Maybe she wanted to kill some of her characters to see how the other characters who are still on the show. How it affects them as they try to move on. Death does happen in real life that is out of our control. I think Shonda and the writers wanted to show that in the show too. I think she and the writers are doing good job. The show seem to still be going strong in my opinion. It may not have high ratings as it once did. But it happens with a long running show your ratings will fall after time.

Sandra Oh (Cristina) said in an interview that she wouldnt come back not even for a cameo which was proven when Derek died. She should have been the FIRST person ther for Mer.
