    How do you keep the water cool enough for them to survive in summer?

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  2 месяца назад +1

      I have not added any cooling. But I also do not keep much bait in the dead of summer. Otherwise it seems with it being shaded and sitting on concrete that it stays cool enough when i use it

    1 thing I'd suggest is slow down the current. Current makes bait have to swim non stop and takes it toll on them. You will have more dead bait or weak bait seeing as they need to swim 24 hours a day

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  Год назад +1

      I didn't slow down per say but I changed the angle it pushes at which creates less current

    Hey might be a stupid question I have similar setup and it is hard to net all the shad because I got a 550 gallon tank and there going crazy.. do you just net them or do you have any tips or tricks to get them all out

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the question. I have 2 pretty large nets and I'll chase them one way with one and then scoop from the other direction.

    Have you ever used rain water if so do you add salt or anything to it?

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  Год назад +1

      I have not tried it. I considered it but with the lake being close it's really easy for me to top off. I do not put salt in my tank because I keep bluegill and trout sometimes and they seem to be sensitive to the salt.

    I built a bait tank out of a tote. I am now having trouble keeping it clear. Its looks like PEA SOUP. Any ideas how to correct this?

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  Месяц назад

      The only thing that comes to mind is if it's getting a lot of sun and/or you don't have a UV filter it's probably algae

    How long can you keep gizzard shad? And can you keep Alewifes?

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  Год назад

      I can probably keep gizzards for a couple months at least this time of year. But we normally use them /restock before I run out of they die off. I have no tried to keep alewifes as we typically use them in warm weather here and I do not have a chiller on my tank. I'm very confident I could keep them now if I wanted

    How long will they last in summer weather

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  3 месяца назад

      Id say a month or so. Things are definitely a lot harder in the warmer weather. Like I do not load it down as much. Try to just get enough for a couple of trips. The fact that my tank sits directly on concrete and adding the insulation seemed to help a lot as it stays fairly cool even without a chiller.

    Do you by chance have a 20 gallon (or close) bait tank for sale?

    • @skunkofftackle
      @skunkofftackle  Год назад +1

      No bud I do not. My normal boat tank is a 30 gal Super Bait Tank II or my 100gal homemade tank
