This was a great example on how not to interview a guest. He didn't even try to state her name correctly, nor announce her book accurately. The disrespect. She is great sport for tolerating the nonsense. She is patient and kind, and encouraging. Great mind, Great Spirit. 💗

She is simply fabulous. Not only is she brilliant and beautiful but she has a very pleasant personality. I liked what she said about IQ as well. I wish the interviewer was better prepared. He didn’t pronounce her name correctly, didn’t know what her book was about, and interrupted a lot to say something that didn’t add to the conversation or lead us to learn more about her.
I really like the fact that she didn’t make any apologies for being intelligent, the host was trying to bait her into making her say something abasing and she didn’t give him that.
I think she improved this aspect with time. Her interview on Letterman was highlighted by self effacement in 1986. However, she’s doing much better here.

This is from 45 years ago, a good amount of what's being said isn't quite accurate by today's understanding. She definitely made money from having a 228 iq.
The poise and professionalism she exhibits in interviews is always impressive. Her wit and rapid responses absolutely prove she could rip holes into the egos of her interviewers if she saw fit.
You should view the Letterman interview with her in 1986. He was so condescending. That she did not walk out on the interview just shows how classy she is.
Alexandra - you're right. I'm a man and would give ANYTHING to just talk to her.....her reasoning and explanations are very sensible and kind. The people who interview her are inexplicably rude, unfocused, and a waste of time.
Marilyn is charming, poised, patient, and graceful in this interview. Joe is woefully underprepared, intimidated, and patronizing and an embarrassment to homo sapiens.

I was dating a girl whose brother was in his final year at med school before becoming a doctor. He was bragging about his IQ as he had recently completed a test and got what could be describedas a very satisfactory result. He was so damn smug and quite rude tbh. He even went so far as to attempt to belittle me and talk over me in conversations, basing his perception of my intelligence on my career at the time. I took the exact same test to see just how much smarter than me he really was. Well I outdid him by quite a bit.. He was mortified.
I went to a top medical school and dropped out. Now I’m studying programming. While you can’t be stupid to be a doctor, all you really need is slightly above average intelligence. There is a massive misconception regarding intelligence and doctors imo. From my observations, the students that did the best were not necessarily the smartest. The ones that did the best were the ones with the greatest work ethic and time management skills. Some were frankly dumb, but did literally nothing else other than study nonstop so they did well on exams. Medicine is pretty much all memorization, if you have a great memory or the ability to study for many hours everyday you will be a good doctor. If you are extremely intelligent yet have a horrible work ethic, you will fail. That’s THE most important character trait that is needed, the discipline to study for many hours. It is not intelligence. There’s very little problem solving required for doctors to do, it’s all about being able to identify the disease and follow the outlined protocols. At the end of the day, IQ is a measurement of one’s ability to quickly gather information and problem solve with it. Now that I’m transitioning to become a programmer I can say without a hesitation of a doubt that I have to think harder everyday than in any of my 3 years in med school. I believe the most intelligent people are mathematicians, physicists, and engineers. Their entire careers revolve around problem solving and using their creativity.
@@bear532 I'd be inclined to agree on your points, however I wasn't trying state anything besides the fact the guy already had an inflated ego, and when he completed the test it grew even more. He could have been an astronaut, a lawyer, or on any less or more prestigious career path. I'm glad I took some of the air out of his ego. I'd like to think he learnt his lesson and became a little more humble and less assuming, but I'm not sure he did. I know, according to his sister ehen we last spoke, he had taken the same test at least twice more hoping for a better result. Turns out these aren't the tests you can memorise a textbook for. In the vid she states people who take these tests are often disappointed with the results. Thinking they are smarter. This was my experience with an IQ test. Kind of surprised, but mostly happy I had ammunition against an arrogant dinner table bully.
@@duncanb1981 What you say about med school rings true with most doctors not being able to diagnosis complex multi symptom diseases. Many patients go from doctor to doctor before getting a proper diagnosis being treated by each doctor for one or two of their symptoms. People are taught to seek medical help their ailments then many times get blamed for their illness because doctors can't help them. Illness can cause stress yet doctors try to blame patient's illness on the stress instead of telling the patient they don't have any help for them.
I was told by an 8th grade teacher that I had the second highest IQ in the school, and it went to my ego. I Immediately became insufferably obnoxious and had considerable difficulty making friends for decades afterwards, because of my attitude. I am 70 years old now and am convinced that I am stupid, and getting increasingly stupider with age. I often tell people that I know something about everything, but I dont know everything about anything.
These old 80s interviews are hard to watch. They didn't really let her speak, they'd ask her a question and cut in before she could explain the answer properly. Who could possibly 'seem smart' under those circumstances? Also, being young here, she doesn't have to be wise as well. That takes a few more years. If this were happening today, 60,000 women would immediately take to Twitter in protest how difficult it is to be a woman in this situation, with some old dude with a big ego who just wants to have the louder voice, the most words, and 95% of the limelight, and who dominates the conversation because it's just easier to talk over the top of women than it is other men. Mind you, unfortunately, there are still a load of chat show hosts just like that, who don't get called out on it as much as you'd hope...
It has nothing to do with the 80s. Most tv interviewers today are just as rude. In fact it could be argued that with all the add and constant smartphone use, enabling the coarseness of our culture, today is even worse. And BTW, it also has nothing to do with women either. That's just msm propaganda. They didn't treat Golda Meir like this in interviews. But look at how rude the press was to Trump. A MAN and THE PRESIDENT. I agree with you about the interview/interviewers. The longer they have been doing it, the worst they are. Hannity is a prime example. The guy gets some of the most informed guests on in the world, and then won’t let them finish a sentence! Makes me want to tear my hair out. So I just stopped listening to him. It’s not worth the frustration! These people are professional motor mouths. They just love to hear themselves talk!
I have seen a few interviews with her now and one thing that struck me is that she often mentionned how the IQ tests work is flawed and don't mean much when defining what intelligence is. All my life people who weren't really that smart always pushed how high their IQ was as a status or even part of their whole personality. Meanwhile the really smart ones never really cared about it or explained how it isn't that important.

I was always told I wasn't living up to my potential. Even when I excelled. Despite so much psychological disruption. Even when I rose above everything and everybody and every adverse situation. I was expected to and anticipated to do more. I just ignored it all and have lived my life. But I saved a lot of lives during COVID and helped people all throughout my life. And pursued my own happiness. You have to be happy in your own life.

She is right everybody do have the capacity to be an Einstein. But according to another interview with Marilyn Savant, she also said that motivation is not something that can be taught. Which is the crucial ingredient for success in a given field.
The people hating on this woman in the comments are butthurt that someone has an IQ smarter than everyone else and that it's a female. One thing I see everyone hung up on is the fact that she said everyone can be an Einstein.... when Einstein himself literally said the same thing.
Don't try, kid. She is a very nice person and very humble about the value of a high IQ. She herself is a proof that high IQ is not the same as being right or insightful or judgmental -- the unscientific myth that we use only 10% of out brains is one such that she believed in. With high IQ it is only easier for you to solve certain limited problems.

I took a test from Omni magazine years ago. It was based on the top questions only those with the highest IQ got right. Each question was in the form of an analogy. Every time I found puzzles or tests in magazines, I would take them. My result for this test was 132 IQ, which fell right in line to all the other tests I had take. Marilyn is a better person than I. Being smarter than so many of my bosses made me very impatient. I had always been impatient with other kids when growing up. Other than that, however, I am very glad for my gift.

It amazes me how these interviewers just try to pull this lady down. Letterman did the same thing on his show and belittled and patronised this very intelligent person until she was embarrassed and just wanted to leave. Wake up to yourselves men, no wonder the girls walk out on you .... this applies to the men who have smart wives too. What bad manners they display. I am surprised they get any air time at all.
After seeing several of her interviews it seems that she is quite compassionate with these grabbler charlatans. She doesn't answer his trap questions and rather makes solid statements of her own. You go girl! He cuts her off she redirects with her previous answer. He plays the victim of history, she laughs and continues her point. The only recent minds similar are O1 Benjamin, Vox Day or RIP Norm Macdonald. What a treat when a huge brain braves the requests and demands knowing beforehand who, what, where, how, why, and to what desired extent she will be attacked by all the inadequacies and inequities of humanity. Media exists to destroy the good, the true, and the beautiful that is shared by those with the power to create. I agree totally with so much of what she says here. I did a thesis on IQ and came to the same conclusion, it definitely measures something but does it really measure intelligence? I don't think so..... b/c as she says here it doesn't indicate (conclusively) what you WILL do. She said people should not be told their IQ, I think I agree. I found out mine years ago and got no solace from it. I have taken them all, the WISC, the WAIS, Stanford Binet etc at first I didnt believe it so I took it again and it was a little higher! Then higher and each time I took it it was a little higher so I stopped. I was SO over the top hard on myself it wasn't even funny all through high school and college. I'm okay with it now but looking back in all honesty I wish I didnt know mine even though it explained a lot I probably lost a lot of joy by being so self critical.
its more like pattern recognition it seems (though i dont know much about the full range of types of questions.) Definitely a major aspect to intelligence. Also, aware people are always intelligent but not all intelligent people are highly aware.

Yep, what a waste of such a singularly brilliant and beautiful personality... that it had to be sent to Earth at that time. And that she was forced to have discourse with people who could neither see, hear, or engage her properly.
I like the quote: "you can have your head in books your whole life and not get any brighter". Because I am getting a real sense of that these days. The same might also be said of Savant that she read books and was not as bright as she wished to be. Everyone tries to sell their intelligence even Savant. It can be painful to admit your imperfection. The gap between who you want to be and what you are. We can evolve into something more than we were. We are like sculptures. And the hypervisor in our brain (I surmise) guides us into different modes of thinking and feeling so that we can become a more complete person. The hypervisor works on different parts of the sculpture and this we feel that we are that piece, but we are not any one piece. All that exists is the sculptor and sculpture, and parts of the sculpture being worked on, this is who we feel we are at any time. An aspect of mentality is the struggle between reason (logic / architect ) and madness (emotional drives / ego / artist). We can either be a most Zen like person or go mad in our passions. Indulging our passions has value and its what makes us human. But allowed to run amok, they can destroy us. Without our passion we lack the quality of being human, but too much and without reason, we turn into beasts.
it's somewhat true. we gain knowledge from books, which in itself doesn't make us smarter. but the way we interpret and analyze that knowledge is with our intelligence. as we continue doing that, we grow more capable of deeper and faster analysis of subjects. that's intelligence. that's how we can increase our IQ by reading books. as someone with 125 IQ, I'm always interested in how i can improve my intelligence.

I used to administer several different IQ tests as part of my job. IQ stands for "intelligence quotient." A quotient is the answer to a division equation or problem. A person's IQ is determined by dividing one's chronological age with one's mental/intelligence/ability age - and then multiplied by one hundred. A person's ability (or level of intelligence) is determined by a series of sub tests that are administered a specific way each time they are given. An average person's score will be equal to their actual - or chronological age - and equal 1. When multiplied by 100 he/she will have an IQ score of 100.
Actually, it's the reverse. You divide the mental/intelligence/ability age by the chronological age and multiply that by 100. Example: mental/intelligence/ability age 14, divided by chronological age 10, is equal to 1.4. Multiply that by 100 to get an IQ of 140.

Seems like a great person to hang out with. I grew up with many smart people during my school years and their futures were always told to be bright. Out of all the book smart kids I met, I ended up with a more lucrative job than 95% of them. Very few book smart people are able to flourish outside of the classroom. As this lady pointed out that if you spend too much time with your face in books you miss out on the wisdom that’s brought about through actually living life. There are however some much smart people that I grew up with who did live life and they are making the kind of cash that they deserve. That kind of intelligence is much rarer to find.
Marilyn makes Joe Franklyn seem like he’s of a different species. I just hope her confidence and emotional resilience quotients were as high as her intelligence because my word she had to tolerate a lot of disrespect and abuse.
I think people feel threatened, not so much by her but by the idea of her recorded IQ. Most interviews with her are along these lines. Where people seem to disrespect her for no apparent reason.
A shame there are not many (real) interviews with her, between this interview and Letterman, I can understand her not having much enthusiasm or motivation to spend her time doing them.

considering the state of computing at the time, her assumption is not too far off. Singularity is still a daydream. So its not an exaggeration when she brushes of the notion because such an event is unlikely to occur during her lifetime assuming if it ever will.
If robots becomes intelligent and self-aware, why take for granted that they "must" take over? The premise in the question is ridiculous and paranoid. It is rather very likely that a highly intelligent computer should strive to live in symbiosis with humans -- and why shouldn't they? They can do things humans can't, and humans can do things that computers can't. It is more likely that the computers should have more to fear from humans than the other way around -- and the reason _why_ is embedded in the ridiculous question already mentioned.
@@Stroheim333 If a computer becomes capable of free thought ( legitimate A.I. ) and has access to machines or other robots with the ability to move and grab things. Then at that point what can a human still do that the computer cannot as once this point is reached the computer is fully capable of building, programming, mining, processing materials etc and everything else humans can do except had organic sex for reproduction and maybe a few other pretty irrelevant things that would just normally be a hindrance like sleeping and breathing... At that point it would be able to build and do anything a human can do and better. It could learn and design things far more precise and thought out. It would no doubt see humans as in it's way somehow

That is exactly what I refer to as paranoid thinking. The simple thing is that different groups of humans already can do everything that other groups of humans can do, the world is full of independent nations for example, and still we chose to live together and benefit from that. She is wrong when she says we use only 7 or 8% of our brains. Conduct your own Google search and you will see she is wrong about that. But she is lovely, charming and generally intelligent. I like her.
When I 1st herd of her is when I read her column in Parade back in the mid 80s. I was always amazed by her. I would love to ask her a personal question one day.

And being smart isn't about knowing everything, but having a sense of how things work, and knowing how to research basic concepts before making claims about them. Why does everyone have all this hatred on this smart, sensible lady and not concerned about this total idiot of an interviewer at all? He continuously interrupts the person he's interviewing and goes on about his doctor referring to "kidneys" as "kidleys" or whatever he said. I tuned out half way through, but he can't even pronounce the name of the person he's about to interview! During this interview he didn't even expand on anything, or get relevant insights into the interviewee at all. You're interviewing one of the smartest people on Earth. No one cares about "guys being intimidated by her" and the episodes of it. Absolutely terrible.

Knowledge and wisdom come from practice: 1) memorize, 2) understand, 3) extrapolate, 4) generalize so that less needs to be memorized, ..., n) repeat. Each of these abilities will improve with applied practice -- individual capability grows exponentially until senility sets in.
Wow .. how the world has changed. Letterman and this guy seem to more intimidated than fascinated. They wouldn’t let her speak and acted like blow fish and clowns. Personally, I wish she did more more with her gift. But wonder if the male dominated society she grew up in stifled the options. I was dating a girl whose brother was in his final year at med school before becoming a doctor. He was bragging about his IQ as he had recently completed a test and got what could be describedas a very satisfactory result. He was so damn smug and quite rude tbh. He even went so far as to attempt to belittle me and talk over me in conversations, basing his perception of my intelligence on my career at the time.
I took the exact same test to see just how much smarter than me he really was.

I went to a top medical school and dropped out. Now I’m studying programming. While you can’t be stupid to be a doctor, all you really need is slightly above average intelligence. There is a massive misconception regarding intelligence and doctors imo. From my observations, the students that did the best were not necessarily the smartest. The ones that did the best were the ones with the greatest work ethic and time management skills. Some were frankly dumb, but did literally nothing else other than study nonstop so they did well on exams. Medicine is pretty much all memorization, if you have a great memory or the ability to study for many hours everyday you will be a good doctor. If you are extremely intelligent yet have a horrible work ethic, you will fail. That’s THE most important character trait that is needed, the discipline to study for many hours. It is not intelligence.
There’s very little problem solving required for doctors to do, it’s all about being able to identify the disease and follow the outlined protocols. At the end of the day, IQ is a measurement of one’s ability to quickly gather information and problem solve with it. Now that I’m transitioning to become a programmer I can say without a hesitation of a doubt that I have to think harder everyday than in any of my 3 years in med school. I believe the most intelligent people are mathematicians, physicists, and engineers. Their entire careers revolve around problem solving and using their creativity.

In the vid she states people who take these tests are often disappointed with the results. Thinking they are smarter.
This was my experience with an IQ test. Kind of surprised, but mostly happy I had ammunition against an arrogant dinner table bully.
@@duncanb1981 What you say about med school rings true with most doctors not being able to diagnosis complex multi symptom diseases. Many patients go from doctor to doctor before getting a proper diagnosis being treated by each doctor for one or two of their symptoms. People are taught to seek medical help their ailments then many times get blamed for their illness because doctors can't help them. Illness can cause stress yet doctors try to blame patient's illness on the stress instead of telling the patient they don't have any help for them.
I've noticed that the brightest minds are almost always very humble. Not fake-humble but genuinely humble. 👍🙏

I was told by an 8th grade teacher that I had the second highest IQ in the school, and it went to my ego. I Immediately became insufferably obnoxious and had considerable difficulty making friends for decades afterwards, because of my attitude. I am 70 years old now and am convinced that I am stupid, and getting increasingly stupider with age. I often tell people that I know something about everything, but I dont know everything about anything.

These old 80s interviews are hard to watch. They didn't really let her speak, they'd ask her a question and cut in before she could explain the answer properly. Who could possibly 'seem smart' under those circumstances? Also, being young here, she doesn't have to be wise as well. That takes a few more years.
If this were happening today, 60,000 women would immediately take to Twitter in protest how difficult it is to be a woman in this situation, with some old dude with a big ego who just wants to have the louder voice, the most words, and 95% of the limelight, and who dominates the conversation because it's just easier to talk over the top of women than it is other men.
Mind you, unfortunately, there are still a load of chat show hosts just like that, who don't get called out on it as much as you'd hope...

I agree with you about the interview/interviewers. The longer they have been doing it, the worst they are. Hannity is a prime example. The guy gets some of the most informed guests on in the world, and then won’t let them finish a sentence! Makes me want to tear my hair out. So I just stopped listening to him. It’s not worth the frustration! These people are professional motor mouths. They just love to hear themselves talk!
I have seen a few interviews with her now and one thing that struck me is that she often mentionned how the IQ tests work is flawed and don't mean much when defining what intelligence is. All my life people who weren't really that smart always pushed how high their IQ was as a status or even part of their whole personality. Meanwhile the really smart ones never really cared about it or explained how it isn't that important.

I was always told I wasn't living up to my potential. Even when I excelled. Despite so much psychological disruption. Even when I rose above everything and everybody and every adverse situation. I was expected to and anticipated to do more. I just ignored it all and have lived my life. But I saved a lot of lives during COVID and helped people all throughout my life. And pursued my own happiness. You have to be happy in your own life.

I took a test from Omni magazine years ago. It was based on the top questions only those with the highest IQ got right. Each question was in the form of an analogy. Every time I found puzzles or tests in magazines, I would take them. My result for this test was 132 IQ, which fell right in line to all the other tests I had take.
Marilyn is a better person than I. Being smarter than so many of my bosses made me very impatient. I had always been impatient with other kids when growing up. Other than that, however, I am very glad for my gift.

I agree totally with so much of what she says here. I did a thesis on IQ and came to the same conclusion, it definitely measures something but does it really measure intelligence? I don't think so..... b/c as she says here it doesn't indicate (conclusively) what you WILL do.
She said people should not be told their IQ, I think I agree. I found out mine years ago and got no solace from it. I have taken them all, the WISC, the WAIS, Stanford Binet etc at first I didnt believe it so I took it again and it was a little higher! Then higher and each time I took it it was a little higher so I stopped. I was SO over the top hard on myself it wasn't even funny all through high school and college. I'm okay with it now but looking back in all honesty I wish I didnt know mine even though it explained a lot I probably lost a lot of joy by being so self critical.

Yep, what a waste of such a singularly brilliant and beautiful personality... that it had to be sent to Earth at that time. And that she was forced to have discourse with people who could neither see, hear, or engage her properly.
I like the quote: "you can have your head in books your whole life and not get any brighter". Because I am getting a real sense of that these days.
The same might also be said of Savant that she read books and was not as bright as she wished to be. Everyone tries to sell their intelligence even Savant. It can be painful to admit your imperfection. The gap between who you want to be and what you are.
We can evolve into something more than we were. We are like sculptures. And the hypervisor in our brain (I surmise) guides us into different modes of thinking and feeling so that we can become a more complete person. The hypervisor works on different parts of the sculpture and this we feel that we are that piece, but we are not any one piece.
All that exists is the sculptor and sculpture, and parts of the sculpture being worked on, this is who we feel we are at any time.
An aspect of mentality is the struggle between reason (logic / architect ) and madness (emotional drives / ego / artist). We can either be a most Zen like person or go mad in our passions. Indulging our passions has value and its what makes us human. But allowed to run amok, they can destroy us.
Without our passion we lack the quality of being human, but too much and without reason, we turn into beasts.
it's somewhat true. we gain knowledge from books, which in itself doesn't make us smarter. but the way we interpret and analyze that knowledge is with our intelligence. as we continue doing that, we grow more capable of deeper and faster analysis of subjects. that's intelligence. that's how we can increase our IQ by reading books. as someone with 125 IQ, I'm always interested in how i can improve my intelligence.

I used to administer several different IQ tests as part of my job. IQ stands for "intelligence quotient." A quotient is the answer to a division equation or problem. A person's IQ is determined by dividing one's chronological age with one's mental/intelligence/ability age - and then multiplied by one hundred.
A person's ability (or level of intelligence) is determined by a series of sub tests that are administered a specific way each time they are given. An average person's score will be equal to their actual - or chronological age - and equal 1. When multiplied by 100 he/she will have an IQ score of 100.
Most people don't know this, and think a 10 year old with an IQ of 150 is equivalent to a 20 year old with the same IQ.

Actually, it's the reverse. You divide the mental/intelligence/ability age by the chronological age and multiply that by 100. Example: mental/intelligence/ability age 14, divided by chronological age 10, is equal to 1.4. Multiply that by 100 to get an IQ of 140.

I grew up with many smart people during my school years and their futures were always told to be bright. Out of all the book smart kids I met, I ended up with a more lucrative job than 95% of them. Very few book smart people are able to flourish outside of the classroom. As this lady pointed out that if you spend too much time with your face in books you miss out on the wisdom that’s brought about through actually living life. There are however some much smart people that I grew up with who did live life and they are making the kind of cash that they deserve. That kind of intelligence is much rarer to find.

considering the state of computing at the time, her assumption is not too far off. Singularity is still a daydream. So its not an exaggeration when she brushes of the notion because such an event is unlikely to occur during her lifetime assuming if it ever will.
If robots becomes intelligent and self-aware, why take for granted that they "must" take over? The premise in the question is ridiculous and paranoid. It is rather very likely that a highly intelligent computer should strive to live in symbiosis with humans -- and why shouldn't they? They can do things humans can't, and humans can do things that computers can't. It is more likely that the computers should have more to fear from humans than the other way around -- and the reason _why_ is embedded in the ridiculous question already mentioned.

Then at that point what can a human still do that the computer cannot as once this point is reached the computer is fully capable of building, programming, mining, processing materials etc and everything else humans can do except had organic sex for reproduction and maybe a few other pretty irrelevant things that would just normally be a hindrance like sleeping and breathing...
At that point it would be able to build and do anything a human can do and better. It could learn and design things far more precise and thought out. It would no doubt see humans as in it's way somehow

That is exactly what I refer to as paranoid thinking. The simple thing is that different groups of humans already can do everything that other groups of humans can do, the world is full of independent nations for example, and still we chose to live together and benefit from that. The common misconception that computers "must" conquer the world once they are more advanced than humans, is probably an unconscious remnant from 19th century imperialist and racial thinking that continued to live on in early science fiction, when the idea first became very popular.

Mr.Joe Franklyn was a genuine mensch and very informed. An intelligent delightful chap. I walked past him as he was talking in Manhattan, NY awhile back. Watched him also on tv.
He botched this interview but at least asked a few relevant questions.

When I 1st herd of her is when I read her column in Parade back in the mid 80s. I was always amazed by her. I would love to ask her a personal question one day.

And being smart isn't about knowing everything, but having a sense of how things work, and knowing how to research basic concepts before making claims about them. Perhaps she was referring to us only using 10% of the electrical potential of our brains. But that would be a trivial observation, irrelevant.

The standard accepted definition of intelligence is the ability to learn quickly.

Why does everyone have all this hatred on this smart, sensible lady and not concerned about this total idiot of an interviewer at all? He continuously interrupts the person he's interviewing and goes on about his doctor referring to "kidneys" as "kidleys" or whatever he said. I tuned out half way through, but he can't even pronounce the name of the person he's about to interview! During this interview he didn't even expand on anything, or get relevant insights into the interviewee at all. You're interviewing one of the smartest people on Earth. No one cares about "guys being intimidated by her" and the episodes of it. Absolutely terrible.

She is probably right about individuals being Einsteins. Knowledge and wisdom come from practice: 1) memorize, 2) understand, 3) extrapolate, 4) generalize so that less needs to be memorized, ..., n) repeat. Each of these abilities will improve with applied practice -- individual capability grows exponentially until senility sets in.

Letterman and this guy seem to more intimidated than fascinated. They wouldn’t let her speak and acted like blow fish and clowns.

A man can become wise, and a woman can become wise too regardless of her/his IQ, but, when a man has the fortune to meet a woman who is really wise, he has to be wise enough to listen to her words respectfully and closely, and that my friends is being wise, it is really a pleasure to drink the words of a woman who is really wise!
