IMPORTANT WORD ON DITCHING: Hey guys, I went through basically a ditching and it was much different then i could have ever imagined!. Worst part was despite using both legs I could not get a cabin hatch open until the aircraft had sunk about 15 ft under water and the the fuselage had completely filled with water (that is right up to the tailcone in a nose down attitude) due to water pressure. That took a few mins and I went for over a min without air and actually started inhaling water in an attempt to get it over with but was still conscious when the pressure finally equalized and the hatch simply drifted open. After my ditching I had a seaplane flight instructor who once flipped in a Cessna 185 on floats that despite having the door unlatched on landing (before the flip) he and a second pilot-passeger could not open the doors until the fuselage had completely filled as well. They ended up for a few mins under the instrument panel gulping air from an air pocket and they could only open the doors when that pocket of air was gone! In hindsight and as a precaution I did two things when flying seaplanes and extended over water: 1: I kept a small scuba bailout bailout bottle strapped to my body to provide a few mins of survival until I could get a door operand help passengers. 2: Inflatable PFD worn at all times. NO NOT WARE A NON-INFLATABLE PFD and DO NOT INFLATE A PFD UNTIL YOU ARE OUTSIDE THE AIRCRAFT, If you do it will restrict your egress and likely pin you in a position where you will drown. 3. On a Cessna I would disconnect the side-window stops, and before ditching open the windows and doors so the latches and wikdows are less likely to jam. As a matter of standard procedure for Cessna floatplane water landings and takeoffs we always left the doors unlatched left the side windows open. The side-windows are just large enough to escape through but small enough that you may be able to force them open under pressure. The other big danger was disorientation of being inverted underwater and not being able to see more then a few inches. Remember the only thing worse then an off-airport landing is drowning after an off-airport landing.
I find the videos that include a project or a mission of some sort way more interesting than the regular traveling vlogs. So excited about your trip Louis!
Just awesome journey you've started! Such a big inspiration for people like us, small creators / filmmakers.. Thanks alot for what you share with us! Now it's time for me to go shoot a video!
In Europe we have to carry PLB's and they transmit an emergency signal on the 406 MHz distress frequency which is monitored by the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system. So if you are in the middle of the Pacific, miles from any land stations the signal will be picked up by a satellite and sent to the nearest rescue coordination centre. So when Louis asked if it was a satellite signal i was surprised when JP said no?
why would you ever expect one Sandcastle-none of your business? I for one think this guy is leading a tremendous life...he keeps building momentum. he s doing a round the world flight!! SUPER! btw-I hope u come to Tokyo-I d love to host your team-
I would say he propably gets paid more than other channels with his size because these travelvlogs are very easy to monetize. His videos are harmless, familyfriendly and exactly what youtube wants.
Louie we know your busy but even a few longer vlogs would be awesome, because at the end of the day your message is just how many people would love to live your adventure epic, awesome journey and so much good luck on your flight round the world!!!
+FunForLouis *You were correct Louis the emergency beacon DOES transmit a signal to satellites with your identity and GPS coordinates. Relying on communication with ground based receivers in the middle of the ocean at sea level might prove challenging.* 5:14
COMMUNICATIONS RECOMMENDATION: I would recommend a small aircraft and marine VHF Transceiver, to talk to air rescue if they can get to you, and the marine to possibly hail a passing vessel.
Please stop by Murfreesboro where my 172 is based or 0A3 for cheap fuel. Would love to meet you there on your way to the East coast and fly east alongside you some.
Those locator beacons are called EPIRB and they do actually use satellites to send an encoded message to ground stations with your exact location so you can get rescued...
JP you are are going to teach Louis how to land the plane. And it would be wise for Louis to start reading/learning about what's going or one the girls.... Just in case ya get sick flying. JP might swing by "Sporty's" or "Aviation Spruce" and talk to those guys they might sponsor you guys. Swing by "Clif Bars" they might help you guys out.
I don't know much about the safety rules in flights, but i just wanted to make a suggestion of an inflatable boat, nust like the ones used as slides in big planes for emergency
You should so hook up with Adrenaline Addiction (RUclips Channel) and put him in the documentary, I could see you three being good friends and having some really good fun!
Go to: Australia India (Here is India. In the North, there is Mumbai, Delhi, the Taj Mahal, Ajanta Caves and Bhimbekta rock shelters. Plus the Himalayas and Jammu and Kashmir. Maldives Palau Cayman Islands Afghanistan(The Kabul zoo, Kabul museum, mountains and rivers Seychelles Sao Tome and Principe Micronesia Jamaica (including Reeves and jungle waterfalls) Liechtenstein Ireland New Zeland ( There are 2 islands, so plan wisely. Here is my list of places to view there. Hahei, Sky Tower, Beaches Tongariro National Park, Abel Tasman national park, Milford sound, Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Tongariro alpine crossing Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, and International Antarctic center) Nigeria (try Fufu, Egusi, ogbono soup, jollof rice and fried fish before visiting) Togo Tonga Fiji New Zealand Namibia Botswana Austria Switzerland Belize Trinidad and Tobago Jamaica Bahamas Morocco (Tangier) Niger Baja California, Mexico Isreal (check out the biblical zoo and waterfalls) Hawaii (Kona) Hong Kong (it has a Disneyland and a McDonalds with soy milk and mcwings) Singapore Mauritania (Oudane, shipwrecks and good looking food) Mauritius Nauru Cuba Djibouti (scuba diving) Comoros Guinea Bisseu Solomon Islands Montenegro (Including biogradksa gora)
seriously, you think they might fly into Afghanistan? :D :D best joke! I've spent a month there as a tourist, the country is lovely, but flying there in a private jet is a suicide
Oh, true. Australia has nice beaches, wildlife and plenty of diversity. British, Irish, Greek, Chinese and Indians. The aboriginal Australians may look black, but they speak with a little bit of a Shahrukh Khan accent. DNA shows that they were originally from India. That explains why they are super brown.
Hey man, I'm living in Dubai and I know so much different places here! I can show you around and my wife is a crew for Emirates and have a youtube channel kethy Kist! You can check a little bit more about us! Nice vlog as usual

yearly "£5.3K - £84.1K." lmao.. that is a nice range. I think he earns £0K - £100K a year.

What software do you use to edit your vlogs...Love your channel by the way, liked...subscribed
what actor does jp look like??!!
Come to Bermuda !!
This is the best channel ever!
Is it only me or does Louis appear clueless and flying by the seat of his pants on this adventure?
This JP character also comes across as really nervous , can't help feeling they are going to hit the news for all the wrong reasons.
mickbangkok Dude relax lol. They were on a trip a couple of years ago so they have an idea.
hippygram I don't reckon any of us would have any more knowledge than Louis. Anyways, Louis job is to film the document and he should focus on that.
Wouldnt that be normal if youve never done something of this magnitude? Its like people are expecting them to fail.
They arent clueless, just nervous! its a normal thing to be nervous about lol
what an adventure !!
I hope you will come to India
I think you should call the plane - Clive
on a wing and a prayer
Reason I like watching his vlogs is because he does things that I won't be able to do 🤷🏻♂️
