Folk singer Jo Mapes is the vocalist for the "Kellogg's Raising Bran" ad [Daws Butler is "The Sun"]. "The Year of the Tiger" ad corresponded to the Chinese zodiac calendar for 1974.
For the honey comb cereal commercial that lady is my teacher at school. No lie her name is Ms.Vetcher and she works in at elementary school in New Jersey. And she showed us this in class!
Does anyone remember an Apple Jacks commercial were a little boy sits on the floor with his hands on an imaginary car steering wheel and starts to move, like he's driving. When I was a kid I actually thought if I ate my Apple Jacks I would be able to do that too. LOL. It was sometime between 1969-1971.
Super Sugar Crisp is now Golden Crisp at your local supermarket. They still have Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes and Lucky Charms. But I don't know about the status of Honey-Comb however.
Actually... Mr. Tiger was voiced by Thrul Ravenscroft, a voice actor & background singer. (He did back-up vocals on that old song 'This Old House'! I am guessing that part of the confusion comes from the factoid that he sang 'Your a Mean One...' in the 1st Grinch holiday special! Mr. Karloff of course played the Grinch himself!
These cereal commercials uses pathos by telling us if we eat these cereals to start our morning off it will give us nutrients, make us strong, and smart.
Even as a kid I was like "what's balanced about toast, milk and juice?" With all that sugar, dairy and wheat, no wonder America got so fat. No protein, no fruit or veg. Just a big fat morning sugar rush! LOL
General Mills Was Formed and Established and Began and Started and Founded In Jacksonville, Florida U.S.A. Back In 1866 While Nestle Was Formed and Established and Began and Started and Founded In Vevey, Vaud, Switzerland Back In 1866
There was a kid's cereal from the 70's... Like many cereals, it had 2 varieties. To create a sense of rivalry between the 2, each one was championed by a WWI vintage flying ace. (Whom would dogfight one another in the commercials!) Am I the only one on the planet who remembers it??? & does anyone else know the name?

Maybe some day they will start putting these classic old commercials to go use and maybe use them now. Don't really understand why cereal commercials are never reused, after all its still the same cereal. Imagine Coco Puffs using any of its animated commercials from the 70s or 80s in conjunction with retro boxes in store, I think they would sell good. And heck some brands have used retro cereal boxes already this year.
man commercials used to be so great. why can't the be this good nowadays?
Cereal commercials with different styles not just this style
AMEN! Now they are so depressing! All they talk about is sickness & filth
Folk singer Jo Mapes is the vocalist for the "Kellogg's Raising Bran" ad [Daws Butler is "The Sun"]. "The Year of the Tiger" ad corresponded to the Chinese zodiac calendar for 1974.
Thanks for that information, I wondered who sang the Raisin Bran song. I thought it might have been Ronnie Gilbert of The Weavers.
I thought she sounded familiar. I was guessing Judy Collins.
I think Tony The Tiger's voice is the same guy that sings "Your a mean one Mr. Grinch. You really are a heal."
Yes, Thurl Ravenscroft.
epaddon And all these years I thought it was Boris Karloff!
You're*
@@gidzmobug2323 Boris Karloff did the narration and Thurl Ravenscroft sang that song.
Thurl Ravenscroft played Tony for 53 years, never stopped until he died at the age of 95!
..also Tony the Tiger was voiced by Thurl Ravenscroft who sang "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch".
I strongly suspect that's veteran voice actor Alan Oppenheimer (Skeletor from He-Man) as Old Man Winter in the Sugar Crisp commercial.
You're right! I hear it when the character laughs. Good catch!
Fun Fact: Daws Butler was the voice of Sunny in the Kellogg's Raisin Bran ad. 🌞
I remember most of these...Good memories
Best,
Dr. Ryles
For the honey comb cereal commercial that lady is my teacher at school. No lie her name is Ms.Vetcher and she works in at elementary school in New Jersey. And she showed us this in class!
Woah! That's awesome dude!
Joyglo Super cool! I remember that commercial from the late '70s! 👍 😀
God, was she HOT.
Can teachers endorse commercial products? (although she didn't identify herself in the ad)
WOW 👌
The Raison Bran sun sounded like Elroy Jetson. It's obvious he was voiced by Daws Butler.
Hold up, Elroy Jetson was the character from The Jetsons
May God bless you Thurl Ravenscroft, the playing card from Alice.
1:33
I wanted to expect for the sun to say "More RAIN!".
Tony the Tiger! God bless you, Thurl Ravenscroft.
(And I was also totally singing the Honeycomb jingle.)
Lol so was I :-)
Here's to the old days
They changed the title of the video, which originally read "Cereal commercials from the 80s"
The Daws Butler-voiced sun was the best.
I know he was also played as Yogi bear Huckleberry Hound snagglepuss Augie doggie super snooper blabber mouse Elroy Jetson andquick draw McGraw
@@rainstarflowerdroplets9624 Also Cap'n Crunch
Great compilation. Thanks.
The Super Golden Crisp commercial is different from others because the villain becomes a good guy.
Post, Kellogg’s, and General Mills have a pretty good competition.
I was actually a little kid back then I remember watching those commercials
From 1:06 that commercial is adorable
Does anyone remember an Apple Jacks commercial were a little boy sits on the floor with his hands on an imaginary car steering wheel and starts to move, like he's driving. When I was a kid I actually thought if I ate my Apple Jacks I would be able to do that too. LOL. It was sometime between 1969-1971.
Great finds!
I’m 🙂 comments aren’t turned off here!
I remember these commercials as a tot sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons
Super Sugar Crisp is now Golden Crisp at your local supermarket. They still have Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes and Lucky Charms. But I don't know about the status of Honey-Comb however.
Honeycomb is still around as well.
These "balanced breakfast" cereals helped keep dentists in business, and I'm sure they still do. Symbiosis, huh.
I can still sing the Honeycomb commercial. And Don Messick did Boo Boo Bear on Yogi Bear also (thanks for reminding me that he did the RB sun, too),
Actually... Mr. Tiger was voiced by Thrul Ravenscroft, a voice actor & background singer. (He did back-up vocals on that old song 'This Old House'!

O Chenault That's Tony The Tiger, you stupid dumbfucker! Get your facts straight! 😠😠😠😠😠
O Chenault Correction that’s Tony the Tiger you miss pronounce his name But we all make mistakes
DogFather0808 I always assumed that Boris Karloff sung that song. Thanks for the learning experience.
He did the narration of the story.
If you're as tall as Hilda, where's the satisfaction of slam dunking in a hoop that's at eye level?
@Sheri451 The sun was Don Messick who also did Muttley,Elroy and other Hanna Barbera characters.
I can remember the Honeycomb commercial.I can also remember the last Frosted Flakes commercial.
It was from 1974, the year of the tiger. There were several different Frosted Flakes commercials that year.
Thanx Much! Found it! (Knew it had to be out there! Thankyou again!)
Can you post the frosted flakes commercial that goes dun dun dun dun dun frosted flakes. I remember that from a kid. It was my favorite.
Welcome To The Honey Comb Hide Out :-) With Big Matilda! Lol...
Remember These Cereal Commercials!?
Interesting. Thanks
I count 14 raisins ( including the one that disappeared in midair).
"i'm Big Matilda.I'm a big girl and I want a big.......uh never mind kids .
Trailblazing Womyn, that Matilda.
Love it.thx for posting.
I remember most of that honeycomb commercial (the song, kids, etc.) but I don't remember big Matilda. lol
In the seventies it was completely okay for random adults to come up to a children's clubhouse, and bum cereal off of them
These cereal commercials uses pathos by telling us if we eat these cereals to start our morning off it will give us nutrients, make us strong, and smart.
sugar bear sounds like Bing Crosby lol
Actually, more like Dean Martin.
@@luisreyes1963 no he sounds like being someone imitating Bing Crosby and I think he was
The Raisin Bran commercial looks like something I would have seen on "Captain Kangaroo"..
Even as a kid I was like "what's balanced about toast, milk and juice?" With all that sugar, dairy and wheat, no wonder America got so fat. No protein, no fruit or veg. Just a big fat morning sugar rush! LOL
Oh gee, I remember most of these.

Edit: 355 due to 1:18
Correct me if I'm wrong

The Raisin Bran Sun has the same voice as Elroy Jetson
Matilda's a big girl, all right. ;) Way to get the dads watching the commercials.
Coco Puffs is the best.
You heard him. Not just frosted. Not just sweetened. It's lace with Super Sugar. That's right, wholesome goodness that's nutritional and good for you. Shut up and eat it.
Tony the tiger talks like Kirby the vacuum from the brave little toaster
Only in the 70's would boasting that a kids' cereal is "coated with super sugar" somehow be considered a good thing...
I remember the Honeycomb's commercial!
Wow. Lesson learned. Sugar makes everything better. I'm gonna eat a pound bag of C&H right now.
That's Daws Butler ( Elroy Jetson's) voice on the Rasin Bran commercial.
Big Matilda should join the Cavaliers, they need all the help they can get!
@ronson232 and then to say it's "part of a balanced breakfast"!
Tony the Tiger rarely gets mad in a Frosted Flakes commercial.
Come to the Honeycomb Hideout 2:07
I'd offer Big Matilda a big breakfast...
Now, who is watching this in 2017?
Chihiro Fujiwara I do
Howie O Okay? 😕😜
Lunacat 7834 😁 Love the oldies!

All super sugar. Take out the super. ALL SUGAR CRISPS :D
If I'm not mistaken, I believe that's Pam Dawber (Mork & Mindy fame) as big Matilda in the Honeycomb comercial. What da ya think?

Is that Raisin Bran Sun's voice Elroy Jetson? Sounds exactly like him.
Daws Butler
@yardlet6 Oops my bad,it was Daws Butler but Messick did Muttley.
The year of the elephant? How nice.
@MyRenaissance1 You sure about that? I thought Honey Smacks had the frog as the character.
