Fun theory,Coleman. Though I think that the Broken Capsule lead staight to the Central Computer,but was destroyed in-universe to prevent X from going straight to the Final Area. Why? Because Sigma needed time to prepare Zero/Fake Zero.
I was replaying X2 recently and thought the same thing! I think that could of been more clear if the final stage was highlighted as central computer on the map. it would make sense to rig that one to slow down X and trick him to do the oh so necessary boss refights to extend his playti- err, distract him long enough
It's weird because (based on a translation I saw), Sigma directly tells X to meet him at the Central Computer, so it's hard to tell if it was supposed to be a secret or not.
What if the broken Capsule was where the Zero was stored. If you save Zero, Sigma uses it make Fake Zero, but rushes as X gets too close breaking the capsule. Don't save Zero, it's borken because Sigma couldn't finish reprogramming Zero to be loyal, which is why he turns back to normal after a short fight.
But in Mega Man Xtreme 2, after collecting a lot of dna souls, you can unlock a boss rush that takes place in the X-hunter stage 4 and the broken capsule has the Xtreme 1 bosses in the same capsule that fake Zero would be in
@@ColeFamduring normal gameplay it is destroyed but after clearing Xtreme mode and unlocking the Boss rush, it is restored in that mode. Boss rush starts you in the beginning of this stage and the normal capsule to the right takes you to the xtreme 2 bosses. The restored capsule on the left takes you to the xtreme 1 bosses

Wait, Fake Zero made it to Xover and mobile X2 but not the mobile game we actually got? They even made separate characters for chibi and S class hunter versions of X and Zero! Why is Fake Zero where the line is drawn?
When I was younger I was part of an email-based fan fiction project called Maverick Hunter: The Technology Wars where a group of writers would form a 'squad' and go on missions together. These missions played out over squad members each contributing an email to the story. We all had to create our own characters, and given my undying love for Zero I decided I need to create a character as similar to him as I possibly could. After thinking long and hard on this I decided to adopt Fake Zero as my character and create a backstory for him. I ended up naming him 'Cipher' and he was rebuilt by Dr. Cain in secret following the events of X2. Cipher ended up later joining the Maverick Hunters, and it made for a very interesting dynamic as he had to fight alongside Zero. This lead to some very interesting stories as Zero was convinced that Cipher could not be trusted and Cipher both resented Zero for almost destroying him but also envied him because he always aspired to be his equal and one day surpass him. Just thought I'd share because stumbling across this video brought back from fun fanfic memories
Just finished the Game ( again ) this broken capsule is actually bothering me i think in the X-Treme Game it Lets you fight you the X1 bosses can someone make a mod that Lets you choose X1 or X2 bosses in this Stage , this Stage is just in Game i guess buying time and in the end it explodes so can someone repair the capsule and mod ? They Even have weaknesses of weapons you get in X2
I had thought it was the portal marker of the X-hunters base from the previous areas, but it was on its last legs as the destruction of Agile followed you through. Or it destabilized or something like that. And besides, if central computer stage was the home base, then there must've been other areas in the compound where stuff was hidden that wasn't accessible previously when you came through and went after Magna Centipede. These may be coincidence but there's some points of parallel Terminator Genisys has specific to X2, and especially regarding magna centipede. Just some small things I noticed. (If anyone cares).

Haha, a fun theory - whether it was used to contain Zero or Fake Zero, the capsule was used for something for sure! Maybe even the original development of Sigma's new body (despite him being a tol boi.) My original theory was that it was used to stop X from reaching Sigma as quickly as possible, so X would have to be diverted to the resurrected Mavericks and give Sigma as much time to have Zero/Fake Zero at the ready.
If you hadn't noticed the capsule is swapped pending on if you obtain Zero's parts or not. And both capsules are useable in Megaman Xtream 2 as a special boss rush option. My theory is one held fake zero and the other held the real zero. I also theories that the 8mavericks in X2 have something to do with the creation of the Zsaber
I've always just written off the destroyed capsule as an unsolved mystery and somehow never considered its potential relation to Fake Zero. I would like to assume that the Capsule exists in the bad ending because Zero himself were stored there during the resurrection process and broke out. Either way, I think it's pretty likely that Capcom put it there to foreshadow and build up tension towards facing the creature that broke out regardless if it were originally intended to be the real Zero or a fake.
Fun thing is that Yoshihisa Tsuda, the planner of Megaman X2 referred the broken capsule in his X account , but unfortunately he also said “Sorry, but I can’t remember why did we put that capsule back then.”. So nobody can figure the truth….

The capsule is a teleportation chamber not a hybernation one. My theory: Serges made Fake Zero in a hidden lab he doesnt want Sigma to know about. Fake Zero was probably ordered to destroy the teleportation capsule to avoid location of said lab and probably other labs. One of which where Isoc is being built to house the conciousness of Wily.
That was what I was thinking concerning the broken capsule around my third play through of the game a couple days after it’s release. It makes the most sense on why it was there.

My theory is that it originally lead to x-kai who was supposed to be in x2 as the leader of the x hunters or counter hunters, but was cut due to time and deciding he wasn’t worth it. You had to beat x kai in order to unlock the boss refights or after the boss refights take the left teleporter.
There were originally supposed to be four X-Hunters, but the fourth was an unseen female Maverick that was cut due to space limitations. She was cut along with Violen's second form. X-kai- wasn't a concept until around 2015 when the design and story was created for his toy. But now that we live in the future, I'd love to see a ROM Hack that adds in X-kai-. That'd be pretty fun and his fight in DiVE is neat.
You know, Fake Zero being stored in the broken capsule makes some sense, but it does force me to revisit some questions I have about X2's story. Why is it that the X-Hunters, who have Zero's parts, would take said parts when battling X in the field? To mock him? As a display of honor after taunting him into action? If the goal was to have Zero be Sigma's pawn and make him fight X, it would make much more sense for them to keep them at their secret North Pole base with Sigma. From this , it seems more like they don't particularly care about losing him. After all, they do have the blueprints and could very well build their own Zero. And how is it that they have these blueprints, and why do they still have them? Were they based on the parts that they stole from Sigma's Fortress in X1, or were they designed from memory by Serges? If you say that they could just build their own Zero - to be a mindless slave, as they did not have his control chip - then why would they have to scramble to build a new Zero after they lost the red one? Do you think it's possible that... they had *always* intended to make their own Zero? Not only that, but that they would make their own army of Zeroes? The broken capsule can very well be where they kept Fake Zero, but in that you open the question of how many Zeroes they had made, and when the Fake Zero that Sigma pits against X was made. It could be a prototype, the first in a series of mass-produced war machines, ones they were so confident in that they were willing to play keep-away with Zero's parts with X. After all, if they more "Zeroes at home," why would they care if they lost one? At the very least, I can see the X-Hunters producing at least one guard dog Zero model just in case the "final" Zero who X recovers was finished, one that they'd let loose so that they could have some hope of defending themselves in their hideout if they failed in stopping X.
Honestly, the entirety of X2's story kinda makes... Zero sense (eh, get it?) It doesn't make a lot of sense for the X hunters to make their own zero, because knowing Wily, he'd never even attempt to create a copy of his greatest creation because he wouldn't want to make it seem like Zero wasn't perfect. Not to mention, if they could just make their own Zero, why didn't they do that in X5? Why go through all the trouble to crash the Eurasia into earth that may or may not succeed into Awakening Zero's true persona when they could just build another Zero? Sigma was in contact with wily in X5, if he was willing to build a copy in X2 why wouldn't he do the same in X5? Not to mention their whole "let's challenge X to a fight and if he wins, we'll hand him the parts to rebuild Zero" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard, you're telling me, that Dr Wily himself would risk potentially losing the only chance he has to rebuild Zero as originally intended just because he wants to try to kill X? He could've done that anyway, or at least he could've just... Not given him the damn parts. The thing that makes even less sense, is that if you don't collect the parts, when they rebuild Zero, he's not awakened, he's just a mindless pawn. Why would Wily not take the chance to finally complete him? I can excuse this because you can make the argument that Wily was destroyed by X before being able to finish Zero, which is still somewhat dumb, but I can accept it, it would show just how desperate Wily was to destroy X himself, what I cannot accept, is that after you beat the real Zero he just suddenly snaps back to his original persona, like nothing ever happened? I thought the whole reason we went after the X hunters was to prevent Zero from becoming a Mindless pawn. You're telling me that wily, in his infinite wisdom, brought back Zero's original persona, and then tried to overwrite it with the Mindless persona? Why would he ever bring in Zero's regular persona back inside him when he KNOWS that it was exactly what prevented Zero from becoming perfect, the fact that he had his own mind that conflicted with the Virus trying to take him over which caused him to not function properly, which in turn caused wily to not have enough time to fix him before he died. He knew that, and he still brought his regular persona back, when he could've programmed a new one entirely, and leave it up to Sigma to awaken him using the virus. I Love X2, it's my favourite Megaman game ever made, but goddamn does the story make no sense.
@thefollower2933 The real world reason was probably because Awakened wasn't a written idea yet, but yeah, in-story, that's a missed opportunity...maybe they didn't have enough Virus Energy? Like, maybe this was where Sigma got the idea in the first place? But giving the parts back really makes no sense, but it works for a game, I guess. A friend of mine had the idea that Sigma should have used Zero's body as his own body. That would have made the story a lot more dynamic and give you a moral dilemma.
@@ColeFam Honestly, the idea your friend had, is actually kind of fantastic and would've made a lot more sense as the plot of the game, since Sigma at this point has basically become the New "Avatar" of the virus since it has basically completely merged with his DNA Soul, it would make total sense for the virus to try to force itself back inside Zero's body, since he, unlike Sigma, was literally made to work with the Virus, it literally makes him almost unstoppable. The Plot should've been about retrieving Zero's parts to prevent Sigma from forcing himself inside of the body, and if you didn't collect these parts you should either A. Be forced to destroy Zero once again before Sigma transfers his soul inside of him or B. Straight up have an impossible Final boss and just have a bad ending where you lose. That honestly would've made X2's story so much better. Kind of makes me wonder why they never tried to have a story like this.
I feel like attacking X early with a copy (ghost) of his friend would have done a lot more damage than having him on standby, but I'm not the mad genius here, Serges is. I suppose that's possible. My main sticking point is how Fake Zero just falls apart against a light breeze. Looks cool, though.
Hrrrm, ya know, Protoform from Z2 looks alot like Fake Zero, almost like Z2 zero is a copy or something....psssh the Zero that can preform a triple slash? Fake? No way 😂 (about the same amount of health too)

When the game was originally in production, there was supposed to be a fourth X-Hunter that was female. 20-ish years later, X-Kai's toy released and included a backstory for him, basically slotting him into the role of the leader of the X-Hunters. That story was later used in DiVE as an event.
The original version of the game also had a 4th X Hunter that was a dark copy of X. But they couldn’t fit that into the game from a technical perspective I think. Maybe that was the original evil X battle?
Hate to be the 'um, actually' guy, but the original plan, according to art books, was for the fourth X-Hunter to be a female Reploid with no stated design. That backstory was reused years later for the X-kai- toy, making him the new leader of the X-Hunters or something. Something like that. Either way, I like the idea of a fourth X-Hunter holding Zero's most important part, his hair.
By the way, ColeFam... Lately, I've been seeing a couple of references popping up in regards to classic Zero having a "gold" re-color to his armor in addition to the "Black", "Fake", and "Nightmare" versions... I have never found any kind of in-game references to this. I wonder if you or Twitch might know something about it maybe from Manga or other sources? As far as I know, the only time Zero ever had gold/yellow coloring would have been in the Mega Man Zero series with the Energy Form (Z2), Thunder Chip (Z3), or one of the defense-enhancing Body chips (Z4)... So I wonder, was Gold Zero in Classic Mega Man X just a hoax that someone came up with? Or was such an upgrade/re-color ever actually planned and scrapped at Capcom?
I think why the fake zero capsule is still there mabye he was built before he gave the trio sargas voilin agle the part for a back plan just in case he got the parts

But Even Zero's line of only having one Zero is meaning he's the strongest Zero, the most original. Wily's Best Prodigal Son. That was what I was thinking concerning the broken capsule around my third play through of the game a couple days after it’s release. It makes the most sense on why it was there.

My theory is that it originally lead to x-kai who was supposed to be in x2 as the leader of the x hunters or counter hunters, but was cut due to time and deciding he wasn’t worth it. You had to beat x kai in order to unlock the boss refights or after the boss refights take the left teleporter.
There were originally supposed to be four X-Hunters, but the fourth was an unseen female Maverick that was cut due to space limitations. She was cut along with Violen's second form. X-kai- wasn't a concept until around 2015 when the design and story was created for his toy.
But now that we live in the future, I'd love to see a ROM Hack that adds in X-kai-. That'd be pretty fun and his fight in DiVE is neat.
You know, Fake Zero being stored in the broken capsule makes some sense, but it does force me to revisit some questions I have about X2's story. Why is it that the X-Hunters, who have Zero's parts, would take said parts when battling X in the field? To mock him? As a display of honor after taunting him into action? If the goal was to have Zero be Sigma's pawn and make him fight X, it would make much more sense for them to keep them at their secret North Pole base with Sigma. From this , it seems more like they don't particularly care about losing him. After all, they do have the blueprints and could very well build their own Zero. And how is it that they have these blueprints, and why do they still have them? Were they based on the parts that they stole from Sigma's Fortress in X1, or were they designed from memory by Serges? If you say that they could just build their own Zero - to be a mindless slave, as they did not have his control chip - then why would they have to scramble to build a new Zero after they lost the red one? Do you think it's possible that... they had *always* intended to make their own Zero? Not only that, but that they would make their own army of Zeroes?
The broken capsule can very well be where they kept Fake Zero, but in that you open the question of how many Zeroes they had made, and when the Fake Zero that Sigma pits against X was made. It could be a prototype, the first in a series of mass-produced war machines, ones they were so confident in that they were willing to play keep-away with Zero's parts with X. After all, if they more "Zeroes at home," why would they care if they lost one? At the very least, I can see the X-Hunters producing at least one guard dog Zero model just in case the "final" Zero who X recovers was finished, one that they'd let loose so that they could have some hope of defending themselves in their hideout if they failed in stopping X.
It feels like their plan was cobbled together at the last minute, but they tried to play it off in a way that made them seem cool and in control.
Honestly, the entirety of X2's story kinda makes... Zero sense (eh, get it?)
It doesn't make a lot of sense for the X hunters to make their own zero, because knowing Wily, he'd never even attempt to create a copy of his greatest creation because he wouldn't want to make it seem like Zero wasn't perfect.
Not to mention, if they could just make their own Zero, why didn't they do that in X5? Why go through all the trouble to crash the Eurasia into earth that may or may not succeed into Awakening Zero's true persona when they could just build another Zero? Sigma was in contact with wily in X5, if he was willing to build a copy in X2 why wouldn't he do the same in X5? Not to mention their whole "let's challenge X to a fight and if he wins, we'll hand him the parts to rebuild Zero" is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard, you're telling me, that Dr Wily himself would risk potentially losing the only chance he has to rebuild Zero as originally intended just because he wants to try to kill X? He could've done that anyway, or at least he could've just... Not given him the damn parts. The thing that makes even less sense, is that if you don't collect the parts, when they rebuild Zero, he's not awakened, he's just a mindless pawn. Why would Wily not take the chance to finally complete him? I can excuse this because you can make the argument that Wily was destroyed by X before being able to finish Zero, which is still somewhat dumb, but I can accept it, it would show just how desperate Wily was to destroy X himself, what I cannot accept, is that after you beat the real Zero he just suddenly snaps back to his original persona, like nothing ever happened? I thought the whole reason we went after the X hunters was to prevent Zero from becoming a Mindless pawn. You're telling me that wily, in his infinite wisdom, brought back Zero's original persona, and then tried to overwrite it with the Mindless persona? Why would he ever bring in Zero's regular persona back inside him when he KNOWS that it was exactly what prevented Zero from becoming perfect, the fact that he had his own mind that conflicted with the Virus trying to take him over which caused him to not function properly, which in turn caused wily to not have enough time to fix him before he died. He knew that, and he still brought his regular persona back, when he could've programmed a new one entirely, and leave it up to Sigma to awaken him using the virus.
I Love X2, it's my favourite Megaman game ever made, but goddamn does the story make no sense.
@thefollower2933 The real world reason was probably because Awakened wasn't a written idea yet, but yeah, in-story, that's a missed opportunity...maybe they didn't have enough Virus Energy? Like, maybe this was where Sigma got the idea in the first place? But giving the parts back really makes no sense, but it works for a game, I guess.
A friend of mine had the idea that Sigma should have used Zero's body as his own body. That would have made the story a lot more dynamic and give you a moral dilemma.
@@ColeFam Honestly, the idea your friend had, is actually kind of fantastic and would've made a lot more sense as the plot of the game, since Sigma at this point has basically become the New "Avatar" of the virus since it has basically completely merged with his DNA Soul, it would make total sense for the virus to try to force itself back inside Zero's body, since he, unlike Sigma, was literally made to work with the Virus, it literally makes him almost unstoppable. The Plot should've been about retrieving Zero's parts to prevent Sigma from forcing himself inside of the body, and if you didn't collect these parts you should either A. Be forced to destroy Zero once again before Sigma transfers his soul inside of him or B. Straight up have an impossible Final boss and just have a bad ending where you lose.
That honestly would've made X2's story so much better. Kind of makes me wonder why they never tried to have a story like this.
actually i was thinking fake zero was already made in advance by serges. as a backup just in case x DID find zeros missing parts.
I feel like attacking X early with a copy (ghost) of his friend would have done a lot more damage than having him on standby, but I'm not the mad genius here, Serges is.
I suppose that's possible. My main sticking point is how Fake Zero just falls apart against a light breeze. Looks cool, though.
Hrrrm, ya know, Protoform from Z2 looks alot like Fake Zero, almost like Z2 zero is a copy or something....psssh the Zero that can preform a triple slash? Fake? No way 😂 (about the same amount of health too)

When the game was originally in production, there was supposed to be a fourth X-Hunter that was female. 20-ish years later, X-Kai's toy released and included a backstory for him, basically slotting him into the role of the leader of the X-Hunters. That story was later used in DiVE as an event.
Fake Zero´s only purpose in life was to bust up that capsule, maybe it teleported to the fake zero factory or Sigma´s virus development room.

The original version of the game also had a 4th X Hunter that was a dark copy of X. But they couldn’t fit that into the game from a technical perspective I think. Maybe that was the original evil X battle?
Hate to be the 'um, actually' guy, but the original plan, according to art books, was for the fourth X-Hunter to be a female Reploid with no stated design. That backstory was reused years later for the X-kai- toy, making him the new leader of the X-Hunters or something.
Something like that. Either way, I like the idea of a fourth X-Hunter holding Zero's most important part, his hair.

By the way, ColeFam... Lately, I've been seeing a couple of references popping up in regards to classic Zero having a "gold" re-color to his armor in addition to the "Black", "Fake", and "Nightmare" versions... I have never found any kind of in-game references to this. I wonder if you or Twitch might know something about it maybe from Manga or other sources? As far as I know, the only time Zero ever had gold/yellow coloring would have been in the Mega Man Zero series with the Energy Form (Z2), Thunder Chip (Z3), or one of the defense-enhancing Body chips (Z4)... So I wonder, was Gold Zero in Classic Mega Man X just a hoax that someone came up with? Or was such an upgrade/re-color ever actually planned and scrapped at Capcom?
Alternately, could it be reference to a known ROM hack, or fan-made project?
@bardinblue9830 I've only ever seen fan-made projects with a gold Zero. One really old fansite and more recently a ROM hack hack.

Once again, Technically, The others are all Zero In different Forms. XD All Except Fake Zero, and Giro, Who is just using Zero's Power. Omega Is even Zero's Real Body. But Even Zero's line of only having one Zero is meaning he's the strongest Zero, the most original. Wily's Best Prodigal Son. XD I'm honestly pretty sure Wily didn't even mean for Zero to be Used against X, just for Classic Mega Man.
