Some great points made here by Martin Seager who is a true expert on male psychology e.g. a very nice synopsis of gamma bias: It's when "you minimise the good points about masculinty and magnify the bad points, and with females you magnify the good and minimise the bad".

watched the whole video on twitter. Very useful for my daughter who is studying psychology (no men's issues ever mentioned on her course materials).

@@garryclarkson9084 It's incredible that there is so far only one undergrad male psychology module in the world, which is an optional module on the Uni of Sunderland BSc Psychology course. Gamma bias is real.

Yes, I've started to realise this simple theory is the necessary gateway to understanding why we are so confused, and it makes sense from an evolutionary perspective

Just to add, the message given to men that they should talk about their feelings more is unhelpful when women aren't prepared to listen. Sometimes the same woman will say this but recoil when the man acts on this advice. Other times, women will say things like "I'm not your therapist" or "Why should I perform this emotional labour for you?". Or worse, women may listen and pretend to care, only to lose attraction over him showing weakness and vulnerability. Later, in an argument, she uses it as ammunition against him.
A lot needs to change in society. There are a lot of good people, so blaming entire genders or other demographics is ridiculous and counterproductive. Instead, messaging should target the problematic behaviour and give better alternatives without putting people on the defensive, which all but guarantees they shut off and refuse to listen.
