The fact Percy used his wish to make all the gods claim their children was so fucking cool. Perseus “Seaweed Brain” Jackson, everyone! He sat in Poseidon’s throne and lived, he saved Manhattan from Kronos, then helped save the WORLD from Gaia, then managed to graduate high school. Icon energy, everyone!
Forgetting that right before this he was super scared Annabeth was gonna join Thalia as a Hunter of Artemis meaning she would be immortal and he would lose her. So yeah he was like "Yeah you know what im good" about meaning mortal when she chose mortality too.
Thing confesses me a bit tough. I mean they offer him godhood and olympians are no strangers to taking mortals as spouses wich then also join the Pantheon. Dyonisos did it, so did Eros. So while the scene is definitely the awesome choice Percy could have been a god and married Annabeth

And most of all, he thought of when Artemis announced a new hunter would be joining them, he was scared out of his mind that it would be Annabeth, he couldn’t fathom her not being the person Artemis was talking about cause to him she was perfect in every way who wouldn’t want her? He knew just how much Annabeth also cared for him, he couldn’t imagine a world where he’d live longer or live without her and new how scared she must’ve felt as well. So he decided, fuck that, he’ll live his happy mortal life with Annabeth in spite of what the gods throw at him and he remembers Ethan, and all the other unclaimed halfbloods that joined Kronos in a desperate attempt at some recognition. He decides that the gods must own up to these actions, he’ll force them if he has too. Tldr, Percy remembered how scared he was when Annabeth was offered immortality, he sees how miserable the gods are and how uncaring the gods are of their kids so he uses his wish to force the gods into claiming them and giving them support

I finished rereading Son of Neptune yesterday (or maybe it happened in the beginning of Mark of Athena, idk) and I just LOVE that Percy canonically made a "dam" joke xD sadly, none of the people who were in on the joke where around :( Kinda hard to be, when one is dead, one immortal and one running around in the wild..... (haven't read Trials of Apollo yet, pls no Spoilers)

It was thematically appropriate considering the whole theme of the books was that being a child of the gods was essentially analogous to having only one parent in modern-day America. It's the sort of meta-theme that gels with the lore of the books itself and that having a greek God for a parent would necessarily imply needing to be stuck in that shitty situation, which is also part of the subversion of Harry Potter it's doing by having "magical summer camp instead of magical school" as well. Honestly, it's really good and ends the series well specifically BECAUSE it's one of the few things you can see him reasonably wishing for that has a lasting impact. I MADE A WHOLE VIDEO ESSAY ON THIS ONE SCENE I SWEAR TO THE GODS -- I STILL think it's such a power move of Percy to ensure some relative safety and accountability from the gods to make sure any other demigods are provided for from now on, amazing vid!
Let’s remember the one thing that makes this better. Hades doesn’t have a throne on Olympus until Percy makes this deal. He was on a crate if I remember correctly.
This is something I actually REALLY love about the Percy Jackson Series. A lot of it’s built like the Hero’s Journey, but rather than ending up returning to the status quo and with Percy satisfied by fulfilling the prophecy without dying and enjoying retiring from hero ship, he actively pushes for things to get BETTER. Everything happened because the system he’s part of was broken by the people with the most power in the world. He doesn’t need a reward and he won’t slink back to how things were now that Kronos is gone. He just wants things to be better from now on.
One of the most heartwarming scenes takes place directly after this it's when percy spoke with Apollo to talk about Luke and also about the gods trying to keep their promise
My most unhinged scene is when Percy just walks into his own funeral and is just like “sup?” Like, dude, THEY THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD FOR TWO WEEKS. I laughed so hard.
Also like 5 min before this when Zues was trying to thank Hades and Poseidon for helping out. Escpically Poseidon. We get to see where Percy gets his quick wits and sass from

In the last fight on top of mount Othrys, Ares curse takes hold which makes Percy unable to lift his sword ( which in turn is what causes him to lift up the sky so that Artemis can fight off Atlas).

This is something I actually REALLY love about the Percy Jackson Series. A lot of it’s built like the Hero’s Journey, but rather than ending up returning to the status quo and with Percy satisfied by fulfilling the prophecy without dying and enjoying retiring from hero ship, he actively pushes for things to get BETTER. Everything happened because the system he’s part of was broken by the people with the most power in the world.
He doesn’t need a reward and he won’t slink back to how things were now that Kronos is gone. He just wants things to be better from now on.
One of the most heartwarming scenes takes place directly after this it's when percy spoke with Apollo to talk about Luke and also about the gods trying to keep their promise

My most unhinged scene is when Percy just walks into his own funeral and is just like “sup?” Like, dude, THEY THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD FOR TWO WEEKS. I laughed so hard.
Also like 5 min before this when Zues was trying to thank Hades and Poseidon for helping out. Escpically Poseidon. We get to see where Percy gets his quick wits and sass from
I imagine while all the gods are freaking out about having to acknowledge the existence of all their children, Artemis locks eyes with Hestia and they share a little smile like "Well, sucks to be them, I guess"😂😂
