingly late on deadines they had set for themselves and were trying to rush to get promised content out. I would rather they recognize that they need more time and give us quality content rather than rush to get content out and potentially give us less content or more bugged content because they didn't allow themselves enough time. Another thing is that for alot of regular players, myself included, and new players it's...a lot haha. I started to feel overwhelmed with the amount of things that started piling up. I can't play DDV more than an hour or so on a play day (sometimes I can't play on week days) with Saturday and Sunday being my primary play days, though still I can only limit that to a few hours at most because of real life commitments. That means for example that I'm STILL to this day trying to complete a Rift In Time (finally got to Act II yesterday), I haven't finished quests for seven or eight of my characters, and forget about time for doing fun more frivolous things like decorating. There was a period of time that I had 30+ quests just piled up and keeping track of where I was in each was really difficult. Each gameplay I prioritize the starpath and resource replenisment (not everyone has crazy stockpiles and mine tend to get depleted if I don't regularly work to refresh them, especially stockpiles from Eternity Isle because I never have the time to regularly do rotations focused on collecting items like I have for the Valley) by the time a new update arrived I was either rushing to complete my Starpath or just finishing it, I hadn't finished quest lines, hadn't had a chance to make much progress on the new DLC and was increasigly feeling bummed I didn't have the time to dedicate to actually decorate my valley like everyone else. Then you have to also consider the time it takes to set up dreamsnaps if you want to spend some quality time doing it (I think they're fun but I tend to run out of time to set them up so feel rushed with them as well). All this to say that the game started to feel like work rather than the cozy game it had been initially for me. There's just so much it comes with if you add it all up: Starpaths, Dreamsnaps, DLC content, Free Update content, Timed Events (which also can take time if you're collecting ingredients), Touch of Magic, and decorating both exterior and interior (I like to do both). I wouldn't mind at all and would just work at my own pace if nothing was time gated, but starpths and dreamsnaps having a deadline makes it a little trickier for people like me who can't just play in all our spare time and sometimes can't pick the game up for days at a time. Anyway, all this long (likely unneccessary spiel lol) just to say I would GREATLY appreciate more space between updates. If that's what's happening I kind of feel relieved lol because I do love this game so much. I have a chronic illness and this game has gotten me through some really low times. I know that not everyone is going to like this, but I would just ask people to consider that maybe all players can't work at the same pace and live very different lives, so maybe it's nice to try to include as many players as possible rather than leaving some players in the dust because they can't keep up with the pace? If I had a week, two, heck even three between completing a Starpath and the next one I wouldn't mind it at all so that probably says a lot haha. I'm so sorry for this being so long! This is just something that I have been agonizing over for a while and seeing the possibly expanded dates leaves me feeling a little hopefully that I can finally just enjoy the game fully. Especially considering we're getting the new islands! Outside of character homes and a few pockets I've had time to slowly decorate fully here and there my valley is completely empty so I have a lot of work to do to catch up lol.

    • @gogirl709
      @gogirl709 6 дней назад +1

      I'm with you! I mostly play weekends for a couple of hours and maybe for an hour once or twice a week. I hardly ever have time to do Dreamsnaps and am usually throwing something together just to hope to get 1500. I use the "downtime" to decorate little areas (my valley is still a mess) and I just finished Rift in Time last month. Still on Level 9 with Jafar and only have ONE of the fragment decoration things done. But I'll still be ready for a giant DLC later this month - lol

    • @KiwiNoelle
      @KiwiNoelle 5 дней назад

      @@gogirl709 I'm working hard to catch up to your status but I'll get there! Lol it hasn't helped that I've been really affected by the crashing, I went through a period where I couldn't access the game for over a month because it would instantly crash the moment I loaded in, so I'm wondering if that might have factored into their decision as well, allowing the huge amount of players who've been affected by bugged updates to catch up as well haha.

    The road map is pretty good in a sense and yeah the wait time might cause people to suddenly lose interest unless Gameloft does something that can help players keep busy like you said. I definitely agree with you that they need to do maybe mini events or at least have it where we get new characters while we wait at least since there still seems to be more doors inside the castle to unlock as well as maybe they could do something in the vitalys mines where we somehow have a way to clear those night thorns in there. Even doing some Twitch rewards would be a good idea too.

    I like back to back updates because I've been able to no-life them and play them fast. However, I don't think slowing down is a bad thing. I'd rather the devs not rush the updates and put out less buggy stuff. Also, it does seem like we're getting more content heavy updates this year. Aladdin & Jasmine, then multiple characters coming for the Alice update (my guess is Cheshire Cat and Mad Hatter and possibly Alice as a 3rd), and then probably multiple characters in the Skull Rock update too. I also don't think we'll be waiting until July or August for the summer update; that would be way too long for the expansion to have a break.

    @kacelove 5 дней назад +1

    I don’t mind the long waits as long as they really lock in with making the updates as non-buggy as possible in the times between. But if we wait double the time just for the same/more bugs to pop up then I think that’ll cause a problem. UNLESS they intend to include hotfixes in between updates-which I thing is something they SHOULD have been doing from the beginning. Waiting for the next update for bug fixes is kinda insane. But other than that, the long waits do give new players a chance to get all the characters before the next star paths and stuff

    Honestly if this is the road map this is acceptable 100%! A lot of us work full time, and have other obligations and can only play once a week or once every few weeks. I understand from a content creator perspective this is a little less and likely not ideal, but perhaps developers can use this to make their own little challengers with players (just a thought). But I also understand from a developer standpoint they do not need to be burnt out pushing out so much content - they all deserve breaks as well, perhaps a smaller roadmap ensures they get a week or two off as they should to not burn out.

    id love to see content creators posting videos of the Vales storyline close to the summer update, just a compilation of clips from their streams or something. I personally hope that less frequent updates will mean better QA testing pre-release and therefore less bugs. If they have more time to work on each update, I hope that they're not only larger, but also more stable. If that is the case, I would prefer it over the more frequent updates which are nice, but often rushed and full of bugs and issues.

    If we bump the Early 2025 (Aladdin Realm) up to the end of February like the Lovely Monsters one was, then the roadmap fits.
    However, what are the chances that we could get 3 Alice in Wonderland characters? Like, Cheshire, Alice and the Madhatter?
    I'm not going to hold my breath, however, more time in between updates might do it as nothing for that part specifies a specific number of characters .... just "friends"
    Also, Cheshire wasn't on the July survey of characters for us to vote on. Alice, The Madhatter and The Queen of Hearts were, along with Aladdin, Jasmine and Peter Pan.

    I constantly feel like I'm barely keeping up and I have no time to stock up on materials and I am struggling to get characters to level 10 before the next update. It's barely keeping its cozy game status for me and is borderline too grindy. For those of us who have busy lives and other games we also like playing, I very much appreciate more time between updates. This year with the bugs and delayed updates it felt like the devs were drowning so I'm glad they've learned and will hopefully have more time now to focus on quality over quantity!!

I spend my time on the star paths to not lose any items and then I don’t have time to actually play the quests and storyline. I am excited about the actual content though. I am soooo overjoyed about Alice in Wonderland content finally coming. It is my favorite books/fantasy world/quoteable story/Disney inspired theme ever. I'm not picky as long as we get updates. I came from Animal Crossing. They stopped updating and after a month or two it got boring doing the same uninterested thing daily. You find you only went on to get your message by the beach, but when it was always something you had, what was there to look forward to? Then you play less and less till you stop completely. Which is what I did. Then I found DLV and that sealed AC's fate. As far as for me, any update gives you something to look forward to and keeps the interest there.

As much as I love this game, sometimes there’s only so much time I can focus on playing (this student is tired 😅). Even though I’m I’ve been playing for almost 2 years, you probably wouldn’t even know. I have almost all characters unlocked, but my quests have been put on the back burner and my valley is a dumpster fire because all I focus on is the star paths and maybe dreamsnaps, because that’s all I have time for. I have even resulted in forcing myself to not unlock characters from the past few updates until I catch up on other quests so I don’t feel more overwhelmed. If we had more time between updates, maybe I’d be able to get through the content!

    There is no guarantee these new updates will be bigger so I prefer last year's more frequent update drops. However the character hints in this next roadmap are the ones I have been most excited for to date

    I prefer the new roadmap, the super frequent updates this year brought so many new bugs that PC players had never exp'erienced before, I think this is a smart move

    You know when People were thinking That Storybook Vale DLC everyone thought it Would come on December 4 with Sally but Now The Storybook Vale coming on November 20 2024 Part 2 of DLC could be Late May or Early June 2025!

  • @Flightofthesparrow
    @Flightofthesparrow 3 дня назад

    I still think we are also getting Snow White and Cinderella as a surprise in December…stitch together a mystery feels like it should lead to something bigger and more exciting. They showed we will get Sally but I think there are still
    More surprises in store

      Unfortunately, as they're bringing out the DLC at a very similar time, which has 3 characters in it already, I can't see them also releasing 3 characters in the base game. I wouldn't be surprised if we find out about the Mystery Gift Giver soon, but I just can't see us getting 6 characters in such a smaller period of time. I highly expect we'll get Cinderella at some point in 2025 but not yet

    • @Flightofthesparrow

    Everyone just has to be patient because you got to remember people are designing this game and they have to take time to make stories and fix bugs I think they just want enough time to make more stories instead of back-to-back stories

  • @tammynau1395
    @tammynau1395 5 дней назад

    I have a feeling they will add in a few mini events, a starpath that doesn't align with an update or secret quests. Just my thoughts.

  • @MusingsMuses
    @MusingsMuses 6 дней назад +3

    If it turns out they're extending starpaths to being 2 months long with say 10 pages of items instead of 6 weeks with 7 pages, it'll be fine. Maybe they want to explore a starpath theme more then they can now, stay in the same gear for a bit longer so to speak. If starpaths stays the same and they start putting a 2-3 week gap between updates, then I'll get worried. Content slowing is usually the first sign a live-service game isn't making enough money to keep going.

  • @gogirl709
    @gogirl709 6 дней назад

    I think the free updates will be mid Feb, mid/late May and July. No mathematical formula just guessing. I never felt pressured with the starpath unless I didn't play for a couple of weeks and leisurely went through them. Updates look great even if we get one less free one. We might get two characters each update instead of one which is why we are getting one less update

      The devs promised that Star Paths would be a one time thing, mainly as a reward for early beta players. I'm surprised they're bringing back items in the Premium Shop, but I cannot see them bringing back previous Paths I'm afraid, especially now you can buy previous Path items for moonstones

    During the first year I would put the game down for long periods of time. I would come back for the updates but then lose interest again. Daily chores would start to feel boring. But… Since the DLC dropped last year I haven’t gone more than a few days without picking it back up. There was enough to do with dreamsnaps, weekly updates and such to tide me over between the updates. This new roadmap worries me… So much time between updates, will it feel boring again? You can only gather so many resources before it stops being fun. I am seriously excited for the new DLC and updates though and am trying to focus on that excitement.😊

    My guess would be that the Aladdin update will be at the end of February, like the Monsters Inc one from this year. Alice in Wonderland will probably be end of April/beginning of May and then we’ll probably see the Skull Rock update in July. Most likely the second half of the expansion won’t be released at the same time, so that could release at any point in the summer. These are just my guesses. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.

    im hoping that i can potentially catch up with all the quests (I've got TONS) which is where i want them to slow down, I don't have hours and hours to play and always get sidetracked, i did start in early access but for some silly reason my game got deleted so i had to start over so i got way behind, ive not even done part two of rift in time yet and we're already getting New DLC I won't be buying it right away but once i can catch up a bit i'd love to get it, Storage organisation is my main issue, i'd love to see more storage video ideas my storage is all over the place and i do'nt have enough resources to make the Large chests

    Idk if its just the way my brain works or what, but isnt it pretty obvious to everyone at this point they update base game every other month? As well as alternate how those characters are added(realm vs quest)? Therefore, if they continue that schedule, Aladdin chars are a realm in Feb, Alice chars should be quest based in April, but the caption makes it sound like theyre going to be a realm instead so it lines up for June to be Peter Pan chars by quest involving Skull Rock.

    I honestly think the star paths are already too long tbh and although I do love this game I am a gamer and with how long there has already been between updates I have become very close at times of thinking about quiting the game... I know that sucks to say but when there is NOTHING to do but decorate it gets old quick I know I know it's a "decorating" game but that community although large isn't large enough to keep the player base...

    I think you’re putting too much on the whole “summer isn’t till June 21st” thing. Going by the solstice you only get summer and winter, not spring and autumn/fall. To me spring is March April May, summer is June July August, autumn/fall is September October November and winter is December January February. It seems to me that the Summer 2024 update (tiana) only ended up in august because of earlier delays (namely monsters inc) pushing everything back further and further and the dev teams learning they needed more time between updates than they’d originally hoped.
