V-Ray 6 | How to QUICKLY IMPROVE old scenes
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 14 июл 2024
- V-Ray 6 comes with some great new features to quickly improve scenes that were set up using earlier versions such as V-Ray 5, NEXT or even older versions. In this video we will discover 3 new features in V-Ray 6 that help you to take older existing scenes and improve them in a very short amount of time. We will check out following new features:
- Clouds: We will use the new option to add procedural clouds to the V-Ray Sun and Sky System to generate more believable skies
- Chaos Scatter: We will add interesting and lush vegetation using the newly integrated Chaos Scatter plugin
- EnMesh: We will use the new Enmesh modifier to add some additional objects without the need of complex modelling
I am using 3ds Max and V-Ray 6 in this demo and you would require the same version in order to follow this tutorial step by step.
Chapters:
00:00 - Introduction
00:47 - Step 1: Clouds
05:20 - Step 2: Chaos Scatter
13:03 - Step 3: Enmesh
16:51 - Final Result

Glad to see that Chaos sponsored this. Hopefully they will sponsor more videos in the future!
Congratulations on getting the sponsorship! Your hard work got the well-deserved appreciation at last, here's hoping that partnership continues!
Nicely done example of using these great new features in vray 6 👍
Chaos sponsored! I'm really glad to see that :) And I'm not surprized, that they spotted you, your videos is really stand out. Congrats!
p.s. still amazed how this clouds works, like a magic.
Yeah I’m quite surprised by the instant rendering time. Every time I tried to do some clouds using other methods it was basically unusable.
Nice Video! like the Ocean Mat it's so vibrant.
Good short explanation!
Thank you. 😁
Love your videos, very informative.
Great stuff Jonas! :)
Awesome!!!
To the point. Thanks man!
Pretty nice, keep it up !
Slick!
REQUEST: How to make "RAIN-SOAKED SCENE" in 3Ds Max
-(in Lumion this is a super easy effect)
Hi Jonas, please make a Vray Camera Lens tutorial, explaining the relationship of 1-Field of View, 2-Film Gate and 3-Focal Length
-in a technical and proper way
Thank you for all tutorials, they are really useful! I am really curious about how did you make water look this nice, and that shallow part so vibrant. Can you tell us a bit more about lighting and material you used to create this effect?
I will probably make a tutorial about thisl, so just keep an eye on this channel
@@JonasNoell +1 from me, I also wonder how do you make your water look so good
Can u do the ocean material and ocean toutiral with ships
It will helps to make a project for me
Yup, will add it on my list.
@@JonasNoell hope you do fast waiting for your upload ❤️
Woww
👍👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤
Hello. Your videos are great, the info and the pace are perfect.
What is the best way to create that island. I mean rocks and mountains.
Thank you.
You can use Quixel Megascans for that. I have a tutorial in my channel where you can find all the necessary information about how to set this up! 👍
@@JonasNoell thank you. That is so kind of you. Cheers 🍻
Hey :) Thanks a lot for your videos! Can you maybe make another video about the finite dome or do you have any advice on how to use it if you have floor lines or infinitely long roads, etc.? I´m really having a hard time setting it up with my car renderings...In one of my scenes I´m using the "Derelict Highway Noon" from polyhaven. That´s one example for such an infinite road but I can´t set it up properly. Either the sides are stretched or the proportions look incorrect. I would´ve linked the HDRI but youtube keeps blocking my comments if I insert a link in the comment :/
Thanks a lot again! :)
You won't be able to get a 100% correct result because the spherical HDRI only looks correct from 1 point in space (where it was captured). The finite dome allows to project the HDRI on a very simplified geometry which improves on a lot of problems compared to the classical implementation. However if you have for example a distincive pattern, or lines, etc. on the floor it will be hard because you will always notice that those will become curved or angled due to the projection at one point. If you need a perfect result (that works only from one angle though) then use backplates. Or build custom projections by mapping everything on custom geometry that you build (timeconsuming and often times not possible if you have complicated vegetation and so on). The finite dome is an easy accessible tradeoff that will be never be perfect but often times good enough, depending on what you are trying to achieve :-)
@@JonasNoell Thanks so much for your answer! I first thought that this new finite dome method might be a full replacement for the "old" way to render cars but your explanation totally makes sense now that I think about it!
Liebe Grüße :-)
Thanks for another video! Do you know how to get fully clowdy sky?
You can set the density to the max value of 1 for the most amount of clouds.
I like the new Clouds feature - but i think i'm not going to use it soon. The Clouds always looking way to dark ( = rainy ) at the bottomside. Hope Chaos will fix this
Additional settings would be welcome, like to adjust the cloud contrast or some way to tint them
@@JonasNoell It's such a good feature we can only hope it'll get constant improvements and more options further down the line!
How are you getting such a strong vignette like transition in the sky of brightness where the sun is to dark blue in the upper right corner further from the sun. I've been messing around with this and can't get the same effect. Do you have a curves adjustment or LUT applied in the frame buffer? I've seen this same effect in some of your other videos.
Yeah LUT is applied and also you can apply a color correction to the sky and play with the gamma or intensities.
Hi Jonas, please do make a video explaining "Proper Way of changing Vray Cosmos Path / Folder Location"
-because changing its folder location with the already-downloaded assets, tends to give an asset error on the scene - it's not showing properly or asset becomes box only
I think you should post those kind of problems in the Chaos forums to get someone from their team to look into your problems
I recently watched ACES related videos in VRAY. I have a question. After ACES is applied correctly, how can I correctly use LUTS in Vray? Which linear, srgb, log? in the lut layer should I choose? Or go to Davinci or use LUTS in PS? Can you give me a solution or make a video. . thanks.
You normally would just use the ICIO profile and not use any additional luts. If you don't use ICIO and insist on using a LUT then I guess it should be for linear.
Cant wait for the Maya version!
where can I find a tutorial for making this sea material?
I'm working on it, so subscribe to not miss it!
Hi Jonas, can please tell us of your Computer Specs? (PROCESSOR | RAM | VIDEO CARD)
thanks
I did so many times before: Threadripper 3990x, RTX 3060TI, 64GB
@@JonasNoell WOW! that's so amazing! That's why your viewport seems not updating at all - but actually updating in milliseconds because of the Monster Specs that you have... I'm jealous hahaha
nice tutorial....
Could it be possible to purchase/download this scene?
I have very similar scenes on my Patreon. This scene in particular is not available on Patreon as it was a sponsored video
Did you do postproduction after render
Only in VFB
@@JonasNoell what format did you save final output jpeg or png
Normally exr
@@JonasNoell but after save in exr format vfb color correction is not matching
@@Team_rk288 There are some vfb elements such as luts where you have to enable that the adjustments are saved into the image. Or the colors are not matching because your device or software tries to apply an automatic display correction because it assumes that the exr would need it to display correctly
did u used a LUT in this scene ?
I always use LUTs or FilmicTonemaps
@@JonasNoell what was the name the LUT ?
hello sir can you give us that scene?
Guess I no longer need Forest Pack Pro.
Depends on how complicated scatters you require :-)
u from which country bro
Germany
@@JonasNoell Germany is there any chance for work😁
