  • In this video I am repairing an antique grandfather clock that I got while stationed in England. Depending on who you talk to it was made between 1780-1850. It was appraised twice in 2000 once before I departed England for supplemental insurance purposes and another in May 2000 when I got to my next duty station to make a claim on my insurance. It wouldnt appraise that these days because grandfather clock values are extremely low.

    This shows how many times you have to play with the movement and watching what the clock does or doesn't do. It's not always that easy to work on clocks. Thanks for the Shout-outs Mark. God Bless. I always enjoy watching Old Movements that I haven't had a chance to put my hands on one.

      Yes this particular movement was ticking all night with a home made suspension spring. I ordered a suspension spring from timesavers long ago after the girls through the parts away. The spring is too weak so I made one. When I add the intermediate wheel, the center minute arbor and hour pipe within a few minutes it stops. So I made a double suspension spring out of an aluminum can and I am still fighting with it trying to get it to run for more than 15 minutes. Thanks for watching. God bless you and yours.

      I am having trouble with keeping this clock in beat. It might be awhile. I might have to take the entire movement apart and polish it up with mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish to make everything new again. Thanks for watching. God bless.

    Oh, Wow. Love those two grandfather clocks. Yes, I read the shirt as you know, I had to take a double look at it. So far this is very interesting, but need to take dad to breakfast. I'll be back.

    We got very lucky moving my Granfather's grandfather clock from Illinois to North Carolina. I had no idea how to move it and didn't remove the pendulum and weights. When I oiled the movement and started it up, it kept great time and was still in beat.

    "A antique?" Really???

    • @munnerlyn3
      @munnerlyn3  2 месяца назад

      Yes it is an antique. Antique clocks are considered something that is 100 years or older. Since this clock was made between 1780-1850 it more that qualifies for that.

      @@munnerlyn3 he is talking about your video title. You have a antique, not an antique.
