I know that this is an old video, but i just wanted to say to anyone watching this now like me... You can stamp any of these images on gel polish, just use a sticky base coat over top after you cure your gel. I have been using gel polish as a base since i started using nail stampers. 🖤
I actually only stamp on gel polish. I’ve only stamped once on regular polish. It turned out great but I prefer stamping on gel since it gives more flexibility. If I don’t like the design I can take it off and not ruin the manicure. With regular polish you have to remove the mani and design.
@@blugoddess3825 Not “use gel polish to stamp”, but rather “stamp on gel polish” (still using stamp polish for the art/stamp itself). I’m 8 months late, so you probably figured it out by now 😉
I didn't know you could stamp on regular polish, so I've only been using gel. I've had success with all these plates, but I cure, topcoat, and cure again for each layer. (helps incase i mess up so i dont have to start all over)
Stamping polish will work best as they are formulated for such a purpose. However, regular polishes might sometimes work too depending on the formula and opacity. Try with polishes you own that are opaque in 1 coat and they should work. 😊
Thanks for sharing this video! If you would have made a mistake with the stamping polish over the gel topcoat, how would you remove the stamping polish but keep the gel manicure intact?
Good question Kelly! If you're completing the gel process and finishing with a top coat and then stamping, you can remove any mistakes with nail polish remover and start over again. This would mean that the gel work done underneath the stamping should be in tact.
I recently got some gel polish and a lamp for my birthday and am loving it. I have done a few manis and everything turned out great. Then I tried stamping over them. Both times that I used the smudge free top coat and regular top coat, I have problems. The smudge free top coat peels off the nails after 3 or 4 days. The gel polish base is still great looks fine. It is just the smudge free topcoat and any top coat that I use over it that peels off. I tried a third mani where I stamped and covered with gel top coat- i had no problems. Anyone know why this happens? Does your smudge free top coat not adhere to gel polish? Any suggestions? I wanted to keep the gel base for a few weeks but change up the stamping images over it a few times. I use the smudge free because the black stamping polish likes to smear and I hate when that happens. Thanks for any tips!!
You can stamp on top of your completed gel manicure. After you are done stamping, just topcoat with your usual gel top coat and cure a final time. The Smudge Free Top Coat is meant as a stamping barrier to be used on top of your stamping to prevent smudging and adding a layer of protection. We always recommend applying a regular top coat over it for longevity. Especially if you wash your hands a lot or use a hand sanitizer (most of us are doing a lot of nowadays), the alcohol content in a hand sanitizer will dissolve the top coat or cause peeling
@@Maniology thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. 💜 I did add seche vite on top of the smudge free top coat. It peeled off anyway. The 2nd time I applied maniology's speed dry top coat over the smudge free top coat. Both still peeled off the stamping and gel base. When I applied just the speed dry top coat, the stamping smeared slightly . But no peeling off. So I am just wondering if I am doing something wrong or if the smudge free top coat just doesn't adhere to gel polish or gel top coat. Thanks again! 💜
I stopped using and buying my stamping polish bc when I place the imagine down onto my gel nails it's always ALWAYS light and barely can see it. it literally does not matter the color combo... any tips to be able to use the stamping polish without having to paint white on them would be great
Thx for this video. I am brand spanking new to gel polish. So my question is do I let the stamps dry a little first or do I encapsulate with gel top coat right away? Will this cause smudging? Thx.
These simple stamps dry in seconds so you can wait like a minute or so before you apply your gel topcoat. It won't smudge, just make sure you're not touching the stamp with your brush. Same rule, float your topcoat 💗😊

So Im looking to get my sister a stamping kit for Christmas this year and since she does gels I figured watching this would be a good idea for me so I can teach her how to do it (she can do hair and make-up for days but has never done nail stamping). . . My Big Question is- will she need the smudge free topcoat if she is going to top the stamps with a gel, or does the gel top coat not cause the same kind fo smudging issues as regular polishes?
Would polish top coat hold up for a bit? I’m thinking it might be fun to change up designs with polish without having to remove any gel (non acetone remover)
Word of advise use the NO SMUDGE TOP COAT!! I made the mistake if using the Speed Dry Top Coat and RUINED my stamp. Ok it was over gel so I can re-stamp, but what a PIMA (pain in my ass)
We recommend using smudge free top coat that prevents smearing, such as our Smudge Free Top Coat here: maniology.com/products/no-smudge-nail-polish-top-coat ☺
I love the smooth, clean look of gel polish. It's just not worth the removal process (unless I use peel off base) & I prefer the feel of regular. Once done, it's just a mani. You can do whatever you want to it. Vinyls, stamping, glitter. You can even water marble over them. I've even done a regular base and polish with a gel top coat to save time.

You can't use gel polish to stamp. You have to use stamping polish, but you can do it in the middle of the manicure. Just use 91% alcohol to wipe off the sticky layer, then stamp, then use gel top coat to finish as normal. Done it for years.
You can stamp on top of your completed gel manicure. However, you can't use gel polish as the stamping polish. Gel polish does not transfer to the stamper correctly. After you are done stamping, just topcoat with your usual gel top coat and cure a final time.
