      @@RestoreTechnique Is the screen and housing really OEM? I thought apple don't sell third party parts to anyone but authorized repair centres.

    • @RestoreTechnique
      @RestoreTechnique  3 года назад

      @@armza9975 OEM doesn't mean it's direct from Apple. It means that it's from one of the factories that make Apple's parts (like Foxconn). OR it's made in a 3rd party factory and made to OEM standards. It is a bit of a grey area though, and dealing with misleading Chinese suppliers means sometimes you get lower quality parts than what's advertised.

    • @armza9975
      @armza9975 3 года назад

      @@RestoreTechnique Thanks for that information, the fact that you had to file the lightning port to make it fit just shows that maybe the quality control of these third party parts are not that great. I'm looking to do a restoration of my XR so I think I'll pay the extra to get the genuine parts.

    • @RestoreTechnique

      It appears to just be a grounding wire, to ground the wireless charger / NFC to the housing. Maybe the NFC antenna is less powerful now that wire is broken, I'm not sure though.
