Just thinking about it makes me smile😄😄🥰🥰
I'd make a difference in the local community, even the world. I'd use half to 70 % of it to make a funds for people that live under the pov. line and want to make changes in their lives. I'd also want to create a nonprofite service/bank/insurance for those who don't have possibility to get loan for houses or buisness.
And ofc, I will pay of personal debt and buy the house I live in, and upgrade it. Make my dreamhome.
Help out friends in need, and travel the world. Visit Asia and Oseania, and South America. The places I haven't been to yet.🌟🌟✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

I don't know if I would claim it in my name! Probably get a financial advisor, Help family friends out maybe give some to charity and invest in a little! I would definitely go to Vegas and have fun! Definitely a Shopping spree for clothes! 🛍 I will not go bankrupt! I don't want to be on social security after winning the lotto!! If I start a business it will be invention's and art or invest in those! I definitely spend 💰 right and save!! 🙂

One night about a year ago, I was on my way home from work, and I had been listening to Joe dispenza about brain and heart coherence and manifesting . I started thinking about winning the lottery so day dreamed about that all the way home. When I pulled up in the driveway and got out of my car, I noticed that the sky was really clear and you could see so many stars out. My wife loves to look at the stars, so I went in and saw that she was still awake, so we went back outside and were looking at the stars. I started telling her about my ride home and dreaming of the lottery. As soon as I was done telling her I looked up at the sky and said " God if I'm gonna win the lotto let me see a shooting star and at that moment a shooting star flew through the sky. We both were speechless and mesmerized. I went in the house and wrote my wife and I a check for 1 billion dollars and stuck it to the fridge. This may be our time.

I'm opting for the cash upfront, mainly because I'm planning to spend more at first to buy my house, ect. With the annuity I'd be getting 30 million in 29 years while only getting 8 million to start out, which is almost the opposite of how I'd like to use it.
I'd diffidently want to make sure my parents and siblings had enough to give them all a fresh start with no debt and modest houses. For myself I'd pay off bills, go on a shopping spree and buy a house in the middle of the most beautiful forest I can find.

I love that plan!! Id want to take the lump sum too for similar reasons- pay off all my debt and my parents debt and my god parents debt buy my mom her dream house…I’d take a tropical vacation to get away for a bit and come to terms with my new life in private and when I got back I’d ofc have to upgrade from my current apartment

    • @cestmoi914
      @cestmoi914 Год назад +2

Even if you get the lump sum you can open a retirement IRA and give yourself monthly paycheck. All the rest of the money goes into the IRA. If you are young enough to live another 40 years and you set it up to pay you $200k the first year and increase the payout by 3% annually to cover inflation, you won’t live long enough to spend it all. And that way you get the stability of the annuity but you get the control of the lump sum!

I wish you the best of luck in winning a Lottery. But the worst thing you could do is help family or friends with a monetary pay-out. I'm not suggesting you do nothing for them. I'm just saying do so without them knowing where it came from. Mark my words, you give them money they will come back and ask for more. If you're willing to keep giving to them until it's all gone, then this conversation is pointless.

I should probably preface this by saying I live in the semi-rural west, which shapes the choices I would make. Generally, I want to see my neighbors prosper. Off the top of my head, here are some of the things I would do:
    * Contribute to local and regional food closets. This is an immediate need.
    * Work on a way to support STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) instruction in the schools.
    * Work on a plan to help "small" agriculture in the State.
    * Long term project - study ways to make our infrastructure more resilient.
Edit: Oh yeah, and I would quit my job and look to building generational wealth :o

I noticed reading through the comments that no-one would think of taking care of health problems.
I have a few things that I know could be better after in-depth investigation and treatment. Instead my doctor is just throwing more and more meds at it, keeping me sick and not looking to improve my situation.
Having a consultation with a top doctor would be one of the things I would have near the top of my list, after all, if I'm not well I can't disburse the funds the way I'd like to.
So seeing a top doctor would be up there with taking a long time out to think about the future of the money and how you would take care of others.

However, other major things I will do is open a cocktail bar / restaurant so I can just hangout on my free days with buddies. For me, if I won the billion, take the annuity payments which nets you an additional $300 million over the cash prize risk free vs investing with risk of loss. Then take those annual payments and have your financial advisor disperse that money to me in a monthly or biweekly allotment. I don't know how to be rich, my life has been built around a biweekly check. That is something I can manage. This way I can have security for 30+ years with no ability to overspend. I can live a life of luxury but not to excess that I become broke.

If I, alone, won a huge lottery prize, I would probably try and claim the winnings anonymously through an attorney and then see the financial planner that is recommended by the attorney to make the arrangements. I would definitely buy a new vehicle(something more fuel efficient and safer). Clothes. A few other things (I play the saxophone, so, I want to buy a few more, plus a piano). Move to another state where I am a stranger because I will not advertise that I am a millionaire. Buy land to build a home(nothing huge or too small . Just enough for me to move around and entertain guests)or redesign an existing home. I might consider discussing with the attorney about investing in a business project.
Through it all, at the end of the day, I will continue to be myself, either wealthy or not.

Then set up and some college accounts for our grandchildren for college and then give give give Because we believe the money can go a long way to help in a lot of families, and no helping less fortunate God gives you an abundance to have overflow to meet the needs of not just you and yours, but others as well.

Aside from setting up a trust and traveling for a couple of years, I'd take a page from the 80 million dollar Canadian winner and buy homes for my wife and I's parents, siblings aunt's and uncles and give them a yearly stipend to be "caretakers".
That would start in year 2, but in year 1 they would each get an initial $1,000 a day for a year to have fun with and we would meet up with them at various places around the world.
I'd also set up school funds for all the cousins, nieces and nephews.
After the first 2 years of traveling we'd buy some land and build an earth sheltered home and surround it with a food forest and regenerative farm that will act as our landscaping and privacy from others.

My only issue with annual payment is you have to trust on the government to pay you. Now, if you going to get the cash option thinking is better to grow that money, you probably will end up with still less money then the annual option. But of course, all depends on how much money you won.

When I win the the lottery, first I’ll thank God. I’ll have to see it as a blessing. I’ll pay off any debts I may owe(never going back in debt again). I’ll definitely put away a healthy amount for my two kids inheritance. I’ll begin to shop for a house or land and built one on it. I’ll try my hardest to be a silent financial blesser to ppl that need it. I’ll of course be wise in investing so that the funds can continue to roll in. I’ll enjoy the money and benefits from what the funds would allow me to.

The only amount that matters is what you get after the Gubbermint leaves you after taking out a huge amount of taxes right from the top and the beginning. You'll be lucky if you're left with 50% after taxes. If you're young enough to last another 30 years and take the yearly allotment, you'll get more, but if you do that have a good estate plan in case you die before the 30 years is up.
First hire a good estate lawyer, financial advisor and money management firm for fees only,...not a percentage. Trust no one. Check your finances and advisors monthly if not more.
Make a will. Don't tell anyone of your friends or relatives. Set up an anonymous foundation to distribute any funds that you want to go to your friends and relative.. Give a bunch to charity.
From what I've read, you have a better chance of being struck by lightening,...TWICE than winning the lottery.

Before you dump millions of YOUR winnings into various projects be 100% clear that 24% of the prize money will be withheld in federal taxes, then expect about another 25% to be lost to state and local taxes, and that is after you have already "lost" 50% of the headline jackpot amount to get the cash-now-option. So you will have about $235,000,000 to consider and remember about all the family and co-workers and everyone that has ever bought you a drink, given you a lift in their car that will be expecting their share of your money.

What state allows you to buy a ticket? Georgia has an app that allows you to buy tickets online but it recognizes if you are within the state or not, when I moved away I could no longer buy tickets through the app, and since the state that I moved to does not have the app, I have to purchase the ticket in person.

    • @SpamMouse
      @SpamMouse Год назад +1

The issue with most lotteries is that claiming any lottery prize generally require PROOF that the ticket was purchased while you were PHSYICALLY in the area where the ticket was sold. One does NOT need to be a US citizen to win either Powerball or MegaMillions jackpot, but if you seek to make a claim with an on-line ticket in your name and you are not in the country - they will almost certainly deny the pay-out, and there is nothing you can do about that.

I think with this amount of money you really have a social responsibility to contribute to the greater good. Seriously, how much does one person or one family need? How great would it be to invest in your town and put in a community center that has a gymnasium, swimming pool, art classes, musical performances, outdoor movies, walking/bike trails, pot luck dinners, a community garden, etc ?... it could be funded by the interest on an endowment and be able to operate perpetually. Or find something else that makes a positive impact on the world. Just think of how wonderful that would make you feel! Of course I want a nice home, a new EV car and a pickup truck, maybe a boat, a couple vacations every year, and to live debt free, but I can/do have most of that now. It just moves that retirement date to tomorrow instead of 11 years from now (and that would be AMAZING!). It would be great to help out friends and family if they needed something big, too. I'm already blessed and grateful for what I have, and winning a billion would be the icing.

When you go to the lottery office to collect your winnings, how many documents do you have to sign?

The annuity payout makes more sense because for one you get more of the winnings than if you took the lump sum, second it gives you guaranteed income for the next 30yrs, third it pays in 5% increases every year as well making it inflation proof and last it's also recession proof as well no matter what happens to the economy they legally have to pay you your money. It also gives you time to learn how to properly invest your money because you're only getting a little bit at a time, so if you get your first payment and blow it well that's probably a sign you can't manage money so just imagine if you took the lump sum lol now you'd be broke again because if you can't handle a few million why would you be able to handle a BILLION 🤷‍♂️. Right now currently at $1.35 billion if you take the cash option it's $700 million but the annuity after all payments are made will total $850 million post tax. I also live in California and there is no state tax for lottery winnings 😊

Then live off the dividends after a year. Don't quit your job right away is one of the few mistakes a lot a lottery winners make. Don't get addicted to drugs you'll waste it all.

I'll be honest and I'm sure most people would laugh at me for saying this but if I hit a billion , take the lump sum and after taxes probably be left with 4 or 5 billion left, my dream above all other wishes would be to buy a huge piece of property I'm talking at least 1000 acres have it completely fenced in then hire professionals to build structures, playgrounds, and different sections to make it a dog sanctuary. I want to take every dog in every shelter around the country bring them there with the single promise to be a place to be forever even if they don't get adopted. Give an area for senior dogs to relax and enjoy their last years in happiness and love. I would ask no money from anyone, fully staff the place with professional vets, dog trainers, and those that want to volunteer to play with these dogs every day. Dogs would have small houses to sleep in at night , covered areas for when it rains, and more toys and treats then all the pet stores in America. That's my dream. OK so go ahead and laugh call me a fool but it's what I desire to do with my money. God Bless to all and God Bless the little animals of the world.
