My Temple Visits - Sri Somanatheeswarar Temple and Rock Cut Cave Temple, Mahendravadi
A video diary capturing the Two Temples of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu at Mahendravadi. A divine place indeed surrounded by very pleasant greenery. Mahendravadi is a small village
located close to Arakonam around 40kms from Kanchiupuram. We visited the temple for Lord Shiva were he is worshipped as Somanatheeswarar in Lingam form and his consort is Goddess Parvathi as Lamakshi Amman. This is one of the Navagraha temples dedicated to Lord Chandran. It's believed that Lord Chandran was once cursed by Dhakshan so he created the place and worshipped Lord Shiva who removed his curse. The village has a Pallava period cave temple. The idol of Yoga Narasimha is placed inside the shrine which is presenty under the control of the HRCE department.
We were very fortunate to have planted a Vilvam tree in this Shiva Temple.
