people really talking about astro boy in 2024 and I couldn't be happier. if anyone reads this if you've only seen the movie I IMPLORE you to please give the show a try. The 2003 series is the best way to watch it, the dub is easiest to find on streaming but if you're interested in digging there exists fan subtitles for the japanese dub. After that the 1980 series is probably your next best option, the dub and sub are also available on streaming. Really great little show, I can't recommend it enough.
I couldn’t agree more. 2003 series is my favorite
What if I saw the 1982 series?
@@TheNotoriousPunk3709 excellent taste!
@@HanakoFairhall the 1980n series is the one I first saw as well, and it remains my favorite to this day. it does have a lot of... quirks, which is why I recommend the 2003 series to newcomers. the 1980 series and 2003 series share a lot in common, so if you've seen one you'll recognize stuff in the other. I recommend both
Also, check out Pluto. It’s a mature adaptation of the of the Pluto Arc written by Naoki Urasawa.
Astro Boy was an inspiration for Megaman. Just like Mega being a boy working with human and protect them from Rogue Robots.
Astro Boy portrayed by Mega Man.
Astro Boy: Mega Man
Uran: Roll
Dr. Oshay: Dr. Light
Dr. Tenma: Dr. Wily
Honestly, still learning more about the Astro Boy series however I have pre knowledge of the Mega Man series since I was 13 years old. This is just my knowledge of the Astro Boy characters who share the same personality of the Mega Man (classic series) characters.
Who would win in a fight?
Its Astro Boy just by being able to fly at the speed of light
it depends, Megaman has an entire arsenal of weapons and in a fight he would mimic all astros weaponry so its hard to say, i love the 2 of them.
I'm just wondering how an Astro.EXE (battle network) would work-
Don't hate me but I have only seen the movie
Same, I didn’t even know there was a show 😅
Don't hate me, but I've only seen ½ the movie
Then I guess you've come to the right place
@@marshmellowking1292 There are 4 total, the 1963 version, the 1980 version, the 2003 version and the Netflix series in 2023 named Pluto (after the manga spinoff of the same name being a modern manga adaptation of "The Greatest Robot on Earth" story arc from the original Manga.)
Same, but I am trying to find the anime.
Man what did I miss? I know Dr Tenma built Astro after his son but I never knew he was evil
Death of his son drove him to madness. Wasn't originally evil.
He's not really evil in most adaptations. I haven't read the manga or watched the OG anime, but as far as I'm aware, the only adaptations where Tenma really plays an antagonistic role is the 2003 anime and Pluto (due to a specific series of events)
Tenma is crazy in the manga. Sometimes he helps Astro, sometimes he tries to bring Astro back to him by force (like anime 03). But in the end he has to give up because Astro completely rejects him.
@@jienuol9038 which manga? In the one I read he left Astro when robots became legalized citizens, though he was indeed crazy, he laughed it off when he explains to his wife that Astro poops nuclear waste
@@wilsonweiseng6485 I don't know which chapter but after Blue Knight Act Atom was damaged so badly that Dr. Ochanomizu gave in to Tenma to fix Atom his way (trying to turn him into a robot king) and stopped his entire robot family. But when Atom was fixed he refused to accept Tenma as his father and used Tenma's own robot to rescue his family. The next chapter is Atom's rebellion: robbing the teacher's house, destroying property... until the robot family got angry, he stopped and left.
you should have threw in a bit about Atom: The Beginning, the astro boy prequel that takes place before his creation.
Honestly, that would align more with the Astro boy 1980. But then again I wouldn't take out that tenma wanting his son to be the strongest just because that is cool.
Atom is an awesome story
Well, there's a certain plot point that's revealed that kinda makes A:TB impossible to be a pure prequel to any preexisting version of Astroboy, but it is a fine manga. Just wish they didn't blow their load with getting an anime so early on in the story's life.
Thank you for using my art in the thumbnail !!❤ So happy to see people are still making Astro Boy content 💪
I wrote an alternate world where Astro has been used as a killer by the Japanese govt that didn't lose in World War 2. Over time some 30 years he is finally released of the programming for "Hammer Hand" so he can be free by his 2 dads. Then Gigantor is sent to bring him back even if it only his all important head. My character Night-Gaunt aids him.
Pluto is the closing thing we have gotten to an Astro Boy Reboot. I really miss Astro Boy as I grew up watching the cartoon. Making cartoons is so expensive and I am glad they made Pluto, but a series focusing on Astro would be nice.
Megaman isn't Astroboy it is another character.
@@randallbesch2424you're lost and also wow you're a real GENIUS 👍
I don’t remember much on the 2003 show, but I remember watching it everyday after school and adoring it. I never really got into astroboy after the series ended. I guess the lack of media after the 2009 movie played a hand in that.
Astro Boy is like an strange anomaly where he randomly pops up only to disappear for who knows how long
Honestly the 2003 series of astro boy is the best anime ova series ever.
Fooly cooly exists tho
So does the Dirty Pair original version.
Here after watching the recent-ish Pluto series, without knowing anything about the story of the actual Astro Boy.
I love to spot aspects that have been incorporated, but also seeing aspects that have been left out.
The Pluto Anime has been criminally underrated. If you haven`t seen it, I can recommend it.
its honestly really strange to me that Astro (or whatever they called him) was in Pluto, it seemed like a separate story that Gesicht was the main driving force for anyway. but yes, its a very very good show, a must watch for anyone interested in robotic ethics crossed with cosmic horror XD
Yeah it's pretty niche
As an extra little thing, in the episode Atlas vs Astro, in the Japanese version, Tokogawa does not have a backup of his son's memory but chose to give his son's body to Tenma in the hope that he could bring him back to life.
So Tokogawa's son is a cyborg in the Japanese version?
@@richardkirkland6805
Yep
Only a true Astro boy fan would call “professor O,shay” dr elephant
I'm a true Astro Boy fan, and I will do no such thing.
I thought I was having a stroke. I got confused when he started calling him oshay
12:19 'they are not im protected by their plot armor right now "😂😂
I remember watching this when I was really young in the 80s
You need to mention that the series you're summarising is Astroy Boy the 2003 series - there's also the 1960s and 1980s series (animated shorts excluded) - I personally like the 1980s best!
Jesus, I had only watched the movie up until this point. I had no idea it was so different than the actual show and canon.
I remember watching most of this series as a kid in the late 2000s and early 2010s and absolutely loved it! It was even at one point aired on ABC3/ABC-ME in Australia back in 2013-2015! :)
I never really got into Astroboy but I do love Megaman and I found these timeline episode recaps very fun to watch in this video despite never seeing them, I’ve tried that GBA Astroboy game and it’s really good and worth checking out!
you always make my day better!
Can you do Code Lyoko next?
Yeah I gotta watch this now. I was on the fence for decades, but this story would've been at home here or Megaman. I see why, now. ALways wanted a good MegaManX series with Mavericks and all that jazz, but I guess this is the closest we'll get.
The movie was my entire childhood
You've been deprived......I grew up watching the Astro in the 80's.
Same
@premier1975 ive seen the old shows too
@@MATT_THE_PROTOGEN_1987 the series that released in 2005 was better structured though. The series in the 80s just stopped.
@@premier1975 I also watched the movie, but my dad and I watched the 80's anime together. Good times.
So I gather this was just hi-lights of the important story arc, because there are so many episodes I remember that weren’t here. And I must confess, most of these I don’t.
The megaman vibes
Astro Boy Actually Inspired Megaman
34:16 I really thought this was Little Kuriboh from YGOTAS.
I like The show pluto so i wanted to learn about the og shows i was so happy when i saw jar toon do a recap
Ep.3 got that Gordan Freeman lol
i absolutely adore this animes art style and top notch animation
"🤔 There's like a new anime on Netflix... that reminds me of this. 😵💫" (-James)
I love Tezuka's character design style.
Im so glad i bought the whole collection from FYE i have like 5 dvd discs 😅😅😅
Can u do digimion?
0:16 is that mustashe man
😂😂😂😂
It's been 179 years and bro still didn't give us that alien force video
Tried to get into the series once years after watching the movie but couldnt find where to enter and sort of gave up. I am just going to be honest I am a fan of the 2009 movie and let me be double honest. I think it is better at portraying a boy who got cloned into a robot. This movie was my childhood obsession. I played the DVD on my laptop so much that I wore out the disc and made it unusable. Wich was devestating for me but my parents were happy as they didnt have to watch the movie every day and night. I mean it literally I had that thing on loop every day even during meals. It took me a long while after I destroyed the disc that I realised there was pirated versions of the movie on the internet. I didnt care about piracy so I just watched the movie from those sites a few times too tho honestly I was pretty burnt out too. I havent watched the movie in over a decade and still remember all the scenes all the lines and all the sound effects thats how much I watched it back then. There was talks about a new astroboy series a few years back but I got no idea what happened to it.
5:26 Deimos isn't a planet, it's a moon of Mars. Haven't you played the documentary game "Doom"?
Do the entire story of Rocket Power.
I watched the old series with my dad and recently I watched the “spinoff” of Pluto and omg that was an amazing series on Netflix
I remember playing the astro boy game on my Gameboy advance. Good times
Wtf this is animated way to well to be just some show
I played the gameboy game of this and it’s quite similar and watching Pluto (anime series on Netflix related to Astro Boy).
17:36 This Jetsons reference.
the clips you are showing which movie is that or what its called?
Some of the most tragic stories of about humanity ive read came from the book Astro boy
the way i clicked so fast seeing a CRUMB of Astro boy in my recommended, even if its just one of the many renditions
@JarToon I know it's not exactly a traditional cartoon, but can you do a recap about Gorillaz? I'm interested if their music videos tell an overarching story and like I thought it was cool that Ace from The Gangreen Gang played bass for them for a while.
Atlas was my favourite character 😂💙
Can you do one about batman
Do Voltron next 💯
can we get a Ben 10 recap
This might fit to Walt Disney Animation.
Man, "ROCK" found the Phoenix Force
Made a video about astroy boy but didn’t talk about the show Pluto?
Video is Caca
I don’t know why it’s this series is resurfacing but I can’t lie I don’t hate it. I’m a fan about this and I’m glad that others loves this show too, thanks for being this show to light :)
Do My Life as a teenage robot n next
39:12 did anyone else realize the robot here looks like the robotic copy of scout in tf2?
Nostalgic the Superhero Mech Anime Adventure😎.
What about the series "Pluto"? Does that count as part of the Astro Boy saga?
Why does this show look so old its from 2003??!
2003 is 21 years ago
Watched Mega Man TMNT Also Astro Boy 2003 10-10 Amazing
Damn astro boy was ahead of its time
I watch the Japanese dub of this anime because there’s a lot of mistranslation that makes the story a lil bit confusing for me
the japanese version of this show is much better. english dub isnt just bad (with the exception of tenma who actually has a fantastic VA) but messes up the more complex stuff from the japanese version. highly suggest watching a video here on youtube that shows the difference in dialogue during the climax scene in particular.
I just realized after this that the film did a huge discredit to Tenma.
Most of my exposure to Astroboy has come from the GBA game I was never able to beat.(Maybe I should use a walkthrough?)
"of course it's are boy, Astro boy" FACTS!
This feels like right before reploids was made
Imagine if Astro became Enemies/Allies with Megamind?
It feels like the Japanese people. Forget About him Even if he changes the world of anime. He didn't even get a lot of credit. Like the Japanese people did not care Even if someone wanted to plan To bring him back, The Japanese would not be that excited anymore, but they used to be once.
I used to have a toy (i dont remember what type it was, i think it was a plush) and i slowly got scared of it as I grew cuz it looked creepy to me
So tenma is astro boy version of Dr Willy?
Megaman and astroboy gives me the same vibes..
Damn that’s crazy to do
Just realised that one of astro friends looks like the a character from the kids next door
Dude, Atlas sounds like Kevin 11 from Ben 10 Alien force (or Ben 10 Ultimate alien)
Next. The entire story of Megas XLR.
Amphibia next
Rockos modern life pls
I see this really IS a condensed retelling. I don't want that, since I would rather watch the show myself. WHICH version is it again?
2003
@@KOTEBANAROT Thank you.

Either way, its cool to hear people talking abt astroboy in 2024
I'm pretty sure the firebird is the Phoenix from Tezuka's other manga Hi no Tori
then where is the alien girl from?
@@wingedflyingforce5139Also the character in Phoenix / Hinotori, she appears in the episode of 11 remake anime
I think in the dub version of Astro Boy western audiences calls him Astro but in Japan they called him Atom in sub.
Atom Strong Arm
FUCK YAA ASTRO BOY '03, I LOVE YOU
Why does Magaman's story and lore sound strangly similar to Astroboy's?
I feel as if you should’ve specified about what version of Astro boy because without including the Pluto series you’re not doing the entire thing justice because they’re a characters that aren’t bills upon from the original anime not trying to be a dickhead I really enjoyed Pluto with somebody who grew up, loving Astro boy it was such a great modern take on a very childish story that has these points throughout both the fucking show And the books and Pluto a very different take about it. You gotta specify. I feel like on certain additions of the thing not that I didn’t enjoy the hell out of the history because if anyone was gonna do it justice you were gonna ❤
The movie change.. wait-
Where's space camp episode
His name is Ochanomizu/Elefun not O'shay 😅
It looks like mega man
Omg 😭😭 i knew the show pluto was referring to astro boy but they basically copied and pasted him into the showe plus his life
Blackjack was also great
Megaman!
METRAHCITY!
Atlas sounds familiar
I've only seen the 80's version, and im taking a guess here but astro boy in this version doesn't have the machine guns shooting out his butt cheeks. 😂
