    Most intriguing to me is Reinbacher, everyone talks about Hutson & Mailloux or maybe Engström from that up coming D core after the first of those prospects games against basically the Toronto Marlies. But it's like every commentator is in awe of Hutson and forgets the importance to defend well with this team that allowed so many goals the past seasons.
    David showed in that camp he's the better Defender of them all.

    • @saverioL1998
      @saverioL1998 2 дня назад +12

      I agree theirs a reason he got picked 5th overall and it’s not because he’s flashy or really good offensively but because he’s a guy that can defend well and eats lot of minutes on the right D spot witch is hard to get in todays NHL. ( he’s a guy you could trust when were leading by 1 goal in the 3rd period with 2 min left and you know he’s gonna defend well against any teams top line players. And also on the penalty killl ) He’s a good breakout passer and still has offensive skills that still haven’t been shown much if you ask me he’d be a good pair with a guy like Hutson on our first line in the future !! In the playoffs people will realize how important he is. I see him as a Andrei Markov type of defender and us habs fans know how useful he was.

      I think a Reinbacher Hutson pairing is the future #1 pairing on this team. Reinbacher is the perfectly built D man, great size, offensive upside, great vision. Combine that with Hutson and all of a sudden you have a d pairing like Makar and Toews or Hughes and Hronek. That offensive but defensive 1, 2 punch.

    • @lauig
      @lauig День назад +1

      @@crazeinthedark Could be. I found it interesting Reinbacher got paired most of the time with Engström who is the other very mobile lefty with great capacity to create smart offensive plays in this lineup. We also saw a glimpse of that pairing when Mailloux got that 10 + 2 after stupidly over commiting to defending Hutson (while Thorpe was mature enough to let go after having been the first to come to the rescue). And it lead to a very interesting zone exit & a really good power play which was very well defended by those experienced Marlies.

    • @Ryan-gj7yr
      @Ryan-gj7yr День назад

      David is the better defender, but he still has many months of AHL before he’s even ready to make an appearance and probably 2 years before he’s ready to be a difference maker. Lane can make an impact now due to his offensive game, so he’s going to be relevant first, however in 2-3 years time they will probably be seen as similar value in terms of overall game impact, it will just take David longer to get there.

    Life long habs fan here. I’ve never been more excited for a season in my life. It seems like we finally have everyone in their chair and even if it does not work we always have plan B players. For example Roy instead of newhook or just at defense with how many d-man they have. Their place is not locked except for the top3. Which means we could we see plenty of d-man get a shot in the big league this year. Of course I expect it to be Guhle, Matheson, Savard, xhekaj and Barron especially since the last two have to go through waivers. There’s gonna be a rotation on the last d-pairing and it’ll be training camp that will determine who will be the 6-7th d-man to follow the team. I would not be surprised to see Hutson have a full season in the NHL but remember, struble, Mailloux, Engstrom AND Reinbacher will want a shot in the big league. I do think tho that Engstrom and Reinbacher are going to be in the AHL more often then the others since they’ve just arrived in North America with smaller rinks. Struble Mailloux and Hutson would be my guess has players that will play this year in the big league since they all played a couple games and are used to NA rinks and play style. Do not forget injuries too. The rocket will also be thrilling to watch this year with all those prospects.

      I honestly think they could push a wild card spot this year, it's mostly gonna hinge on that young d core, monty is solid enough to give the boys a chance to win but if the d leaves him exposed on 3 on 1s as oftain as they did last year it won't be good. Lots of youth, and these kids like to engage off the blue line.

    1- Laine will score around 35 goals and 60 points.
    2- The Habs will make the play-offs with 2 games remaining in the season.
    3- Now, that's where it gets interesting. Montembault will lose his starting job to Primeau. That move, after around 35 games, will ensure the play-off spot.

    I think we will see a bit of a step back from the top line, as it’s a known commodity now. Laine has to be the most intriguing because they’ve essentially added him AND Dach to the second line and that could be a scary good line if the chemistry happens. Also, having Anderson and Gallagher slide down the lineup may mean they face worse opposition and catch fire as well. Really three good lines here and the offense should be fun to watch. The defence will take some overlooking for a couple more years until these guys develop a little. But should be a strength in a couple years. I predict playoffs for this team!

    With healthy Laine, Hutson, Dach, Newhook, this team should really be demanding more respect. Could be significantly better this season. Adding Lane and Laine to powerplay is dangerous for a team that had around 30 1-goal games last season. Not saying they'll be President's trophy winners, but I think they are infinitely better this year than last, provided they stay healthy...

But I've had enough of the Boston rivalry, I'm ready for them to go back to nonexistent and then Montreal and Ottawa returning to competing for the top of the Atlantic again and restoking the fire of rivalry with Toronto. If Primeau was not a nepo baby, he'd be Fucale by now. Media shits on Laine in CBJ and he's been called lazy and a disaster but he's on a similar ppg pace as Suzuki was last year. Does that mean he's great or do we overhype Suzuki?
    Suzuki is basically Larkin. I'd say average as a 1C if we look at the position as they are usually classed around 15ish in top centre lists in the league. that means about half the league as a better 1C.
    The same articles that say Habs got best prospects had Detroit and LA on top around 5 years ago and after 5 years , they're a wild card team. Maybe 2-3 years away from being contenders consistently and that's a long time. So that sort of timeframe is actually no different than the Bergevin era when it comes to success. Once upon a time , Zadina was the "can't miss prospect who is NHL ready" like Demidov and some others are being hyped right now.
    If everything works out with our prospects starting this year, which is a rare thing, then we wont be getting high picks anymore and this will have to be it. Signing good UFA isn't something that happens often in the 514 due to taxes and media. I doubt these guys have what it takes to become contenders.
    Habs did say they would focus on PR way more towards the end of the bergy era. I think we're all being sold that PR narrative and all of these channels are shills. Workign with Habs PR to get a few scraps along the way. Habs make more money now in one season that they did for a whole dynasty. Business is going good. Saying stuff like " we wanna win" is nothing but PR lol.

    Monty and Primeau are both backup goalies, and even sharing the workload, we're still guaranteed to be giving up an average of about 3 goals a game, which just isn't good enough to be a playoff team. I don't know what Hughes needs to do to bring a proper starter to Montreal, but if there's any GM in the league that can do it, it's him. However, as usual, EVERYONE KNOWS that the LEafs will choke in the playoffs. Great regular season team - awful in the playoffs.
      Just like when the Habs eliminated the Leafs in 2021.
      Winning the Cup is what counts.

    If this team stays healthy, we will find out how intelligent MSL is. And the addition of Laine is a wlld-card. No other teams will be able to ignore him, and when they pay attention, that frees up other Habs we know can score.

    Kinda funny to think the Habs lost both prospect games despite being at the bottom of the league for the last few years (which are supposed to give you better picks) to the Leafs who've made the playoffs over the last few years Just saying.

      @marcbabineau6001 The amount of people not getting a joke is kinda funny. I know they had lots of Missing prospects, I'm a Leaf fan, and this was for my cousin (who's a Habs fan) and we tease each other about our teams, so I posted it here🤦🏼‍♂️

    Primeau and Montembeault will basically fight for the starter spot. My guess is that, initially, MT will have the 1A, but if he doesn't cut it, they will give Primeau more chances, and whoever wins, gets the starts, until they lose, and over and over.
