I have spent 26 years trying to walk out of the legalism of my youth. I still struggle when I want to spend time with God. All of the rules I’ve been taught about how I must pray, study Scripture, etc. press in on me and I have a hard time simply enjoying God. I want to be totally free.
i feel this statement so much. i have no grid for relationship with jesus and the grid i was given was all law no love. such a struggle, and when i’m taking a risk and trying something new i’m filled with fear thinking im messing it all up.
I'm 62 and was in a staunch, legalistic Pentecostal church until about 7-8 years ago. The struggle is real! It takes a lot to un-learn the old and renew your mind. I suggest you constantly play preaching like Graham's and also Andrew Womack. He's got a book called, "Who told you you were naked?" but the content of that book is in his free RUclips videos. The truth will make you free, not another prayer...

I too had this battle. I had to remove myself from the system that taught the lie that is Grace and law. Or Jesus but law! Or the law stands beside the new covenant. It was the most painful journey. Not the freedom but finally stepping away from all I had ever know. You are free. Believe it. But God maybe asking you to step away from the system that lies. Im so thrilled that this message is shared with evangelicals. Too many dont know the new covenant and are too easily proselytized by large denominations into a false gospel
Me too. I found a book called, This year of Hy Love. It saturates you in the love of God daily. Maybe you could look for the book.

THANKS. Coming out of legal Pentecost church has taken a lot of 'un' learning. A real struggle to renew the mind and keep it renewed. Praise God for this message. Hebrews changed my life! Christians not understanding the new covenant are increasingly being "sucked into the vacuum " of denominations claiming to follow Jesus but tack on so many rules that without realizing it freedom is slowly being removed and replaced with a false gospel (yet in the name of Jesus) Jesus is our substitute not simply our example. I am free for the first time. I am eternally grateful for Gods patience with me. I am blessed have amazing Godly friends brave in Jesus and blessed to discover teachers and leaders committed to unfolding the promise and kingdom living. Thank you.

Praise God for this message. I've been walking with Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit since 1997 and still struggle with the works mentality. I can show grace to others and not put works on them but somehow I still try to make me do the works to gain God's favor and love. This gives me another tool to help remind me, I'm free! I cringe when Christians say God's in control. I've always disliked that saying. I've told people, that means you're blaming God for all the evil done. Bless you Graham. I sometime stuck myself so much that i get overwhelm with all of my rules and dont know what to do anymore
I don't want to commit sin i really don't want to. The things is that i know that God loves me and i don't want to hurt Him by sinning willingly
With what i learn here i now understand some part of the Bible that i was wandering why where'nt they align with my rules and trying to get them to work together were tiring me so much!
I see that part where the Bible says that His load is not heavy and that his burden is light it became heavy when i put the old rules in it must stay diciplined to read the Bible the more you learn the knowlegde of the Bible the more you get Christ like all that with the presence of God beside you how marvelous it is to learn directly from God!!!

Excellent!!! Please, anyone, agree with me in prayer that my son "J" will receive this message into his heart. He is a Christian but has been tormented for over 20 years with a mental illness that keeps him in terror and fear that God will not receive him, that he has done something so unforgivable that God will reject him forever. The enemy has stolen my son's peace and freedom, I have prayed every way I know how for so long, but ultimately it is up to J to take back his freedom. In Jesus name, hallelujah!!! He is good and worthy to be praised!!!
I’m in agreement with you. You will see the goodness of God touch your sons life and he will know the love of his Heavenly Father and total freedom from mental illness. A great documentary to watch is. “Show me the Father” God bless you and him 🙏

Great sermon! Note: It’s also a form of legal religion within the framework grace to believe that people could be saved by works in the Old Covenant. True believers looked forward in faith to the messiah through the lamb, in the same way we look backward in faith to the Christ, who is Jesus.

The way these evangelicals can convince themselves that everything they do in life is endorsed personally by God is just wild.
Your focusing on the flesh and making it about you. Thats what the law did. Your goodness means squat. His goodness translates us into his kingdom through his loving kindness.
Its the preachers who have not entered in that have kept us out. Still waiting to die and see if they will be allowed in heaven. The truth is, God made a way for us to die now at the cross. We can enter in now. Because of the God that calls things that are not as though they are we are already seated in heavenly places with him having crucified the flesh (the old man).

I came out of wonderful situations that turned into control this was years ago up in South bend Indiana I was a music leader and we're being led by the spirit and then one day someone said they had a dream that they should have a director it's nothing wrong with the director and having some organization I started to quench the spirit let me have people give prophecy they would stand next to to someone sitting in a chair and tell them what their privacy was and then I probably would get okay they're not okay of course sometimes there would be things that would be where God was or they thought God was and I could tell to the god did give us a free will that free will was about following him and waiting on the leadership of a spirit and then we decided that we go where he wants us to go we do what he wants us to do sometimes it's just like Abraham he knew he's supposed to leave and go somewhere he didn't know where he was going but as he started step it out in faith the map started to develop before him thank you Graham you've been a blessing I've listened to you a number of years now the only problem where we're at here in Indiana there's real lack of places close by over 70 years old now I'm still believing that God's not done and he's told me that praise you Jesus thank you Papa and holy spirit

For all the people still bound up by religion who want to post something about Gods commandments and the old testament (2 cor 3:6 the dead letter).
I am going to give you a few things to ponder and I have to say we have all been there so dont condemn yourself for not seeing it either.
What happened in the garden of Eden was reversed at the cross. From Adam (who lost his identity and walked by the flesh but in no way was he rejected) death reigned until Christ came. The promise fulfilled to him and Abraham. The son given who took our place, took our punishment and gave us a new identity. The identity we were to have before the foundation of the world. His beloved children.
Now if you call yourself a christian and go around pointing out people's faults. knock it off that is not the gospel.
It’s foolish then, for us to believe that salvation is a gift, but sanctification can be earned by our performance. Not Biblical. This is religious nonsense!
Here’s the thing about legalism: it always appeals to the flesh, calling up what you are not because it wants control over you. God wants to look you in the eye and says I am ultimately in charge of your life, but I do not want to control you. I want us to walk this life together. I want you to be free.

Jesus came to FULFILL the first covenant not replace, in fullfillment work of Christ( Romans 8:4) the old lack of understanding caused by a fallen human mindset gets transformed by who Christ is, what He did, and what He said. Legalism falls away when we learn our value through unconditional love relationship and not through 'earning our place'. The law's beauty and God's original and perfect intent through the law was always mis understood and missused (Which He knew would happen) due to our sinful nature and by sinfull nature I mean the Me and my own evaluation of good and bad and negating the authority and value of God. Our self centered fallen nature puts me before God and others. Negating their value and honor. The law was set to restore empathy and honor.But this sinful nature which was our lense in understanding God and who he is was clearly distorted and therefore the law made sin increase, which is what is meant by Romans 5:20. But let's stop bashing the law because there is so much honor in beauty that can be admired through the lense of a new creation in Christ. And yes, Christ fullfilled the requirement, His greatest commandments sum up the old law, translated it and thru his sacrifice, Him negating his own self value by laying down his life for us, paying the debt of our taking our own life away from God in sin, we can in faith become transformed to be like him and embrace the freedom of relationship based life abundance and be one with them as they are one (John 17). . I love you Graham and God is using you in mighty ways. But bashing the law that God gave, bashes God who is the same yesterday today and forever. The law has been fulfilled and surpassed in Christ, let us not create yet another 'Christian' lynching mob against people yoked in legalism, they are people who love God, they desire to honor him with their life they just haven't fully understood grace yet. Instead, let us encourage them to understand how we are all dependent on Christ not on our own works and not call them diabolical which is not our seat of judgment. Remember Jesus did say through various parables and conversations with his disciples that we by our works are declare what we truly believe in our hearts. Abstaining from sinful behavior and selfishness is not a work of law but an expression of a love and honor filled relationship of that we have in Christ towards, man and The Father. I hope you don't mind I write this but I do for your blessing and benefit in love of our beautiful Jesus and the faith in him of which we share. Blessings
But there is a difference between sonship and fellowship. Show me a promise of God (apart from salvation) that is not conditional. Eg. IF you continue in my word then are you my disciples indeed
All things work together for good to them that love God … I love your ministry Graham but this is a genuine question. The bible gives conditions for rewards 🤔

He that spared not His only Son but delivered him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also FREELY give us all things. R8. v important use KJV otherwise 'one' misses so much, God quickens His Word, not per-versions
I like to paraphrase this, "He gave us Jesus, the rest goes without saying" or if you prefer, When you received Jesus you automatically got credited with the rest; working it out ? ah, now there's the crunch ! !
He who knew no sin became sin for us. God was in Jesus reconciling the world to himself.
he took care of the problem man thought we had and that being God was far off somewhere, mad at us.
In jesus we are reconciled because he fulfilled the law that was given for the flesh. Our flesh died with him at the cross (the old nman of sin and death). The new creation that lives in his spirit of Loving kindness. Through the desert we find him telling the children to fear not he was with them. The lord thy God in the midst of thee.
Well now because of the cross God is no longer without he is within us. Having been made clean by his work on the cross, not our works.
Our work now is the renewing of the mind which is not easy.
What about the Fathers commandments? Are we not to live our lives by them? What sets us apart from the world? Keeping Christmas and Easter? None of those are ever mentioned in the Bible. Passover is mentioned the first fruits , feast of tabernacles feast of trumpets, the seventh day sabbath IS mentioned throughout the Bible… these are Gods Holy set apart days not Jewish holidays!Hebrews 8 this “ new” (in the Hebrew is renewed) covenant that I will make with Israel and the house of Judah says YHWH a I will put My laws in their minds, I will write them on their hearts, I will be their God and they will be My people”! Read Jeremiah 31:31 … “ I am the Way, the truth and the life no one comes to the Father , but through Me”! John 14;6 ❤️
the law is a type and shadow, the law within itself is perfect and without blemish. it can only show you the impossibility of keeping it. if you could truly follow and live under the law to the T without mistake, how would you ever recognize the need for a savior? if the law could save you, jesus is obsolete. yes the law is good, and if you need me to give you some scripture to back it up here ya are :) - “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”

all law that was required to be loved by and followed was ALL fulfilled by Jesus for us and as us. Jesus is the perfect human response to the father and lives in EVERYONE, both believers and non believers, only differences is believers… believe it.
@@michaelcerafan1 - I never said by keeping the law you are saved, we all broke Gods law and we need a savior who is Yeshua / Jesus the Christ He is the only way to be saved, but after you are saved and realize why you need a savior we have to try to keep His ways thats why Yeshua says to repent , repent from what 1 John 3:4 sin is transgression of the law. So, we are to turn away from breaking the law to keeping the law to our best abilities, and when we sin and we all do we have a mediator who is Jesus the Christ. We don’t accept His salvation His sacrifice to keep living the way we were we must repent and turn back to the Fathers Ways.🙏🏽

The church doesn’t really understand that they are grafted into Israel, not the other way around.
