I’m currently rereading it along with the entire Astro Boy manga! I love anything Urasawa or Tezuka and Pluto is NO exception. Astro Boy is now available digitally as of October of last year. So now, even though it hasn’t been in print since ‘02, it’s fully readable through easily accessible means. And my god, I’m loving the original source material too.

I confess I loved this show in the 1980’s, if I had a VCR along with the tapes, I would have recorded every episode up to the final Episode in the show. This was the very first Anime I watched in my Childhood, of course I never called it Anime in my Childhood, I called it Saturday morning Cartoons.

It's ironic that this is uploaded a day ago and I just literally started watching this Astro Boy series on the Retro Crush TV channel yesterday! This series actually pretty good and it has some catchy theme songs for it's time.

I only knew Astro Boy as a promo for GlobalTV in Canada and I never got a chance to see the series until my brother got it on DVD. I saw it and oh man it was awesome. Awesome classic.
Back at the time, Global TV was only a one-station regional network in southern Ontario - in other parts of Canada where Astro Boy was syndicated, it aired either on independent stations in major cities (like CKVU in Vancouver, when it was independent) or on network affiliates in smaller markets where Global was unavailable. It also aired in French (as Astro le Petit Robot) nationally on Radio-Canada.
I remember when I was 10/11 years old in the children’s hospital for pneumonia. Nurse brought me a TV with a PS2 and all I did for those two weeks is watch Astro Boy and play games. Sucks I had pneumonia but those were the best 2 week of my life ngl
I got the manga when my school library was getting rid of it FOR FREE! I only have a few volumes but it reminds me of loonie toons warm and entertaining. I really love it.
I remember coming across astro boy in 5th grade. And i was hooked and I also watched the 2003 version too which is my fave. I'm 18 now. I am sad that they don't make more astro boy. Like there are but it's for preschools. And the 2009 astro boy movie wasn't it. 😞
2 years late BUT there has been work for a new astro boy series called "astro boy: reboot"! Its still being worked on though so itll take a bit for it to release(most likely in development hell)

I remember when the movie came out, it looked SO cool but I didn’t watch it until like 2 years later, and I never became a fan because… that’s really all there was to me (save for buying dvds for the shows that weren’t being sold anywhere). AstroBoy is the first Anime/Manga...he has been around since the 50's and was a forbidden play in America due to adult themes, violence, and the graphic imagery of a little boy being abused and torn apart and assembled and disassembled and what-not. I used to like Mega Man because there wasn't any good AstroBoy games until GBA (the only one).
