This step-by-step tutorial video showcases the power of the new start and wait for an approval of text action in flows.
This new approval action starts an automated text approval process and then waits for it to complete. The approval type is "First to Respond".
We will leverage this action to add human oversight for AI generated actions like extract information from email body and generate CSV file in Power Automate. The approver will get a "suggested text" option which they can accept or modify. The response is logged in a property called "accepted text".
I will leverage the new start and wait for an approval of text action for approval scenarios with SharePoint and also showcase a workaround for multiple approval of text options more like a custom approval form scenario for Power Automate Approvals.

@Reza - Is this equivalent to what was available in Nintex where we can seek input from User? This was missing in PowerAutomate.
I have not done much work with Nintex. This is an option to take text input from approver.

When trying to use this new approval on a sharepoint list, I get the error message that "The current user does not have permission to create a Microsoft Dataverse database fir this environment" For your video, it looks like you are using a SharePoint list. Can you provide some feedback? Thank you !
Approvals requires dataverse to be setup for the environment. My environment has dataverse setup.
@@RezaDorrani thank you for your prompt response. OK, that is my issue. I don't have a dataverse setup for the app that this new functionality would be super useful, I only created a Sharepoint and 2 lists with a custom form in PowerApps (Canvas) and with that I'm able to use the "regular" approval "Create and wait for an approval" without issues. Again, thanks for your feedback. I'll check your videos to see how I can setup that so I can use this new functionality as I need to use a SharePoint site per my boss request.

No direct option for canvas app. If you notice for advanced option as well, I linked user to approval center. Probably there may be a way by updating all approval tables (many tables handle approval process) but that is not something I have attempted

nice mate... very nice. And, as you mentioned, given today's AI environment, it's a must have. Question, a big swath of the office 365 includes government Users (specifically referring to those NOT in the GCC High tenant) do not have access to actionable messaging from approvals action in Power Automate. This is very problematic on many levels. Aside from teams (poor adoption rate vs. outlook), is there an alternative? With the introduction of AI, Microsoft may want to re-think current restrictions with the approval action. How else will this very large swath of customers be able to responsibly leverage the new AI technologies. It's more likely to be deployed without taking this very important step... love your wok mate...

I am not keeping of track for GCC feature sets. I believe there must be some restrictions related to actionable messaging there. I agree that these feature sets would be a great add-on to GCC.

Hi Reza, this AI model which you used to extract data, was it confined to some regions? I'm working from India, unable to find the model.

Great tutorial, I like the additional fields option on the approval action. Now is it possible to display the image source content (if I extract/OCR data from an image and then I want a reviewer to validate the extracted data) on the approvals screen with the extracted fields on the side? I want to display both the image content and the editable fields values on the same approval UI?
How could I achieve this?

You cannot show the image there as far as I know. You could send it as an attachment. Also, you could use the description of the approval action to show the value.

I don't want to give to the reviewer an option to download the image to their local computer. I would like to display the image content on the UI to allow the reviewers to see the image content to be able to correct the extracted fields values from the AI builder or form recognizer. Is that possible?

@@RezaDorrani please how could I accomplish this in an Azure logic app flow (using document intelligence and gpt to query on extracted text)? The reason why I want to use Azure document intelligence for ICR as it read better than AI Builder hand written (I've tested the same document on both tools but the AI builder is not returning the correct values for some fields like first name ai builder is returning the the zip code as first name). So in Azure logic app flow, I want to extract data from form and then add gpt step to send to gpt a query from the returned text or json response. Thanks

You dont have to use the GPT action, you can try start and wait for an approval of text. I believe the approval action is available for all.

There is no option for file attachments in email notification. Currently, this feature only supports text.

additional field is missing from my dataverse approval table. Is this a preview feature available in certain regions?
nevermind, I had to send an inital request first, then the additional field showed up.

For sure! Microsoft has called it out right where the action is used. AI content can be inaccurate, biased etc.

No, as the flow would immediately wait.
scheduled time is coming wrong into pwer apps from sql db its showing some 1970 o3/10/ 3:30 pm even after storing right values in sql db table . (Actually getting stored false into the target table )

Check documentation for this action. It may not be available in your region or your admin may have blocked access to preview AI Builder features

I have used " Start and wait for an approval" and I made 2 actions "Approve" and Reject. In case "Approve", I have to enter Email address to some body. My problem is I need to chose this email from multichoice[emails] which appear in the email body. so I can chose one choice and then atomically appear in Comment fields which is already appear in email body.

You can always build flows without approvals. This video is all about approvals though.

@@dadicam When I made video, the action was in preview. Now it requires an approval step. It is by design.

Also I noticed that the Pre-built Azure document intelligence has better accuracy/results (e.g: signature detection) than the AI builder models. Is there a way to call an azure logic app flow that does the ICR to my power automate flow? If yes, can you please provide sample with video tutorials?

Do you have tutorial for multiple simultaneous approvers in Power Automate wherein if one of them rejects, the approval will restart only for them and not the other approvers? I have been struggling to find solutions and tutorials for that

Hi Mr Reza, first thank you for the video. I've two doubts/ questions my 1st question is, It is sending a notification to the teams i wanted to avoid that, and my second question is, There's one comment box under the approval dropdown, if it approves it is fine, if i reject the approval i need to give a reason why i rejected and that comment box should needs be mandatory. Can you pl tell me how to do that? Openes to all.
1 - teams notification can be avoided by setting notifications to off but that would stop all notifications and then you can send you own custom email but you will lose actionable messaging.
2 - comment box cannot be made mandatory. One option would be to assign the task again to the approver if comment is not provided.

and one more When I click approve in the mail it takes me to another screen i.e., the power automate screen. Since my Manager is too lazy to click multiple clicks can we add those Input boxes within the email body?? just an idea.
