As passholders we do spend quite a bit, family of four, platinum FL, food etc. And we do end up buying a bit of merch because it's not our homepark. Also we end up spending extra on food (snacks) So they do need to add at least one more coaster. 2 coasters is not enough
They could, instead of trying to thin out passholders, be trying to make early entry more of a perk for families, specifically families staying on site. I really doubt they are trying to thin out pass holder numbers. My use of a gold pass last year lead me to my current $1500 bundle for this year, and I still have to add a meal plan. But yeah, I mean essentially the really guests they want to please are the people staying on site, and most of those people are families with kids who aren't going to go ride maverick.
CP better make this right! I drive down from Detroit to get there at 9 just for early entry! Are they gonna stay open an extra hour at night for ERT for passholders? That would be nice
I would say they get lots $ from some pass holders. I live close enough that it’s convenient but far enough that I prefer to book overnight stays. Every year I give them thousands of dollars months before a use their services. I have three stays at breakers already booked and will say this list has already left a nasty taste in my mouth. I wish they would make announcements further in advance. I feel like they are about to cheapen the experience even more in the coming years. I wish a real enthusiast owned this park!
At my home park, Dorney Park ended early access to all pass holders right after COVID shut downs. Luckily, Hershey Park has kept their early access for King Size Pass Holders and those who stay at Hershey Hotel and Hershey Lodge.
Good video! Everyday early entry isn't as common as you seem to think. I don't think Six Flags offers it at any of their parks. Most smaller chains don't offer it. Universal only offers it to Premium Annual Pass members. Even most Cedar Fair parks don't offer any early entry at all, and Kings Island only offers a half hour with 2 coasters that rotate throughout the year. (Past years, KI has not released its 2023 schedule yet.) I'm not as familiar with Carowind's benefits, but I'm pretty sure it's only a half hour. Cedar Point has alway had the best early entry package of all Cedar Fair parks and they are always subject to change not only from year to year, but even within the season. Keep in mind, there was a time when early birds were grateful they would let them in the park at 9 a.m. so they could just get in line for the newest attraction for a normal 10 a.m. opening. I'm actually a little surprised to hear you and others (in the comments) that have Fast Lane Plus Season Long being disappointed by this. You even imply that early entry was more important to you before FLPSL was offered. For me, I have been an on-and-off Cedar Point season pass holder of one type or another since 1986. Disappointment is nothing new. I pretty much got turned off to early entry when they shut down the back lot and made the Magnum Gate for Breakers and Lighthouse Point guests only. I actually could see a point in the future where early entry is for overnight guest only. I also think that with the way the've moved to renovating and retheming complete sections of their parks, I could see the trend continue in the future. So next year expect the new rethemed Dragster plaza and Camp Snoopy to be the early entry offering in 2024. I don't think they want to get rid of any season pass holders. Keep in mind they like to boast those season pass sales numbers as much as in-park guest spending numbers during those stock holder conference calls.
Six flags does a thing where members get in a little early but just so they get a head start to rides. Dollywood does an early entry on select occasions so I assume sdc does the same but don’t know. As for us being disappointed, we’re more disappointed for all the others who rely on EE like we used to. Plus we do enjoy going for EE still to beat the crowds and avoid traffic.
Thanks for the update. I hadn't heard it yet so a great report. If early entry is held to 1 section, I guess that is a cost savings idea. Only needing to staff the 1 area. I don't understand why they don't rotate the area if that is what they are trying to do. We're platinum passholders but our home park is Canada's Wonderland. The area that is open for early entry rotates throughout the season. Why don't they do that? The theory that passholders spend less is interesting. I don't agree that passholders make less money. On a per day basis maybe but over a season? Even at CW over the season we've accumulated quite a bit in food because of the amount of times we go. A non-passholder might spend more in a day but may only go 1 or 2 times, I bet we spend more over the season total. Also, for Platinum holders we definitely spend a lot because we are committed to Cedar Fair. We come to Cedar Point at least 1 or 2 times a season AND we stay at the hotel plus having a Platinum pass makes us travel to try the other parks we never probably would have otherwise. This year we're trying King's Dominion and we probably would have never gone without the pass. We also buy merch at Cedar Point every year and even some things at CW (although that could be less than other visitors). Last though, doesn't early entry help with lines & guest satisfaction throughout the day? If we go and ride Millennium Force a few times in the morning. We probably skip it for the main part of the day (leaving it open to others) and maybe ride again at night.
Judging by the list my guess is that it's to keep people out of the back half of the park. These rides are all right next to each other. Let's just hope that they are using the extra 60 minutes of work time to get dragster updated and ready to go. I think they want to keep guests toward the front of the park and that seems obvious. But they should add Raptor, Valravn and MaxAir
I understand the initial backlash. People have gotten really spoiled over the last few years with Cedar Point's Early Entry process and really appreciated the passholder benefits and the EE rides. However, I agree that there is another benefit here:
Remember how Platinum passholders complained about the lack of value or not feeling special anymore compared to the Gold passes? Well they changed that by not only removing Early Entry from the Gold pass but they've also created a brand new tier to likely respond to the theory that the cheaper Gold passes were offering too much value, leading to much larger crowds post 2019. So I think the changes to Early Entry also overlap with the new Prestige and Platinum passes in leveling out the park's capacity. As a result, I think we might see a small decrease in attendance for CP but revenue overall should remain healthy and consistent due to the slightly more expensive Prestige/Prestige+ passes this year. I also agree that I think they’re doing this for 2023 to kinda control the early morning rush or people that are likely gonna go straight into the brand new Boardwalk area anyway to check out Wild Mouse. It’s kinda incentivizing the prestige/platinum passholders to knock that area out early. Maybe if the majority of these passholders can get in and out of Boardwalk area early in the day it could simmer down the general crowds later in the day.
I am a platinum passholder for kings island. Do I get early entry at all cedar fair parks (that have early entry) or just at my home park?? Do you all know?
Platinum is for cedar fair not a particular park. You’re eligible for all benefits for every park. So yes, you can definitely get early entry for all cedar fair parks. (That have it available)
Also, to be fair, most other Cedar Fair parks (not even Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds, or Kings Island) have never offered this level of daily, one-hour, 10-14 rides available for Early Entry option at all, especially back in 2021 when nearly half the park was available for Early Entry. We also know that CP (especially since 2020) has struggled with consistently having rides ready for EE. I went to Canadas Wonderland and Kings Island a few times last year during their EE and they also had a lot of struggles getting rides up and running on time. So this isn't an issue unique to Cedar Point. Maybe the entire chain is realizing that they may need to pull back on the EE offerings to ensure more on-time consistency. So for CP, that's another added incentive to revise their EE list with the new area opening up
So garbage! Just another excuse for a company to save money and provide an artificial demand for a “new” area of the park! Haven’t had a ground up coaster since valravn! Think about that! And 2024 isn’t ground up! These are disney like moves without the demand of Disney! It will catch up with them. For a second in any world, even with recent theming, how could u possibly consider them to compete with universal or Disney! It’s a company trying to save money while driving in families! Yeah for me with this park it's just all the little things adding up. At this point whenever they have something to say, I brace myself for disappointment.
What I think would’ve worked out well and this is coming from a gold pass user have the 2022 early entry rides be just available for platinum passholders and have the 2023 early entry rides be for gold, pass users and gatekeeper with except both as it was early entry for 2022 and 2023
They tried to do the thing where gold and platinum get different rides and it was too difficult for them to maintain so they dropped it. They even tried to do 30 minutes for gold but even that was too much for them to handle.
Recently decided to spend the extra money to stay on site in may because i had heard everywhere how good the early entry was, sucks to think there was basically no reason for me to do that
$250 for platinum vs $180 last year! Crazy but now it’s $280 for platinum! I have Gold but upgrading to platinum again cause I will be hitting KI a few times and for CoasterStock still well worth it but not for early entry
No one stays ar Breakers only for the ERT. Also, if you want to reduce passholders, you just sell less of them. CF can limit the number they sell. Also, they can sell them for a higher price if they want to sell less of them. I think the problem for ERT is labor and finding the people to work the extra hours. Also passholder dollars are preferred dollars because they come earlier. The earlier you get a person's money, the more it's worth.
@@BeachcliffStudios The main reason people stay on site is because it's on site. The extra hour doesn't really get you much as too often many rides are closed anyways. It's a nice perk, but the hotels will still sell out in the summer if they didn't have this.

This is the first year ever in my adult life that I will not have a pass to CP. And it was this awful early entry lineup that made my decision not to renew my platinum pass. I used to go to CP 10+ times a year, and Kings Island 2 or 3 times a year. Now I think it will be 1 time for each.
It’s too bad that their decision made you do this but that’s the risk they take with some of their choices. Hopefully next year we get back to a more normal EE schedule.
I didn't renew my pass either. But it was more because of the price. $500+ for a platinum pass + drink plan and meal plan. I think I'd rather spend that money checking out some other parks I've never been to.
Yeah I totally disagree with this idea that they don't want passholders. During their most recent earnings call that was highlighted as a huge part of their revenue. I think most enthusiasts are fooling themselves when they think they're getting one over on CF by having meal plans, platinum passes, etc. (that's exactly how products like that are designed to make you feel) lol.
I never heard anyone say that they think they’re getting over on a park for having passes. Cedar fair gets a lot of money from me, that’s for sure. And we were just going over theories we heard and giving reasons why they may be true. We lean heavily on the cost saving theory because that’s what they do these days, reduce services to save money.
We’re referring to the way cedar fair views it. Obviously our 3kish a year we spend on our stuff is more than a family coming in for a couple days but cedar point counts per day. If 20k people walk through the gate the non passholders will spend more that day than the passholders.
This new ride line up for early entry is a disgrace for sure! Idk about you but I definitely don’t want to start my CP day off with a big crowd of people all in one area. 😤I’ll try it once but I’m sure it will be a mess so after that I’ll just use that extra hour for footage of the park 🤷♀️
Cedar Point is still recovering from the pandemic and now the issues caused by the lack of Russian migrant workers are making themself apparent Plus, sometimes I went to Cedar Point and some rides for EE weren't even open during the '22 season. Either still being worked on or just down due to Cedar Point's collapsing maintenance department Steel Vengeance early entry is basically impossible as they need all the time they can get during the morning to try and diagnose and fix structure issues so the ride can be safe during the day Also, what is your opinion on the hole being dug near Iron Dragon? It looks like a spike is happening for TT
It was said that cedar point needs more carpenters to do the pre opening for steel vengeance. We’re at EE about once a week and we usually got on a few rides in that time so it worked for us. As for the hole, who knows. Could be for a new footer for iron dragon, that seems most likely because of the placement.
Late to the show. My guess is CP adds a ride or two mid June when staffing is better and crowds are larger. Letter not forget the staffing issues they have had in may in recent years
You could be right but they’ve never added coasters to the line up in the past unless they were replacing a ride that had an extended maintenance issue. We can only hope that they do something though.
they certainly don't make any money off gold pass members seeing how they go on sale for $99 which is less than the price of a single day ticket plus the cost of parking. as far a Steel Vengeance ever being on early entry again, I think that's never going to happen due to the sheer amount of time it takes the carpenters to inspect the ride every day and pound the nails back in
I used to love amusement parks but now hate them. Too expensive. Too crowded. Too much time waiting. I used to drive ten minutes to kennywood, pay $3.50 to get in. Buy enough tickets for a ride or two. Eat on the patio. Then go home. The last time I was there (2019) it was miserable with a capital M.
How you think they are gonna pay 20+ million to put a spike on dragster... starting to wonder if the money being spent on ttd is even worth it since the ride is 20 yrs old, I feel like any price raises will be to pay for that "upgrade" if you want to call it that lol
Well we don’t know the cost the refurbished dragster. The spike alone won’t cost 20 million but the trains, the LSMs, the electrical work, spike, land clearing/prep…could be upwards of that amount.
@@BeachcliffStudios yea, thats what im getting at, the total cost of the upgrade, it "seems like" they are gonna build this spike thing, for what I assume is for some kind of swing launch, but who really knows what they are doing honestly, no blueprints have been found yet... I'm glad that they have a good track record and typically build great/good rides( maybe not shoot the rapids )😆
Look I get it everyone is upset but get over it. Be lucky we can even go to these parks despite how many still wont work.. I believe staffing is one of the biggest reasons this list is small..
Who are these people who won’t work? Very low unemployment rate says people are working, the difference is people aren’t taking poor jobs that deal with angry public anymore.
CP already has issues with fast lane. Sometimes the lines for fast lane will be super long also. So if that’s their thinking they need to get replace those people and hire new people. Maybe make fast exclusively available for purchase for pass holders and don’t offer the season long fast lane. They are already saving millions by not having dragster open last year and this year.
There was supposed to be little shamrocks at the beginning of the video but accidentally got removed. Whoops

It was said that cedar point needs more carpenters to do the pre opening for steel vengeance. We’re at EE about once a week and we usually got on a few rides in that time so it worked for us.
As for the hole, who knows. Could be for a new footer for iron dragon, that seems most likely because of the placement.
Dragster must be costing them more than they thought lol damn they took away a lot of rides for early entry.
Amusement parks are not for everyone
I'm soooo glad I waited and didn't get platinum pass to get early entry gold pass will do just fine the early entry is complete trash this year
I think as of now millennium force is also on the list
That's it? There has to be more coming. That's not even worth going early.
You guys are so funny lol
They gotta pay all those legal fees from the lawsuits by former employees.
they probably had to pay out big to the lady who got hurt in the Dragster line too
Look I get it everyone is upset but get over it. Be lucky we can even go to these parks despite how many still wont work.. I believe staffing is one of the biggest reasons this list is small..
Who are these people who won’t work? Very low unemployment rate says people are working, the difference is people aren’t taking poor jobs that deal with angry public anymore.
@@BeachcliffStudios hence why I said how many still wont work.. Jobs such as this and fast food are still affected.. Because ppl wont work them..
I’m very disappointed. I hope it’s a staffing issue but that’s me being hopeful.
Cedar point is falling apart
I wouldn’t say that but yeah this is pretty annoying
This is trash. What a huge disappointment.
Why is CP management so dumb now?
Early entry is basically pointless now.
😂😂 here comes the moneyyyyyyyy
You caught that
@@BeachcliffStudios that was amazing haha esp the pic of Lavell laying on the money.

Money. It all comes down to money. Their job is to separate the park goers from their money.
