This is the most professional video period. Meaning that you explain every part and disassembled everything..definitely enjoyed this 👍🏻💯
Thanks bro 😀👊
One of the best detailed videos I've seen on the XR, very clear instructions nothing is missed, you even done the button's 💯🔥👍Many Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial i see a broken iphone xr for sale and i bought it and thanks to you i fixed it
When you were heating up the adhesive, I thought my PS4 turned on lol. Great vid.
Very detailed video, excellent content bro, try to post more videos, I was missing
Fantastic video! Calm, clean and the stop motion parts added so much to it! Subscribed!!
Thanks so much 😄
Thanks! I'm repairing 2 iPhone XR's with bad screens and this video helped me alot
u need more subs bro great job, this video was soo smooth
You are like the ASMR version of Hugh Jeffreys
Fact.
@@bluestranger8246 idk man I like huge Jeffery’s a lot
Nice work! :)
Thanks :)
the xr is a great iphone to work on
I love restoration video
I really enjoy your teardown video ^ ^
thanks and subscribe!
hi bro do you really need that sticker that you put on the part at 10:39 of the video
If you want the port to be water resistant, then yes. Otherwise no.
okay thank you for the help @@RestoreTechnique
How many degrees have you set the hot air dryer to?, and nice viedeo man
My heatgun doesn't have a degrees temperature setting. I just try to keep it under 70°C.
Thanks 🙂
So satisfying
Cool, cheers :)
Good work❤
hey Josh, what about that L2 causing stick drift issue??? What is needed to fix it???
Well done👏👏
Thanks 😀
Great video! Best I have seen such great detail! Question - where did you acquire an OEM LCD/screen replacement? And what details did you look for when doing so. Thank you!!
Actually just found your links. Disregard my question and thanks for the great vid! subscribed
@@ephramtherabbit No worries, Cheers!
@@RestoreTechnique Is the screen and housing really OEM? I thought apple don't sell third party parts to anyone but authorized repair centres.
@@armza9975 OEM doesn't mean it's direct from Apple. It means that it's from one of the factories that make Apple's parts (like Foxconn). OR it's made in a 3rd party factory and made to OEM standards. It is a bit of a grey area though, and dealing with misleading Chinese suppliers means sometimes you get lower quality parts than what's advertised.
@@RestoreTechnique Thanks for that information, the fact that you had to file the lightning port to make it fit just shows that maybe the quality control of these third party parts are not that great. I'm looking to do a restoration of my XR so I think I'll pay the extra to get the genuine parts.
I’ve never heard the word ‘cactus’ used to mean busted - is this an Australian thing? Can it be used for anything broken?
I'm not sure if it's an Australian phrase, I assumed it was an international term.
Yes, can be used for anything broken.
Edit: Yeah it's an Australian term 😄
@@RestoreTechnique thanks ‘heaps’ for replying - and for teaching me a new fun slang word 🙂
Another awesome video. Quality as usual, and something for both tech and ASMR fans.
Great work
Wonder if you programmed the new screen to get the True Tone ?
Can i use Y 0.8 for those 0.6 screws on motherboard?
Asking cause lot of sets with screwdrivers comes without Y000 ( 0.6 )....
I haven't tried, but probably. I've used 1 size bigger with plenty of Philips head screws before.
Does anybody know what the small cable going towards the side of the phone is connected to the wireless nfc charging pad. I ripped it at work today and it charges and has nfc still?
It appears to just be a grounding wire, to ground the wireless charger / NFC to the housing. Maybe the NFC antenna is less powerful now that wire is broken, I'm not sure though.

What kind of tape do you use at 10:40?
I don't know exactly, it's from my bag of miscellaneous adhesives, which includes a lot of LCD and rear glass adhesive stencils for different phones. This one is a foam type adhesive which matched the existing adhesive.
the best video...
Another excellent tear down. Struggling to get my pentalobe screws out on this without removing the Taptic Engine and loud speaker. Screw heads worn out and won’t turn. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 👍
Hi, thankyou. Watch my iPhone xs max restoration, where I have stripped pentalobe screws. I did need to remove the taptic engine and loudspeaker though.
Very nice well done.
Cheers 😀
What kind of adhesive do you use to replace the ones like on the charging port?
hi josh, what did you study to learn all of this admirable work ?
Hi, I didn't study anything academically that relates to this. Just a passion, a hobby that has evolved. Self taught and RUclips. :)
@@RestoreTechnique Wao, thank you so much.
What is the long metal piece that is taken off @ 4:45? It’s right before the stand off screws. That piece is not listed on the screen at the time of removal.
i was about to comment the same thing! did u find out?
That’s the Wi-Fi antenna
I’m a electronic repair technician
Does the iPhone update after being put together?
Another question at 11:04 is it necessary to attach the staples to the part
Yes It is, for the buttons to have the same press feeling. I didn't show me putting them back on.
but can the phone still work without them on @@RestoreTechnique
What’s the brown circle thing in the back
That's the wireless charging coil/antenna
And is the thing connected to the wireless charger adapter the silver thing important 8:37
Or can you work around it
Yes, if you want to safely use wireless charging.
@@RestoreTechnique but the problem i have is i cant get it out
Please could you provide me the links to buy the stickers, red phone case, quality screen etc. I have one that works but I would like to change everything to a newer case since mine is damaged
Great video. Can I open the iPhone with these keys??
Y 0.6
Philips +1.5
Philips +2.0
Philips -2.0
May I know where were you able to buy the replacement housing?
WitRigs I believe. But I can't really recommend them, their service is terrible. I thought they closed down, they weren't responding to my emails.
Hey, that’s not fair, you should have use black housing 😢
Автор красава! Годно.
Can you please send the link to the screwdrivers used for the teardown?
The Triwing screwdriver I have the ebay seller listed in the description.
The Philips head I bought in a set from a local hardware store 10yrs ago.
The pentalobe I have gotten heaps of little free ones, as when you buy iphone parts off ebay they often send you a little kit with it. So no links as such.
However these are the screwdrivers I use and recommend now: m.rewa.tech/detail/refox-rs-1-rice-series-2d-screwdriver-kit-for-iphone-repair.html
Do you know a way i can remove a broken screw
Good save
Where can I buy charging port adhesive?
I don't know if you can buy it pre cut. I cut out a rough stencil myself out of some pieces of double sided adhesive.
@@RestoreTechnique anywhere to buy your adhesive thing?
@@bl4cky724 No sorry. Just get an Xacto knife and some double sided adhesive and cut some out.
HOW DID U RETAIN WATER RESISTANCE AND U DIDNT PROVIDED LINK FOR HOUSING
Great work! Thanks
Cheers 😄
13:33 Another reason why I love iphones but HATE apple... $$$$$$
What tape is that at 9:54? is it Kapton tape?
Yes! I tore a bit of the black coating over the wireless charger, so I covered it up with kapton tape so it wouldn't short circuit with something.
if you didn’t accidentally tear it off. would you have still used the tape?
@@armza9975 no, no need
@@RestoreTechnique How would you make it stick without kapton tape in the instance that you didn't tear it off? regular glue?
@@armza9975 Sorry just to clarify, the tape at 9:54 that I used to stick down the wireless charger is a foam based double sided adhesive. The small strip of yellowish tape at 9:57 next to my right index finger, is kapton tape. That is where I tore a little bit of the black graphite cover with my tweezers.
Hey bro can you tell me where i can buy logic boards
No idea
Allways, disconect baterry first!
I usually do, but I thought I was going to tear a ribbon cable if I didn't disconnect the screen first.
Hi bro what are the screws called 1:06 in this
And what is the thing connected to the wireless charger adapter the silver thing 8:37
@@EvolvNationThe screws are called pentalobe.
The little metal thing attached to the wireless charger is just a grounding plate that screws into the frame.
@@RestoreTechniqueso its not important
I almost hit the like button. I didn't because of the "cool" editing that was done to the rebuild. That's cool and all, but it did me no justice on how to put the brackets/latches back on the buttons. thanks anyways.
😢
The mystery part is the vibration 😂
Don’t forget bleue stickers
huh?
Does Face ID working ? You didn’t show it
Nice sir ji
Thanks bro

How much were parts? Not really sure you saving any money here.
I have no idea why I watched this video. I'm not even considering doing this. It was interesting though.

That's a lot of screws
I’m just watching this for fun but Now I wish I bought an empty housing god damn it. I bought mine for $60
