What people do is very important. For example Judas Iscariot clung to a lifestyle of stealing and he died as an unsaved man.

@@trustintheLordJesus It had nothing to do with him being a thief, there was a thief on the cross beside Jesus that believed what Jesus preached to him while they were both being crucified and was saved. Judas was not a believer, he was an unbeliever, it is not by works of righteousness which we have done, but by his mercy he saved us by grace through faith.
The is the most important and fundamental topic in Christianity and unfortunately is not preached much on Sundays as a sermon.Thank you brother for this video.

I used to base the validity of my salvation on how I was or was not living my life and I doubted my salvation for nearly 20 years. But now I look to the Word of God and his promises as the proof of my salvation 🙌🏽

Notice the word Lord. If people don't believe that Jesus is Lord then there's a problem.

Yep this is my kids memory verse for the week from the church. I asked them questions like "Does it say to go to church? What about stop sinning? What about saying a prayer? Is that how we're saved?" Great conversation on the drive home

What I find crazy is that most churches do not preach Christ alone. They claim they do, but most have some type of works involved.
When you think about it, you realize because of the RCC most people who claimed to be Christians did not believe on Christ alone.

God is faithful but He has many other attributes. All His attributes belong together. People need to understand that God is the author of faith, not man. John Chapter 1 teaches very clearly that many people say no to Jesus. If God doesn't bless a person with a hunger and thirst for righteousness they will not say yes to righteous Jesus.

Yep Exactly, Believers should take their assurance only from what God gave us to take for our assurance. It's His written guarantee of everlasting life to those who trust ( believe)only in the finished work of Christ for their salvation. John 3:36 is enough. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life. Phooey on man-made subjective litmus tests that are made only to confuse the believer.

notice it doesn't say "ye will be sanctified", no it says "ye *ARE* sanctified ___ in the name of the Lord Jesus".

Man, in his pride.. does what HE wants to do.. what HE thinks is right.. what the traditions of man tell him to do.. and then justify themselves as righteous, believing they are doing what God desires them to do.
You have to be brought to the point where you realize truthful statements:
1) You can do NOTHING.. you were born a sinner, and produce sin.. just as a tree produces fruit according to its kind.
2) It is the power of God that saves anybody, for God makes a bad tree good.. the tree cannot make itself anything other than what it is.
3) God is pure and doesn't need anything from you.. He simply desires to show mercy rather than judge us, as He has every right to. The kindness and goodness of God is something we cannot even comprehend, beyond a superficial understanding.
4) God prepared everything for your redemption and calls to all who would hear. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.. in the same pattern as those who believed when Moses lifted the bronze serpent in the wilderness and be saved.
@harpuia101 Good comment! You just described the Lordshippers and all other works based church goers of today to a T who are just like the Pharisee that Jesus accurately described in Luke 18:11-12. Hence, the fact that Jesus will utterly reject them as he stated in Matthew 7:21-23.

I need to listen to teaching like this often because I find it very difficult to believe I am saved. I have led such a sinful life but I truly believe in Jesus!
I know that salvation is a free gift of God for what Jesus did on the cross. And I know works does not mean salvation. However, I feel bad that I have the ability to do very little works because I deal with extreme agoraphobia and panic attacks. My mind races sometimes and I can’t physically control the way my body acts. I want to get out and go places and tell people about Jesus. I want to go to church. I want to volunteer and help people who are struggling or the elderly that need help. But I can’t because of what I’m dealing with. I pray, I read the Bible, I watch church online. I pray. But yet I doubt my salvation because of what I am going through. It really messes with me sometimes and gives me more anxiety about my relationship with God sometimes. I take some medications but i am scared to take any new medication because I feel like i am putting my trust in the medicine and not God. Plus I’m just generally scared of crazy side effects. Anyhow, what do I do? I’m having a tough time. Prayers would be appreciated.

Correct. We are saved by faith alone. Good works do not save, do not prove you are saved, or keep them saved.
We do good works out of love for what He has done for us, not out of a requirement to be saved. There is no requirement to do good works to be saved. Period.
Conflating service with salvation, as you say, creates confusion.
Faith IS good works. Faith isn’t invisible. (Heb 11) is full of examples of people who’s good works were evidence of their faith. Good works are obedience because we love Him.

@@GiftofGod289 (Act 16:30-31) Believing the gospel is what saves us (Mar 16:15). Believing on Jesus isn’t the gospel. After they got him to put down the sword they preached the gospel to him and he responded by getting baptized (Act 16:32-33).
(Eph 2:8-9) Easy believers love to quote verses 8 and 9, but they avoid verse 10 like the plague. “… created in Christ Jesus unto good works, … that we should walk in them.”
(Titus 3:5) I’m not talking about works of righteousness. I’m talking about GOOD WORKS. But this verse supports the water and Spirit birth (Joh 3:5).
(Rom 4:6) These are works of righteousness. Not good works.
(Joh 3:36; 6:47; 10:28-30; 1Joh 5:13). If just believing in Jesus is enough, then why wasn’t Peter saved when he confessed in (Luk 9)? In (Luk 22) Jesus told him “… when thou art converted …”.
(Joh 3:16) Skip right over 3:5, huh?
Jesus wants to see some works. (Rev 2:4) … repent, and do the first works; …

Thanks for another great message. Though whilst I place all my hope and faith in Christ alone, I still get the feeling from time to time, what if I am not really saved. Mr Ono, it would be great if everyone could have the revelation of their salvation as you have. The problem is .... millions of 'believers' dont. They beieve they are saved because they raised their hand during a good emotional deliverance service , felt warm n fuzzy for 2 weeks and then started doing the same old things. Then the same devil that tripped them up starts accusi g tnem. Thats their job n theyre good at it. The other group believes they are saved no matter what kind of life they live. Sooo... it is dangerous to base salvation by the proofs of your obedience but it is also dangerous to base salvation on that one moment when they 'think' they accepted the Lord and believed but dont live the life of christ.
Salvation must be a Revelation directly from God to the individuals heart. Then the gates of Hell cannot prevail against that revelation.
This is the only acceptable interpretation of the Gospel to me.
We will always doubt our salvation if we focus on our selves and how well we are doing or not, we must instead focus on what Chris achieved for us and His righteousness accounted to us, it is better than the righteousness of the Pharisees and the Scribes it is 100% nothing can be added to it but we serve Him with good works prepared for us to walk in not for salvation but because of our new disposition that He has born in us, we love Him and we love others and therefore we serve.

Exactly, people also get confused with the running the race verse that Paul wrote, there’s this guy in my bible studies that states you have to stay in the race, finish it. I am like dude Paul is mentioning the race of righteousness to receive rewards!

We must come to Christ open without any preconceived ideas. We're to come to Christ with the open expectation of trusting him alone for our salvation as the Apostle Paul says in 1Cor.15:1-4, Eph.2:8,9, and that alone for salvation.

The reason I doubt is because I’ve had the idea that confessing mortal sins to a priest being necessary beaten into my head by massive propaganda. I know Jesus is the only mediator between God and men, but the fear lingers on. OCD is no joke.
When you said not to examine yourself/your works, it made me think of 2 Corinthians 13:5, where Paul says:
"Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?-unless indeed you fail to meet the test!"
2 Peter 1:10-11 possibly says the same or similar things.

Doubt salvation? I've never thought about that. We have blessed assurance. the Bible says we can enter in to the Gods Throne of Grace through prayer, that we go boldly before the Lord in the highest of highest places in Heaven. With that said...doubt? No, I don't think so.
We are saved by Jesus Christ our Lord and not ourselves. Matthew 7:22 is about false prophets, false brethren, fakes they didn't believe in Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus Is the Son of the Living God. Jesus was crucified and died for the sins of the world. Jesus was raised to Life by God. Jesus left the tomb. He was seen alive by Peter, the twelve, over 500 of the brethren at once, by James, all the Apostles, and last by Paul as one born out of due time. Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.
They were relying on their own works of self righteousness they even did mighty works casted out demons but it didn't matter cause where not saved by works God said don't boast they were literally boasting to Jesus about all the mighty works they did

We are saved by grace alone and received alone through faith in Jesus Christ. No works are needed, nor can works ever add to the salvation we have received through faith. It’s also true to say that a changed heart/life, denial of self, and following Jesus Christ is evidence of your salvation to the world. Good works don’t prove salvation, but a true born again believer will have a different attitude towards sin and will seek to at least desire to please God over our flesh. And not by anything of ourselves, but because of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. This feels like a middle ground of Free Grace and Lordship, which I think both focus so much on one end, they steer from talking about the other, unintentionally in most cases. Asking genuinely as I believe God has been helping me through the relation & differences in our changed lives and our salvation itself -> would you take issue to anything I said above?
Not that sinning less adds to salvation, but a changed heart towards sin is a direct result of being born again. It’s one thing to struggle with sin, but it’s another thing to prefer sin and have no desire to live for Christ. Again this is not about judging salvation, but about what we are called to do post salvation that the Holy Spirit guides us into
Yes. Has to be a balance of law and gospel. I can’t stand the Lordship Salvation doctrine. Works are the fruit, not the root of a regenerative heart. Piety is a big problem in the church today. Obedience isn’t faith but rather produces it.
Could you pray for me? I've been struggling with once-saved-always-saved doctrine vs Jesus-plus-works salvation, back and forthright, for years. Lately it's been really anxiety producing because I really believe I'm a true Christian but truly unworthy and not living to my potential as a believer with lots of knowledge and little fruit, like the servant with several buried talents. The bible says that whoever believes in Jesus has the witness in himself. Do you have that witness? I'm guessing you do. One thing I have learned is that we often make the mistake of applying to ourselves some things that Jesus was saying to a different group of people. The wicked and lazy servant who buried his talent was cast into outer darkness on the basis of what he failed to do. That cannot happen to us who have been saved by trusting in Jesus apart from works and are sealed by the Holy Spirit. That passage in Matthew 25 is a continuation of chapter 24 which is speaking about the great tribulation just before Jesus returns and His audience is Jewish believers.
A born again Christian can only lose rewards not their salvation.
Im absolutely desperate to know this assurance. I understand the idea, but I just don't seem to get it. It's like I can't cross that line. I have no peace, no joy, and am gripped by the fear of death, I still consistently fail in blatant sin. I have begged God to save me from my sin and rescue me. I know scripture but I fail to understand something in it. I so desperately want to know for sure my salvation is sure and to walk with God daily.

@springflowerblosomnorris9721 The point being that self-righteousness is the problem. All people trusting in their works in any way will be in the same boat as the atheist because they did not trust in the finished work of Jesus unto salvation. Salvation is a free gift and can not be earned by any amount of striving to keep the law or do good deeds. I hope this helped to clarify the points.

@@springflowerblosomnorris9721 where in the Bible does it say that one must have evidence of faith? Are you going to suggest that James chapter 2 or some other passage is telling the believers that they must have evidence of faith or conversion? Don't add to the text what is not in there.
God confirms our salvation and relationship with him.
If you are a true born again Christian, then you should have no reason to doubt your salvation and relationship with God because God has confirmed it.
I have never doubted my salvation and relationship with God since I because a Christian over thirty years ago.
Such a thing hasn't been continued to be based upon faith either because when something gets confirmed you know it beyond all doubt.

When I hear a women saysshe does OF content and say yes i am going to heaven because of Jesus, I believe this women. But when I hear a Christian say if your a real believer you wouldn't be doing that and start quoting scripture and say they aren't real Christians, in my mind I think you have no faith in christ but in yourself. When you really think about it how much more faith does this women have doing what she does and still believe she will go to heaven vs someone who thinks they must or not do something, as if there is anything they can do.
Yeah but OF falls under sexual immorality. So if people tell her stuff about it when she proclaims salvation, it makes people think they can do whatever they want in life and still get eternity even though Jesus said the sexually immoral will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Ono, after someone believed in Jesus, it doesn't mean he sure has works to show. Many believers believe Jesus died for their sins and Jesus is the only way but they do not bear fruits or have any work to show. Even though they do not have work to show they are still saved. Am I right? Do you agree with me?

i thought the holy spirit was supposed to witness to born again believers and give them assurance so why do people doubt their salvation? this makes no sense
