Not sure but... I think the power of 52nd street as a location for music is part of the reason that the great record shop in times square subway station existed for so many years, one stop away from 50th street station. That little store always had great stuff that you couldn't find anywhere else. I believe the owner once said that part of the secret to success was that musicians would come through from the music studios and clubs. And it was so great to come off the shuttle and hear salsa playing in the subway! Just a great NYC thing!

It sucks that the record stores are all pretty much gone…smfh. Used to love going to Tower Records for an hour or so all the time. Different world now.

@@thetruth72667 Yes, record stores were the BEST! Record Hunter was another great store! What about Patelson, a terrific music store with classical records and sheet music for every instrument. Used to be located just south of Carnegie Hall, now sadly gone. Hard to imagine that Billy Joel didn't browse through Patelson frequently and pick up some sheet music there! Enjoy the tunes! 🎵🎶🎵

Lose My Life and this might be my favourite Billy Joel album. Not a horrid song or anything but it feels out of place to me among these other songs.
