Jasmine Crockett joins Charles Coleman Jr., in for Ali Velshi, to discuss the overlooked aspect of her heated exchange with Marjorie Taylor Greene during this week’s Oversight Committee Hearing, specifically the racial double standard and challenges of being a Black woman in a position of power in the U.S. Congress. “[Greene] just decided, ‘you know I’ve got privilege, so I'm just going to say whatever I want to say and then lean back,’ and she knew she would face no consequences,” Crockett explains. “I refuse to be anyone’s doormat.”

Well when crockett and company interrupt MTG's speaking time to object to her content, MTG has every right to interject herself upon their interruption. It just not one sided.

I am an 84-year old white woman. My first thought after a great deal of laughter-was “I wish I lived in Congresswoman Crockett’s district.” She makes me proud to be a woman and an American and I hope she will be around in government for a long time. If IQ were the metric for majority they wouldn’t have to go any farther than Ms, Crockett, Jamie Raskin, and Dan Goldman for the Dems to win the majority. Add AOC and Katie Porter and we’re waaay ahead! Comer’s “a what now?” was priceless. Congratulations, Rep. Crockett.

Jasmine Crockett is one smart cookie. I like what she said about not being a doormat and being docile. I feel the same. I moved to Texas last year and I have had two incidents in local stores where I was treated unfairly. I didn’t just sit back and take it. I used my store receipts to give an honest review and I got results. People fail to realize that we are all part of the human race, regardless of race, color or creed and each person should give and receive dignity. As human beings, we need to do better.

MTG violated the rules of decorum - as she does _constantly_ - by engaging in personalities. She should have lost her privilege to speak, but instead (as always) she was given a pass. Rep. Crockett was entirely in the right to call that out, and used an excellent illustrative example to do it.

Rep Crockett did not address MTG "in this manner." After MTG made a personal attack on Crocket, there were no consequences for MTG. Crocket ask the chairman for a clarification of the rules. "If I said....bleach blond... etc. is that alright?" She never named names nor called anyone anything, MAGA thinks they are above the law, above the rules, above decorum and decency and consequences. It needs to be called out. Rep Crockett and AOC did the right thing.

I have to agree with the lower intellect, lower education level, and destructive biases that describe MTG's words & actions. We see it all the time with MAGA followers, but it's a glaring problem in Boebert & Green. Rep. Crockett handled this woman well. The men in the room did not. Green's outrageous behavior needs to be severely limited. She really only contributes chaos in her role in the House. Other MAGA in the House are fine with that.

What I find amazing is that the government officials get to behave and act in a manner that would not be prohibited in a corporate environment. As a VP in operations I’ve seen and terminated people for less. It is absolute grounds for termination to attack a colleague or to engage in the perceived personal attack on a colleague. From an HR standpoint to not immediately dissolve such a conflict would put the company at risk of hostile workplace harassment.

Two thoughts:
1) We love that she addresses in her own words what those nuances are, though nothing about MTG’s treatment of Congresswomen Crocker or Ocasio-Cortez (or other WOC) is nuanced. MTG is a bigoted, self-righteous, bullying horror of a human-being who is especially awful to colleagues who are WOC. She is an embarrassment to and a human stain on our Legislative Branch of government and our nation as a whole.
2) She didn’t “address her colleague” and that was the beauty of her response. She used a point of question as a means of reply, which was so smart. It did indirectly slight MTG but it also drove home the point of the matter which was the fact that the chairman did nothing about MTG‘s behavior. So it was important that she pose it in that manner, clarifying if it was okay to personally insult the physical appearance of other committee members. We all know it’s not and MTG should have got the boot. It was important Crocket did exactly what she did.
