Unlike many foreign fighters, Ramon displayed such gameness, toughness, and a high level of skill that it was very easy to respect him. Also, he was all class outside of the ring; and that matters in Thailand.
Does it have to be qualified as foreigner though? To me he's a top 20 all time Muay Thai fighter period. He's closer to Buakaw and maybe Lerdsila than Samart and Deselnoi ranking wise though.
@@woutkoopman I don't think anyone expected Dekkers to be an aggressive maniac outside of the ring. When Dekkers gets an opening, you cover and run. There are no other alternatives. 🤣 Watching this man made me fall in love with the Art of Dutch Style Kickboxing.
Yeah, Dutch kick boxing put boxing in the center of kick boxing. It also as you say introduces rhythm, pace. I personally don't like itwhen that style fighters don't know how to use their hands or don't go for the openings.
Awesome mechanics. Always within his center, balanced, and grounded. All the muscle in the world won’t work if you can’t connect it to the mat. When you watch him in slo-mo you can see how his upper body sets up the savage low kicks. At actual speed, by the time you’ve picked up on the movement it’s already hit you.
Kinetic chain at its best. The end of the chain being mostly KO material. He is epidomy of power as he has incredible (and timed) speed and unbelievable (bone breaking) force. Most of his opponents did not realise just how much force they were to receive…
Fighting against this beast must be like fighting against a mobile boulder that fights back. What a balance he had! He was the Tyson of Muay Thai! His opponents were super courageous to go fight such a Beast!

Kickboxing was brought to the Netherlands in the 70's I believe from Japan and made it their own style. A gym was opened in Amsterdam after a few Dutch fighters returned from Japan.
