Billy Cox still got it!!! One of my favorite bassist of all time.💯🔥✊
Really? I thought for a minute there that was Redd Foxx on the bass guitar. 😀
oh yes
Me Billy several years ago in Chicago
I had called him, spoke to his wife who told me of the show in Chicago with Jimi's music. Lol I got tickets from a fan with one too many. Caught the entire show and after, meet Billy and his wife, she said, Ya made it Tommy.
Yes I did.
I soooooooooooooo dig this video posting as this LP IS one of my ALL time favorite.
Thank you Billy and please thank your awesome wife for me. ❤
Rest in peace man
Randy Hansen does a fantastic job. Vocal are closest to Jimi I’ve ever heard. Drifting. 1983. I’ve seen him many times. He is my favorite at Jimi. This is cool. But I’ve seen Randy many times. Best show was Tower theater Philly area. Seeing him do 1983 is something I’ll never forget.
really good but the lead wasnt loud enough.
What more do you want ??!!!
It's Billy Cox
forGod's'Sake!!!
And his incredibly gifted musical friends
It's been almost 2 years since my brother Dani passed and it is still difficult to accept, but seeing all the wonderful comments you guys wrote brought a smile to my face. Thanks everyone!
DANI IS THE TWIN SOUL OF HENDR🎸X….
Seems a great shame I never got to see your brother. Inspired by or channeling Hendrix while being his own man - not an impersonator ✌️
Sorry for the loss of your brother. Deepest condolences.
Brotha Duane ❤
So very sorry to hear about his passing-my condolences...Very knocked out by his fantastic playing, he was quite talented and sounded so good with Billy and the Richie. He really had the Jimi vibe down, yet as someone else mentioned he added his own thing which really was impressive. Best version of "Power of Love" I've heard.
The guitar player is exceptional. Good to see Billy still with us, God bless. Drummer has that pocket down!
He's okay but not exceptional. Randy Hansen is the one that's exceptional, the premiere Hendrix tribute artist; all others are second and third rate poseurs.
@@electrix6751 you got that right
@@electrix6751 bruv, you need to watch Eric Gales play
@@gizmoo5850 Eric is real nice
Oh great now we’re gonna have little teenage arguments about what impersonater is better
I was at first skeptical, but they did great! Fire the soundman.
The room was not at all set up for a rock set. About half or more of the audience got up and went outside....there was only a small handful of lucky witnesses stayed inside for this.
Please
You right the sound makes a big difference. It throw the drums off it's up front. I don't here the bass. And that's famous player Billy Cox.That bass should be up front as much the guitar player. The guitar player isn't that bad. He played Power of Love. That's impressive.
Whoever set the levels for the guitar and lead microphone sucks.
Yeah the guitar could have been louder... maybe a little more mid range...not too much though... it's good to see talented people making an effort to keep the dream alive.... always, to survive...
Dude is doing a great job keeping the spirit of jimi playing as close as possible to the Original..it's hard to sound exactly like jimi..because jimi improvised so much. All feeling
The best solo he ever played was
The one on MACHINE GUN..🔥🔥
HE WAS POSSESSED ON THAT ONE..
I closed my eyes and was transformed back to the days of wearing out the grooves on the LP.!
NICE JOB!
It's been almost 2 years since my brother Dani passed and it is still difficult to accept, but seeing all the wonderful comments you guys wrote brought a smile to my face. Thanks everyone!
Your brother could play his azz off. I really enjoy every video of him playing. RIP Dani…🎸
I've learned to play this song more once, always looking for the player who can give me the closest references to what Jimi was doing. This is it. Dani Robinson is the man.
He just died
@@ZARCOOTER what.billy cox is dead
chris edwards Billy Cox was alive and assuming well as of this past Sunday which was Father’s Day!!!
BARRY ZARCULiA just googled it and Dani Robinson (Jimi Hendrix look-a-like playing and singing in this video) just died. He passed on May 19th I believe. R.I.P.
Great 👍
What made Jimi stand apart is that he played the song differently every time.
This What sets him apart from others.
Wow great job, dude on guitar is killing it. billy still getting down. Very cool
The first album I ever heard Hendrix on was My mother's Band Of Gypsies on a Fisher price record player. Still one of my favorite Hendrix albums! Mom had tatse LOL!!
I'm trying, not getting the feeling.
Yeah it's hard to recreate that iconic new yrs eve nite..
IT WAS SPIRITUAL
Billy Cox is cooler than a center seed of a cucumber. Rock On !!
I bought my 1st bass guitar from Billy Cox..Billy had a pawn shop on Nolensville Rd in Nashville after band of Gypsys & had it a few years..I walked in there 4 or 5 times looking at guitars & I had enough for a bass guitar..$45 bucks for a Thunderball 007..He took advantage of a 14 year old..LOL..The stings were honestly an inch or more off the neck, plus I'm left hands..I took it back with $25 more bucks & he traded me a Epiphone E B O & I ask him if that was him in the picture with Jimi Hendrix ( after six months of going in there) & he said yes & told me a story about how they met in the service..What an honor & a couple of great memories...I'm 65 now & still play bass ..Thank You Billy Cox..A true gentleman & a legend.🍄
What can I say. Just love it. Billys one of the greatest bass players ever. I think he and Jimi invenred Funk! Bless you last Gypsy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow! Great to see Billy still playing & his guitar 🎸 player is the the Re-incarnation of Jimi along with all the Gimmicks ! ❤️it . Excellent playing !
BILLY COX IM glad that U are still honoring JIMI,S music 🎶 😊 after all yall were in the army 2 gether and IM glad U didn't put up music 🎶 😊 your music 🎶 😊hat 🧢 and stop playing music 🎶 🎉 all 2 gether and JIMI wouldn't want that either JIMI is pushing the flowers 💐 😊 a side man yes JIMI is still playing his guitar 🎸 😊 and still dancing 🎶 😊 just like he should peace ✌ happiness 😊 and joy 😊 JIMI keep on playing your music 🎶 ❤ I won't ever 4 get U 😊😅🎉😂❤😊/😊😊🎉🎉❤🎉 TLC/OMG 7 3O 2O23
I would like to see Billy hook up with Eric Gale.....they sound good
The coolest bass player in the univers ✌️🎼
You alway some whinger saying " yeah but X ,Y, or Z is better, " just shuddup and enjoy the guy that's in front of you ,
Billy Cox, solid as a rock, a drummers dream!
HENDRIX is STILL #1
the sound quality is the same as in those '60s records. What the hell guys?
No one will ever be able to recreate the sound of James Marshall Hendrix love you Billy Cox i know the feeling it's just not the same without Jimi being on that stage
RIP Dani Robinson
Alright now. play it Band of Gypsies...
Drummer n Billy killing it too! Sound guy blows doe🤦🏾♂️
stop the press! Hendrix lives on in this awesome band with this guitarist. Watch as he recon structs :-) the amazing work of jimi hendrix. excellent grooves stay kicking ass.
Dear great Detroit guitarist Dani Robinson - R.I.P.
Missing my brother dearly.
@@lawrencerobinson8088 chin up...and wishing you the best, did ya recieve your cd yet? comes from Rome-Italy, so it takes many weeks..but you will get it. and I hope you enjoy it. sorry for your sorrow.
Wow. This is the first video I’ve ever seen or heard of Duane, and to see that he has passed away in his early 70’s - so sad and young.
@@lawrencerobinson8088 Watching tons of Dani videos today...LanceQ....Breaking my heart all over again.
Good to see Billy.. Group was about as good as I've heard.
Great guitar player 🤘🏾👌🏾👏🏾👏🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾💯💣💪🏾
First I've seen Dani Robinson. JUST BEAUTIFUL. Richie Monica: A pleasure to see a hard hitter.
Rest in peace Dani Robinson. Great memories of the Band of Gypsy's and Jimi Hendrix.
Very good
Billy Cox is Legendary !! The drummer and the guitar player (RIP as read the comments) are exceptional as well. Great job gentlemen !!
play Jimi Hendrix.. Not easy..
I enjoyed this! very nice!!!
Whaww that was awsome sounds Awsome yeah with Billy cox 👏👏💯✌🏽👊🏽✌🏼🔥🔥
God, it's too spooky - squint your eyes and you can imagine it's him. Man, breaks my heart. My kingdom for a time machine to go back to that night and get him some help.
Meet Billy great person
great effort. my hat is off. well done!
Great to see Billy Cox on the bass. Love the guitarist and drummer too. Great job recreating this song.
wtf did i just hear????!!!! woahhhh!!!! now thats a game changer!! id pay serious $ to see that live!!!(would love to meet billy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Needs Buddy Miles’ pocket and vocals.
Yeah, that drummer ain't getting it. Stiff as a rock.
🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🕉♌☮ 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿
Somebody know channels were i can find bass lines bass covers ) ? with Billy cox how to play. Songs like this Who knows 😅
RIP, Dani Robison, on guitar... Stole the show on Experience Hendrix Tour #Detroit Mr. Billy Cox is definitely Kool. He's enjoyable to talk with too.
Whoa!!! He died???
Just now discovered Dani. Awesome! (Shame about the mix!)
Who knows
Power to soul
Ahora mismo están rockeando con Jimi.
A great tribute band to a great man - I dig it, man.
Dani was fantastic and he brought J.H. to guys like me who were just too young when he was alive in the 60;s. And now sadly Dani has passed as well....grateful and glad to have seen the Experience Hendrix tour in 2014.
RIP Dani Robinson! Just read he passed away in May.
Of all the guitarists I have heard/seen play Hendrix, NO ONE channeled the spirit and essence of Jimi like Dani Robinson did.
RIP my dearest friend.
Stratocat222, This is Dani's brother Lawrence. I agree. Since we were kids, Dani was tuned in tight to Jimi. Playin' with Billy Cox was a dream for him. Miss my brother!
Listen to Randy Hansen. He's as close as any one will _ever_ get to imitating Hendrix realistically.
Nobody gets anywhere close to Jimi....end of.
@@electrix6751 Wild T is the closest to Hendrix Listen to his Midnight Blues and freedom Train.
I know this video is a few years old but Billy Cox still plays amazingly , also a longtime friend Mr Byron Bordeaux had the pleasure and opportunity to meet and play with Billy Cox for a while and that's a memory to cherish for a lifetime
Thats a helluva a shadow looking over your shoulder while performing this....😳
Fantastic!
What I like is he channels Jimi but not to the point of imitation. He has the same off-handed loose approach and although it's Billy's band, as bass player he still has to follow the guitar.
Billy Cox Baby!!!!
As a tribute to Jimi, it don’t get no better than this! If you never saw Hendrix live (I did), Dani is the next best thing. No, he didn’t write the songs and it’s not 1967, but it’s as close as you’re gonna get. When I saw Hendrix in Houston, it was right after he caught his ‘fro on fire at Monterey Pop and his hair was short like that. Brings me back 😊
This guitar player is alright, Billy is so good and groovy!
That guitar player is gone now.
@@ryanelison4539 my best friend he was....may he rest in peace!
I think Billy is showing some great love for Jimi by who he has playing with him. First time I could listen to Jimi's songs being done by others and not cringe at the effort. "they don't know like you know, Billy..." so cool..
When jimi left nobody takeover and don’t even try sorry bill😰😰
Honestly?! .. after Jimi death we all were left with only one truthful JH incarnation.. and that's called Randy Hansen.. "all the rest aren't more than simple good will on attempting'' ...
Great thanks for this! Imagine Jimi would have every peddle invented in these days Billy looks well. Like Jimi too!
Wild T And The Spirit listen to Wild T Freedom Train and Midnight Blues. David Bowie went nuts when he heard him and hunted him down.
I don't get it - why would there be a reason to be skeptical about a Billy Cox, Hendrix cover band ?
Actually sounds good...
Billy Cox, the man!! He also played with Charlie Daniels
He looks like Hendrix
Even, maybe with like a Doc Brown mask
Love his tone not a fan of the music but at least unlike a lot of Jim's guitars he's in tune....
Thank God for Billy, Amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The heaviest sleng teng, the one & only Billy Cox ladies and gentlemen!
Funny every time I hear people try to play this in a bar they screw up the timing.
Can't hear Billy ! 👺
Ha Hah! Billy you MAD Man. You made me turn Loudness off. I haven't had to do that in yonks! Learned to play Drums with you in my Garage from '83. Got double live and Baggy's ... I love you.
Billy metal funk legend, only member of Band Of Gypsies left living
I meet Daniel Here in Brazil, such a good bro
Billy Cox is the 💩! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Fat funky grooves
Bily Cox on Bass, WOW From Dab
Great To 👀 Billy still rockin hard! 👊 👊
Did a fantastic job for real
The last Gypsy still getting it
He's hitting that song just like jimi! 👍
Nice , thank you !
It sucks Dani is gone RIP
He’s playing a left handed strat upside down. A real tribute to Hendrix.
Oh yeah !!!!
Pretty cool
Really enjoyed this. RIP 🙏🎶 Dani.
Close but not yet JIMMI
who mess up the sound.
Oh helllllll Yeah !!!!!
not bad. not bad at all.
At 0:27, Billy Cox said to the drummer, "Do you know... you count half bar more?". The drummer said, "Who knows?" and keep the wrong count through the half song...sosad. The is a world issue to find good drummers to play Hendrix.
Richie Monica is a fantastic drummer who plays with the best of them.
yep
Taipo Bryan your right
Whoa! Awesome 😎
We all TRY to channel Jimi , but the tone is never quite right , and his endless improving that makes him , him.
