    That tension you feel is the subpar grease Pure fishing uses. I cleaned mine and applied the Diawa grease on the gears and oil in the bearing that XT feels a lot better.

    Just an FYI. You're not supposed to close the bail on a spinning reel by turning the handle. It warps the reel. You are supposed to manually close the bail with your hand.
    Thanks for the review.

    Awesome reel. My favorite spinning reel by far, and I own Shimanos, Daiwas, Lews, and some cheaper Shakespeare reels. The quality that you get for the president line of reels, for the price, is just outstanding.

      I think Daiwa is better. But I'm glad you like your reel, that's all that matters.

    Quickest way to ruin your spinning reel is to not manually flip the bail. He must have done the opposite 20 times.

      @@PhillyJohnny I e been backreeling for 5 years. Have not stripped my gears once.

    • @PhillyJohnny
      @PhillyJohnny 3 года назад +1

      @@MaineManBassing who said anything about backreeling? All I said is that it’s easier on the spinning reel to manually flip the bail. Every single reel company would suggest you manually flip the bail. Auto tripping the bail is harder on the gears/gear teeth. There’s nothing to debate here.

    The size 25 if perfect for trout / panfish. Gives a little extra strength than the 20 if you happen to get into a bigger fish. I love Pflueger reels, plus for the price it's rare to find a screw-in handle. Most of their spinning reels are screw-in handles.

    $49.99 Pflueger Summit Xt25 Specs 6.7 oz 10bb 5.2:1 braid ready 10lb drag bawt 3 in 2018. 2021 will be the fourth yr strt using thies reels paired with Okuma Celilo 5'6 ul 2pc Rod. Combo weighs a total of 10.1ozs I fish all day 13+hrs most days I make thousands of casts per outing I've used a lot of inexpensive gear in my 34yrs of angling. Thies combos are hands down by far my fav. Keep in mind I clean,inspect,lube,maintain all my gear myself prob once a yr primarily late winter,spring I can't afford thousand $ combos so I need to get my $ out of the gear I buy and thies combos stretch my $ the farthest.

    Hey man did you ever figure out how to get the tention smoother on the crank shaft and spool? I just bought it and I’m noticing the same thing. Barely any spin compared to my other reels.

      Mine was the same. I noticed if you turned the switch it’s very smooth in both directions but once you set the anti-reverse mine didn’t feel smooth anymore. Have the same reel in the regular President model and it’s extremely smooth.

    Probably as good as a shimano stratic. Trust me have many hours using both. Only thing is the stratic has smoother drag but over all the president is probably smoother over all

    • @MaineManBassing

      s ba I don’t fish saltwater, but as I understand, all reels are compatible with saltwater as long as you rinse them thoroughly after using.

    • @MMK86
      @MMK86 4 года назад +1

      Rinse under freshwater after each use...disassemble, oil and clean each year and you will be fine. If you are clumsy or it will get splashed with seawater often, look for something with sealed bearings and sealed drag - this reel only has sealed drag
