From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures comes “Max,” a family action adventure from writer/director Boaz Yakin (“Remember the Titans,” “Now You See Me”).
A precision-trained military dog, Max serves on the frontlines in Afghanistan alongside his handler, U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott. But when things go terribly wrong on maneuvers, Kyle is mortally wounded and Max, traumatized by the loss of his best friend, is unable to remain in service.
Shipped stateside, the only human he seems willing to connect with is Kyle’s teenage brother, Justin, so Max is adopted by Kyle’s family, essentially saving his life. But Justin has issues of his own, such as living up to his father’s expectations for him; he isn’t interested in taking responsibility for his brother’s troubled dog. However, Max may be Justin’s only chance to discover what really happened to his brother that day on the front, and with the help of a tough-talking young teen, Carmen, who has a way with dogs, Justin begins to appreciate his canine companion.
Justin’s growing trust in Max helps the four-legged veteran revert back to his heroic self, and as the pair race against time to unravel the mystery, they find more excitement-and danger-than they bargained for. But they each might also find an unlikely new best friend…in each other.
“Max” stars Josh Wiggins (“Hellion”) as Justin Wincott, Lauren Graham (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” TV’s “Parenthood”) as his mom, Pamela, and Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church (“Sideways”) as his dad, Ray.
Yakin directed the film from a screenplay he wrote with Sheldon Lettich (“Legionnaire”). Karen Rosenfelt (“Marley & Me,” the “Twilight” series) and Ken Blancato (“The Book Thief”) served as producers, with Ben Ormand and Yakin executive producing.
Yakin’s behind-the-scenes creative team included director of photography Stefan Czapsky (“Safe”), production designer Kalina Ivanov (“The Vow,” “Little Miss Sunshine”), editor Bill Pankow (“The Untouchables,” “Let’s Be Cops”) and costume designer Ellen Lutter (“Grown Ups,” “50 First Dates). The music is by Trevor Rabin (“Grudge Match,” “Remember the Titans”).
Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures present, a Sunswept Entertainment production, a Boaz Yakin movie, “Max.” The film opens nationwide on June 26, 2015, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
“Max” has been rated PG by the MPAA for action violence, peril, brief language and some thematic elements.

This movie made me realize something important I think lots of people don't consider about Rememberance Day. Military dogs play such a important part along side their handlers and these dogs have died to protect us. For that I give thanks to both human and dog soldiers alike.

I cried so hard during this video. It is one of the best songs/movies I have ever heard/watched. May we always honour and remember war dogs and their handlers.
I just saw Max opening day last night (June 26, 2015 USA) and when the credits came on I cried so much because of the story line. To the 36 dogs and 35 handlers that died since 2003.
I know but I thought it would be a lot more from the I.E.D.'s and RPG's and stuff.

I own a Dogo Argentino and he was my first dog EVER if he does younger than 11 I will cry my eyes out edit:or ever but it's life he is an amazing dog and he helps my dad with his Social Anxiety Disorder and is a great guard dog and companion

Dogs are the best companions we could possibly have . God created these loyal creatures and it's honestly an Honor being able to own a German Shepherd . She is my bestfriend , my guard dog and the paws to lean on whenever i am struggling . Definitely worth owning a K9

The Joeker Cats are smarter than dogs by nature unless you spoil them. Their main job is to calm the owner one of the methods are by purring while laying over in the lap or by side of the person. They can also attack if the owner is in danger. While dogs are there for same loyal things but in different fashion. Then again it all depends of the animal's nature. They are same as humans some of them are stupid and useless and some of them are helping and use logic.

Such a great movie, my 7yr old son has a husky and we have family members in the service. Needless to say this was an excellent tribute to the dog's and handlers past and preset. Happy to share that moment with him.

My mom was in The Airforce and my dad wad in The Army..."MAX" reminds me of my dog when I was a child!!! True companions in every sense of the word!!! A Pastor friend of mine said these beautiful words: "Our scars become our stars!!!" I would like to add, "God wants us to come to a place of rest to quiet our hearts, a place of joy to delight our soul."
