I lived a few miles from the road mistaken for the Prescott airport and saw the light pole he sheared. The road was in a Prescott Valley subdivision under construction. There was some controversy about a case of beer he had onboard. A few construction workers took him to a motel and got rid of the beer (evidence). The story was squelched nationally but because of the construction guys there was followup for weeks afterward. I think the guys were charged but too long ago to remember those details.

The ranch he owned here in New Mexico was also a dude ranch where they had horse back rides and a few one room huts that they would ride to. They had camp fires and music there and a top chef that cooked for them all. If was only done once a year and alot of the people that would make reservations for that week where people that had money and fly in to Santa Fe and there would be a ranch hand that would meet them to bring them to the ranch. Untill about two years ago they would still keep it going in his honor. The ranch at that time and still is named Indian head because one of the mesas look like the head of an Indian. A fire that we had here in New Mexico burned alot of the ranch but didn't get close to the ranch house or the grounds. He was also in to his horse's so much that he also completed in some of the horse shows as a hobby.

It's been so very long since I left comment for you but I cannot allow another moment to pass before I do. Patrick Swayze was one of my favorites...of the newer stars, that is. I'm a "Classic Film" buff and own over 2000 films but there is always room for talented people and films that were not from those early days. Of course, many will remember his wonderful portrayals in such films as "Dirty Dancing" and Ghost. No matter what role he took, he always gave it everything he had and that was always more than enough. Thank you for highlighting this wonderful actor, dancer and man who was gone far too soon.
