- Dave is a Rapid track coach, and has a different riding style to most of the Rapid road coaches. So in a bid to improve all our riding we set off for a day around Wales to see if we can incorporate all the best bits of our techniques into one Rapid package
If you want to be a more confident, intuitive, safer rider, check out www.rapidtraining.co.uk
Great thing to be involved in Dave, good to see the Tuono in action too. Good to keep an open mind to learning, we can all improve
i would imagine it was a good day out! got to evolve, adapt etc and always good to learn new things. cheers.
Mint vid pal . now get editing the weekends activities for us all to see . What a good weekend 👍🏻
Came across your channel today mate, very interesting videos
Have watched a few today
Well done to you , excellent content
Thanks and welcome
Enjoyed that , track and road very different, I always say ride to your capabilities and enjoy , on the road don't try to push to keep up , practice makes you better. Nice vid
I was half-hoping the Police bods would start nicking each other for speeding! That said, it looks like you had a great day out Dave - presumably without any (extra?) points on your license. Bonus! 😇
Nice, thanks again!!!!
Good Video Dave I did Rospa Gold back in 2007 with my work on a Honda ST1300 a bit different to my zx10r, good fun and its surprising how quick you can make those bikes go with a bit of knowledge, am Guessing Rapid teach similar ideas.
Great video, very refreshing to hear that the coaches are working to improving / changing the 'system' if appropriate. I'm out with Rapid on the Roadmaster level 2 course in May, I'm looking forward to doing this around the Lincolnshire Wolds :)
Great that you're getting some Rapid coaching. They're a top team and I'm sure you'll benefit from it
@@obsession_engineering I'm sure I will. Even better my coach lives literally 100m from my house, so can hopefully do a few pleasure rides too.
At 1:36 Curious planning in deciding to extend view and reduce the tightness of the bend when approaching a junction on the offside with what looks like a limited zone of visibility into it. I’ve seen this plenty of times before with advanced riders not seeing the whole picture. Certainly looks like a what if situation to discuss.
We're always open to discussing details and will have a chat through it next time I'm with the Rapid team
Very interesting video and the roads look as bad as these in North Lincolnshire
Would love a scientific approach on measuring what brain areas light up when doing rapid training vs normal riders.
mentions a philosophy of safety, but displays crossing the centerline in corners, how do those reconcile? (serious question, genuinely curious.)
Nothing wrong with an offside position to improve view or allow the riding of a more efficient and stable line. It’s all about when of course.
Look ahead where the centre line is crossed; there's a long clear view up ahead, no danger, and the bike is maintaining a consistent straight path instead of weaving with the road. This keeps the tyre in better contact with the road and maintains consistent load on suspension; much more elegant and actually safer.
Timothy, as with any manoeuvre - if it’s safe, legal and provides a genuine benefit then it should be encouraged.
Once you have an extended view, do what’s safe to keep it.
Always worth noting the camera never really shows what the rider is looking at and what he sees so you get a very different perspective.
We never cross the centre line, if one of the riders behind, or even a rider/riders that's not part of our group catches up and decides to overtake, that's their piece of road. The will be waiting for a clear line of sight to make the pass so in my opinion it's a risky move to cross the centre line.
@@djmorgan823 Nothing risky about it if done correctly.
Great video. Which bike were you on? The Tuono or that Bmw k?
I was on my Tuono. I'm not old enough for the BMW K yet :)
Did you wear a pink hi viz vest when riding?
Like the orange tabards of the new-comers at the Isle of Man TT, you mean?
with Polite on the back :)
