Good question. I think optical flow is more precise and less prone to +/- 5m fluctuations like GPS. There are some GPS modules however that are extremely precise like RTK GPS. Some RTK GPS even claim cm precision.
Hi there Jerome! I would reocmmend checkout out the "Indoor Flight" lecture on my channel. It goes into how to install/setup the optical flow sensor. Then you can use the ArduPilot flight mode of LOITER to lock in on a point. Hope this helps!
optical flow sensor is attached downwards, when it is flown away by 10 feet due to gust of wind, why will it not be able to measure that displacement? Since the camera and distance sensor are always ON, the displacement must me measured. That is the work of optical flow, right?
It can actually measure the displacement. I’ve got a drone with optical flow sensors, it does correct itself indoors when it drifts and outdoors when wind blows on it. Basically any input That didn’t come from the controller is corrected
Hi, @The Drone Dojo, did you take down the video in which you showed how to replace sonar with lidar in PX4flow ?
Thank you ,i see all you video it good for researcher and master to begin with something new❤️🖤
Which one gives accurate positioning optical flow or gps ( requirement is 1m travelling kind of thing)

Hello. How to enable the non optical flow fixed point mode of a drone?

I really like your lessons but how can i watch the videos which you made private ?
cant we use two optical flow one for north-south and east-west ? so this way we can know if we have drifted to lets say west and then fix that?
No because the drone has no way to determine where it is.

The drone know where it isn't [...]
Here is a decent optical flow sensor with built in distance sensor: ruclips.net/video/Nq-a0LgQ1s0/видео.html

Haha well done good sir!!
