Great video and a great judoka. The uchi mata or kouchi gari "quiz" in the beginning was a fun touch

I love the breakdown videos! Thank you for making so many videos. I learnt many things from the videos because it's so well explained and there are many different cases where you show how it works. My judo is improving so fast thanks to this channel

Great video! Wolf is incredible, love that classic uchimata, makes it look like uchi komi against top level competitors...

I really love his ashi waza, I think maybe we'll him once or two more times before he is done. Good thing there is Dota to fill his place. Thank you Wolf for all the amazing judo

He did that weird kata guruma as a response to right lapel post in kenka yotsu. Since his arms were usually shorter his opponents could keep him away that way like Frey did at 5:02, so he developed kata guruma to disincentivize them. Great judoka, unfortunately screwed by rule changes.

really powerful uchimata, not very traditional, but when he gets his openings the hand forcing their head to the ground looks unstoppable

    Thanks. I learned a lot.
I knew he was a beast, but the footages are great to analyse.
Sadly, I get owned a lot by those same lefty-uchimata judokas ( I live in Japan, training in a university )... to the point it gets a little bit boring. I mean, they're almost like one trick poneys.
What's infuriating though is to keep getting owned, although you know what's coming. Sad, sad, sad.
Me, as a guy who cannot use uchimata, have a tough relation with this technique. Some days I find it beautiful, and some days I'm sick of it.
Have a nice training everyone !

defending uchimata is all about posture and defending with your hips. You can stop those one trick ponnies!

@@JudoHighlights2015 Thank you for your kind supporting words !
You are very right. Since last year, I've figured some ways to block their throws, indeed. Then I was left with another problem : if all I do is block, they cannot throw me, but I cannot throw them either.
Then I planed some attacks ... and got blasted again.
I guess it shows how hard it is to make progress when somebody has a lot more experience than you. I'm trying to up my game little by little, but man, it takes time !

I kinda like the idea of that unique signature grip. I wouldn't like trying it, but thinking how you get close, potentially a bit angled against taller guys. It has to be annoying, hasn't it? Like trying to throw a leftie with that kind of grip. Seems like an anti-power grip taller guys like to do.
