  • We will check on the splits that we made. Did they settle in okay? Also, did we make a queen from the Italian nuc? We will also peek into some honey supers to see how they are looking. #honeybees #beekeeper #beekeeping #beelife #bee

Hope you did not mess her wing up digging her out of that cell?

Looks good in the apiary brother. How is the fake apimaye doing for you? I am curious. Mine does just fine and has overwintered bees two years now. Wondering what your experience is.

I have some Italians in there and they are doing great so far. I was going to ask you about your HiveIQ, in winter did you have the varroa board in the bottom or did you leave them open?

@@theboonecountybeekeeper I experimented with them and had half in and the other half out. Bees made it though winter fine, but I have temp and humidity devices in them and once that had the board in had higher temps and higher moisture. Temps were about 10 degrees higher. I will experiment again this winter with it to see what happens. They did make it through with and without it. We don't have crazy winters here. sometimes it gets to 0, but it's rare. usually in 30s temps.

@@NKYHoneyBees yeah it sounds about like here as well. We had a decent winter, just 1 really cold spell for about a week and then in the 30's. Thanks buddy, I like the HiveIQ so far, the bees seem to be doing
      well in there.

Why did you use white instead of green?

Haha, it took me a long time to figure out what you was talking about. I used a white dot on any queen that was older, such as the swarm queens. I only used green on 24 queens. Thanks for watching!
