The back spring is rated at 500-600 lbs of constant weight I believe. You should get longer sway bar end links at the back. I replaced the back with the front links since I have extras. I find the front easier to install (took me like 5-10mins). The rear was a pain to get to the top nut and break it. I end up chopping it off LOL. I have a 2000 limited 4runner.
You're going to have to get longer travel shocks and struts for those springs the torsion bar will also have to be extended or you can get a relocation bracket that you just weld on

Hey Bud, I've got a major dilemma on this particular subject! I also have a 99 3rd gen 4x4 I have decided to get the TRD 4x4 Tundra springs that came in the 1st gens 2000-2006. They're part# 48131-AF100 (color code: yellow-yellow; driver's side) and part# 48131-AF090 (color code: blue-yellow; passenger side). I also plan on the Tundra shocks as well, but need to do more research as the online info is inconsistent. On the rears I would want the Old Man Emu #906. These would provide an almost dead on 2" of lift. I've been reading the forums and the reason for this lift is the long life and mostly affordable, except the dearship prices for the front TRD springs are like $450 shipped! This is kinda expensive, but when you factor how rare these are to find, it seems more reasonable... What do you think about this? Speedy's Garage on RUclips has the video on this and it seems really great. I wanted to do the 6112's and 5160's but those just don't have the availability coupled with the longevity that 5100's offer... That's the reason behind all this. I really respect your opinion and that's the reason for writing this up... Other than that have a great and Happy New Years! Take care bro! 🌆🌌🏞🗻🏕🌄🏜🏖🐣
I think the oem springs are a little overpriced. But I loved my 2” lift setup and 32” tires. It was the perfect balance for price and power. You don’t need to do a whole bunch of other mods (video soon) to run that lift/tire size. It’s actually something I miss on my truck!! I ran a 906/880 combo on mine and was happy with it! But speedy has it right also. His truck looks amazing!

I am about to install 906 and 881 at front. I have a drawer system on my Runner already. I hope it won’t sagg at much that i have to go to the route your did on your video🙁
Does this lift not require new brake lines? And did the 4" lift springs work okay with those 2" strut assemblies? Excellent video. As always, thank you for all your dedicated hard and detailed work friend!
Do you know which OLD MAN EMU is the correct one to order. I just received mine and it’s only 2inch even shorter than my stock one. Looking for the rear coil spring only.
I cant get my 883 spring compressed enough. I rented some compressor like the ones in this video from oreillys but the bolts are getting really tight. Im using a 3/8 impact and its barley turning the bolts. I cant turn it by hand unless i use a breaker bar with the spring in a vise. I think im gonna take it to a shop. Getting way to sketchy
You’ll need a lot of power to turn it. That’s why I used an impact but yeah safety first always. Just gave shop assemble the strut and you can put it back together. Take note of the top hat and bottom position
Did the 883 spring lifted your rear end perfectly? I got 3in on the front and now my rear is sagging with a little spacer I need the right spring to be put on?
@@california199_7 I think you have it mixed up. The 883 springs are for the front not the rear. In the rear I went with ome 890s and the truck is lifted about 2.5-3" all around without any spacers.
Sorry for all the questions.. 😂 but just found your channel and this is the best 4runner channel I've found! Learning so much. I just upgraded my 2001 4runner with the TRD wheels. So, 265/70R17. The front right tire was rubbing the OEM side step panel thing. Would a 1.5 in lift be enough to fix that rub and keep original side steps? Thank you so much
I have a stock 2000 4runner 4wd. Will what you installed on yours fit on what I have? If so would you be able to send me the links to what you ordered? I have been looking for weeks on what I need to order but I really don’t know. Please help! Thank you!!!
Love this video...watching it for the 10th time atleast.. ive learned so much and was wondering if you did this again .. what would you do differently....also if you do, what's your opinion on JBA upper control arms. Thanks so much
Everything seems fine but I’d probably get the lc shocks to go with the rear springs. Jba looks good but spc is the way to go for adjustability if you need to fit large tires
@@PhoRunner thanks for the feedback, I guess I'm gonna have to save up more for the spc vs the jba. .I mean, I'm a weekend camping. 2wd 3rd gen 4runner. (2002 sport edition) idk if I need the spc If I'm not doin any crazy trails. Anza borrego will be my stopping grounds.
Hi, I recognized your 4Runner at the parking lot of Home Depot a while back. I'm looking to do the same upgrade on my 3rd gen and wanted to know how you like this setup with the land cruiser coil springs. I also saw your video on changing the rear shock absorbers for longer travel. Did you keep the same coil springs from the land cruiser after changing the rear shock absorbers? Are you still running the same size tires (265/70r17) now or have you changed to a bigger tire since? Would you mind sharing your list of parts that you've changed to complete this setup? I'd really appreciate it. Thank you for your informative videos. If like to join your group when you hit the trails one of these days. I'm a noobie so I'm still learning the 'how-to's' of 4 wheeling. Thank you for your time.
I really like what you got going on. I’m looking for 2”front / 2.5 rear using Front. Moog 81088 coils with Bilistean 5100s set @ 1.75 resulting In slightly over 2” Why Moog? Strong spring providing slight increase 0.5-1.0 over OEM height. In combination with Bilistean 1.75 adjustments 2”- 2.3 is pretty much guaranteed. Big plus , no differential drop needed. Rear OME 890 spring with Bilistean 5100. I might have to add 0.5 shim for level-slight rake. What do you think?
PhoRunner Channel Right on. I’m currently running 265/75R16 on 96 Limited using Daystar spacer kit - 1” front original coil / 1.5 rear on Moog. Driver Side - Center hub to fender Front 22” & Rear 22.5 Rear. Passenger Side 22.5 / 22.5 Im thinking extra front height obtained came from cheap struts purchased online. Setup works providing ok ride for over 6 years but as measurements show wicked front driver side lean now taking place..half inch close to empty tank. What a mess! Anyway thanks much for your opinion. I look forward to upgrade early 2021
Ordered some built 5100 from wheelers and they came with the end of the springs facing perpendicular to the frame. Do you think I’m going to have to compress the springs and re orient them or can I just toss them in and run it. Wheelers said it shouldn’t matter but I don’t buy it...
why should the front shock be on the bottom perch? i have some adjustable bilsteins in the front as well but they're a different part number and I'm trying to figure out what i need to do to go up from a 2 inch to a 3 inch lift. thinking of getting the 883 ome
I changed mine to the 2nd perch. It’s for more travel I suppose. Ome suggests that bottom perch but many run it on the 2nd from bottom. I think it rides better
OK I made up my mind this is the lift. I’m going with. I picked up a off-road back bumper for really cheap on marketplace. And I’m going to order my ARB bumper. Anything else I should factor in with this lift combo?
I've having same issue with my 99 limited, non loaded it sits level but when loaded it sags in the rear. I'm thinking king's or go your route with belisteins with those. The issue is I'm trying to go 35's 😭😭😭
I guess I was meaning the one with lifted struts not the strut spacers and the v2 mono tube shocks for rear. Costs about $900. Thanks for the reply love your truck just got a 4Runner about 2 weeks ago
Hello: Do you mind sharing where did you get the running board and the front bumper? I have been looking for them but could not find any for 3rd gen 4runner.
Thank you for your work. Can you recommend me a spring to go with 1991-1997 Toyota Land Cruiser Shock (48531-69417) for rear? I would only want 2-3' lift... other website that sells a lift kit is only offering OME 880, 881, 883 for the rear. Can I use them instead? What's the difference between 861 that you are recommending? Thanks!
OME 880/881/883 are for the front only. the spring size is different. OME 861 would work in the rear but will give you a lot of lift if you have no weight in the back. I would only get OME 861 if you have a rear tire carrier and plate bumper back there. OME 890 may be a better choice for the rear if you want 3" lift. OME906 for 2" lift. For the front, OME883 for 3" lift or 881 for 2" lift.
It doesn't matter at all but it tells the next person if they got it on/off right without stripping the threads by banging it on/off :). It's also easier to remove when it's on properly since the nut is towards the front.
hmm the lift didn't really affect my MPG compared to all the added weight lol. My MPG has always been terrible though. 12 city and 17 highway. I'll see what the next fillup is.
Great Video! How may miles on your 4Runner ? And random question - anyone know if 5th Gen TRD Shocks and Springs will fit my 3rd Gen SR5 - someone is getting rid of them ? Thanks!

Hey PhoRunner, you made this look so easy to replicated it, I would like to replace my all suspension myself soon, I will to use 2" lift with bilstein 4600 Raised. But I got a question for you, bilstein explain that the circle clip if is at the lowest setting is Stock height then, the second Setting is 1", third setting 2", and last setting 2" 1/2".. if I already bought a coil which supost to be 2" raised. Should I match with the 2 Setting the whole Strut? Thanks mate!...
If the spring is already a lift spring, use the lowest setting or second setting. The rest are not pleasurable from experience (too much preload and bump steer)

Any idea what that is. I'm not running a heavy front end either. Should I have went with the 881s instead 2wd 4runner ...
Following this video, I was able to assemble the shock, coil, and top hat - with the perch-tophat alignment you described. Took me several tries, but I did it. Question: Why do you put the spacer for the driver side? Or do you put it on both sides?
The shop I used top ring perch for ome springs. Think I could still lower it down to the lowest perch and still achieve my lift? Ome springs and I've been unfortunately riding for a year like this but only like 3k miles
I have a 98 4runner 2wd, will the 906’s and 881’s be a level kit? I don’t care anything really in the car, so will it sag at all, or over a loooong period of time?
@@PhoRunner I think it actually it is this one haha. Thanks for the advice man! Wish I could show you how it turns out this coming week when I put them on, but I appreciate your advice brother!
So I don't plan to run heavy bumpers or a drawer system. What would you recommend I should get so I could achieve the same height as your runner without the heavy springs? Love your video bro keep it up 🤙🍻
Thanks for the great informative video. One question, is it really that sketchy to use that type of spring compressor? I got the same type as you from oreillys and am planning on doing this tomorrow, but I’m slightly worried because I know everyone says it’s dangerous. Any tips for swapping the top hats for the front?
No tips. Just do what I did. If you use the lowest or 2nd lowest perch, it’s not sketchy at all. I did the top perch once and had to compress it soooo much
@@PhoRunner Okay good to know, i'm actually putting this on a GX470 but figured it will be somewhat similar. Is it true that the coils actually provide the lift in the front and not the 5100's correct? I saw on the yotamafia site that they say to use the very bottom perch on the 5100's, would you recommend this? Im putting 5100's with OME 885's. Hoping to get slightly more than a 2" lift, but not quite 2.5". Thanks for all the insight.
My Daughters 4Runner needs a new suspension, but will almost never see dirt but likes the look of the lift. no aftermarket bumpers or sliders. so what spring would you recommend? Appreciate your videos.
OME 890 or toytec 9602RC-P. I think i'd go with toytec since i hear OME sags over time a lot. www.toyteclifts.com/catalog/product/view/id/5164/s/9602rc-p-toytec-rear-3-inch-lift-coils-96-02-4runner/category/170/
sorry in advance if you already answered this question. How much of a lift did you get from the OME 883? what were the measurements? you are on the bottom perch of the 4runner 5100's? I appreciate it trying to figure out what spring to go with and what perch setting to go with before I take this apart again.
so you could have run the 884 on the 1st perch - it would end in the exact same result (lift speaking) and that's I'm gonna do on my J95 prado Thanks for all your work@@PhoRunner

Hi, what model LandCruiser did you get the front coil springs that you used for the rear of your 4runner? Thank you for your time
Thanks. Great videos. Keep them coming
thanks for watching
@phorunner - what top hats are you running with the front 5100s? Also, read you ended up moving to the 2nd perch - no issues there?
Stock and no issues at all!
Toytec
What model of tires does your vehicle have?
Wildpeak at3w in this video
I have a question are those Land Cruiser front springs?
Yes from 1990-1995
I wasn't sure if you were Vietnamese based on the name of the channel, but then I saw the working in slippers. That's when I knew. lol
Lol yes I am Vietnamese
@@bradleypalmer4286 sorry I was confused my fault but yeah I prefer the 890 for the rear
Were those used LC springs or dirty new ones ?
Used
Sorry for all the questions.. Thank you so much
It sure will
Hello are the extended struts you have on the link direct fit for the rear ?
Somewhat. Just need the washers
I have a stock 2000 4runner 4wd. Will what you installed on yours fit on what I have? If so would you be able to send me the links to what you ordered? I have been looking for weeks on what I need to order but I really don’t know. Please help! Thank you!!!
Yes it will fit and all the links and info is in my video description
You’ll be just fine with jba!
Would you recommend 861’s for the rear ?
Yeah if you have a rear swing out and rear storage and big tires. Lots of folks are happy with them as they won’t sag over time like the 891s
Bro I know this is a weird question do you know the name of your jacket? It looks really cool I've been looking for one just like that for years lol
I don’t know the name but it’s definitely from Costco lol
i like how you didn’t cut to a stupid vine or something when you said “take the Jack Off”..
Lol my mind isn’t that broke fortunately.
Do you need to do a front diff drop on on a 3 inch lift ?
It’s definitely gonna sling grease haha. Either way if it’s dropped or not. :(

Any issue with you pan hard bar? Has the stock configuration given you any trouble?
Hmm no issues yet but it does seem to bounce around back there lol.

Are the land cruiser springs front springs or rear spring?
They are the land cruiser front springs.
@@PhoRunner thanks! You da man!
I really like what you got going on.
I’m looking for 2”front / 2.5 rear using
Front.
Moog 81088 coils with Bilistean 5100s set @ 1.75 resulting In slightly over 2”
Why Moog? Strong spring providing slight increase 0.5-1.0 over OEM height.
In combination with Bilistean 1.75 adjustments 2”- 2.3 is pretty much guaranteed.
Big plus , no differential drop needed.
Rear
OME 890 spring with Bilistean 5100.
I might have to add 0.5 shim for level-slight rake.
What do you think?
Sounds reasonable. 2” lift with 32” tires is perfect in my opinion
PhoRunner Channel Right on.
I’m currently running 265/75R16 on 96 Limited using Daystar spacer kit - 1” front original coil / 1.5 rear on Moog.
Driver Side - Center hub to fender Front 22” & Rear 22.5 Rear.
Passenger Side 22.5 / 22.5
Im thinking extra front height obtained came from cheap struts purchased online.
Probably fine if it doesn’t hit the knuckle
why should the front shock be on the bottom perch? i have some adjustable bilsteins in the front as well but they're a different part number and I'm trying to figure out what i need to do to go up from a 2 inch to a 3 inch lift. thinking of getting the 883 ome
I changed mine to the 2nd perch. It’s for more travel I suppose. Ome suggests that bottom perch but many run it on the 2nd from bottom. I think it rides better
You also don’t want a lot of Preload on the spring but the 2nd perch seems better
OK I made up my mind this is the lift. I’m going with. I picked up a off-road back bumper for really cheap on marketplace. And I’m going to order my ARB bumper. Anything else I should factor in with this lift combo?
Longer shocks. I got a video on this too
I've having same issue with my 99 limited, non loaded it sits level but when loaded it sags in the rear. I'm thinking king's or go your route with belisteins with those. The issue is I'm trying to go 35's 😭😭😭
35s should be ok with land cruiser springs. The front is the main problem with rubbing. Got a video coming soon related to that lol
What do you think about the 3inch rough country lift kit
If you got blown shocks or original shocks, I wouldn’t.
I guess I was meaning the one with lifted struts not the strut spacers and the v2 mono tube shocks for rear. Costs about $900. Thanks for the reply love your truck just got a 4Runner about 2 weeks ago
I don’t have any experience with rough country
I paid $700 ish for my bilstein ome setup but prices have all shot up now :(
Damn that’s a good deal and I know man it sucks all this stuff had to happen when I want start my build 😕
Hello: Do you mind sharing where did you get the running board and the front bumper? I have been looking for them but could not find any for 3rd gen 4runner.

Gonna need 881 and above or you will have a lot of rake
@@PhoRunner I will go brand new Tundra shocks + OME 890 for rear. AND Oredy 171351L set on amazon for Front. Thank you so much! :):)
What difference does it make mounting the lower front shock bolt either way? Asking for a friend 🥸
It doesn't matter at all but it tells the next person if they got it on/off right without stripping the threads by banging it on/off :). It's also easier to remove when it's on properly since the nut is towards the front.
How's your mpg after the lift?
hmm the lift didn't really affect my MPG compared to all the added weight lol.

Sorry, I’m confused. Which front/ rear springs did you use? I have a ‘99 2WD and would like to add some lift to it as well.
Front is a OME 883 coil spring (made for toyota 4runner)
Rear is using a FRONT 90-95 land cruiser 7.5 wrap coil spring (made for land cruiser front supsension but works in 4runner rear).
@@PhoRunner Thank you for clearing that up!
Check my description. I have some details in there too
What ton jack do you use for the 4runner? Is 1.5 ton sufficient enough? Thanks
I would use 3 ton for the rear and 6 ton for the front . 3 tons will do but the height is the concern
I like those rock sliders where did you get them from. Nice video and loving your rig.
rock sliders are from 4xinnovation. www.4xinnovations.com/1990--2020-4-Runner-Rock-Sliders_p_75.html

Yes
Hey brother, great video 👏 I followed your steps in installing my 883s but for some weird reason I'm getting a big time wobble. . I can't go past 20mph without the whole front end shaking. Any idea what that is. I'm not running a heavy front end either. Should I have went with the 881s instead 2wd 4runner ...
What perch are you on? You should not get a wobble with lift springs.
What kind of shaking exactly? Upload a video to RUclips and link it!
Following this video, I was able to assemble the shock, coil, and top hat - with the perch-tophat alignment you described. Took me several tries, but I did it. Question: Why do you put the spacer for the driver side? Or do you put it on both sides?
I have some lean so I corrected it by adding the plate on driver side
Have you thought about putting in airbags? Why or why not?
I have since I do tow a boat. But for daily driving, not really.
The shop I used top ring perch for ome springs. Think I could still lower it down to the lowest perch and still achieve my lift? Ome springs and I've been unfortunately riding for a year like this but only like 3k miles
You could lower it but you’d lose your lift. It probably rides pretty bouncy right now doesn’t it?
@@PhoRunner yes! Think the spring lost how tall the lift would have been if we started on lower perch first? Not sure if I ruined the spring now

why is the driver side spring larger than the passenger side spring?
Gas tank/battery/driver on that side. Mainly heavy gas tank thoigh

I have a 98 4runner 2wd, will the 906’s and 881’s be a level kit? I don’t care anything really in the car, so will it sag at all, or over a loooong period of time?
906/880 should get you right. The 881 might make the front higher than rear
@@PhoRunner thank you!

Any 3” lift spring will work. Toytec is a good option
When you did the springs and shocks did they make noise right after when you drove it I just did mine and I’m getting noise
No noises. Maybe bushing noises?? but everything should be tight down there. I get some squeaks from those polyurethane bushings
Thanks for the great informative video. One question, is it really that sketchy to use that type of spring compressor? I got the same type as you from oreillys and am planning on doing this tomorrow, but I’m slightly worried because I know everyone says it’s dangerous. Any tips for swapping the top hats for the front?
It’s not too bad. Just make sure they are in good shape. Threaded rod looks good and clamps aren’t jacked.
Hoping to get slightly more than a 2" lift, but not quite 2.5". Thanks for all the insight.
The shock perch position will provide lift. I suggest the 2nd lowest for better ride. The preload gives you a better ride.
My Daughters 4Runner needs a new suspension, but will almost never see dirt but likes the look of the lift. no aftermarket bumpers or sliders. so what spring would you recommend? Appreciate your videos.

Thanks for the video! Do you think that the 6112 Bilsteins for the Tacoma or Tundra would be an equivalent to what you have here?
Not sure. But I know some people use the tundra up front
Did you have to drop the diff with the lift ?
Yes I do. Made another video on that
Did you have to get longer studs for the top hat to fit the spacer? My top hat doesn't seem like it has as much tread left to tighten the nuts on top
Not for this spacer. It’s small enough to not need that

sorry in advance if you already answered this question. How much of a lift did you get from the OME 883? what were the measurements? you are on the bottom perch of the 4runner 5100's? I appreciate it trying to figure out what spring to go with and what perch setting to go with before I take this apart again.
measurements (~22inches from sr5 flare) but I’m on the 2nd perch from the bottom now. I suspect it’s 2.5” with the extra weight I have up front.
so you could have run the 884 on the 1st perch - it would end in the exact same result (lift speaking) and that's I'm gonna do on my J95 prado
