I love this travel video because it relates to both traveling and life in general. And though my words don’t come close to fully capturing the essence of this incredible journey, definitely I can say this is one of the best and most inspirational destinations for travel lovers.
As we stay a long time in countries we visit we spend a lot of time in the supermarket and markets. This market is so colorful and has a lot of options. That’s for showing us. This is useful to us as we are going to be visiting in the future.
Glad you found it useful! There is also an even bigger weekend market in the Zapote area of San Jose. The farmers markets are awesome and a great way to keep the grocery bills down.
Oh man, just stumbled upon this video. I used to go to the Plaza Viquez farmers market as a kid. I remember those train tracks right down the middle. It feels like 10,000 miles away and a lifetime ago now.
Awesome, thanks for watching! It sounds like things haven't changed much in the years since you lived there. The markets were a revelation to us after struggling to find cheap produce at the supermarkets.
Oh, feria del agricultor of Plaza Viquez. I recognize the landscape. Feria del agricultor is the way to bring your cost of living to a decent level. The only topic is that since it comes from the farm, you need to select and clean the food yourself. Some foods like lettuce for example, will need to submerge in water with a little bit of bleach to clean it. As you select, you need to make a difference between good and bad product. And if you go very early in the morning you get the best product available. There are many feria del agricultor in different places. Some on saturday and some on sunday. And if you have a car there is a place in cartago where these products can be bought even cheaper.
Hi Jose, thank you for sharing your insightful comments. It is definitely the way to make living in Costa Rica more affordable. We got a bit of a rude shock at the fruit and vegetable prices after living in Nicaragua for over a year! Thanks for watching.
@@BucketListTravellers haha. 😝 That egg fruit is weird! Never heard of such a thing. No wonder why the lady said it was good with Mayo, maybe something like an egg salad. Haha.
There are farmers markets (feria del agricultor) all around the country... Just ask around. That's not pasión fruit. That's granadilla. Pasión fruit in spanish is maracuyá. Other cheap places for stuff (not food) to take a look Pequeño mundo, almacén del rey, sol naciente, shoppers
Hi Rodvarmo, yes you right it was a granadilla, it is sweeter than maracuya. Very delicious. Thanks for the other tips as well!

Eating Pejibaye without mayonnaise is like eating cake without icing, you are missing the whole flavor eating it raw like that. Try again but with plenty mayonnaise on top and a mug of coffee this time.
Definitely! Up to 3 times cheaper in some instances. Yes, we stayed with Mainor for nearly a month in San Jose. We have his airbnb in our description if you are interested. We found the airbnb accommodation to be reasonable in the areas that we stayed (La Fortuna, Monteverde and San Jose).
@@BucketListTravellers another good drink very good for your stomach is linaza. Those drinks mozote and linaza refresh your belly and help you system to function better.

Every town in Costa Rica has a farmers market.
Yes, we eventually found that out a little late! Farmers markets in Costa Rica are great!
My guy is double masked eating fruit from a strangers hand. Hahaha. Much science.
Yes we see the irony in that!
