Getting my pre-order special edition today =) Been waiting so long, 4 was my first and loved it so much, been waiting ever since for another and good thing we got it. Hopefully it sells well so they keep making more. Game has massive potential with a good budget.
One of my favorite aspects of Rune Factory is the crafting. I can spend a long time fiddling with my gear. I am really happy to see such a positive review from SwitchUp after some mixed reviews. I plan on getting this very soon.
Been playing this game for about 10 hours today and there are some parts that I get lag in certain areas but I am playing on switch lite so not sure if it’ll play better on regular switch… Other than that it’s still addicting and I don’t see myself sleeping tonight.. :p
I love this series so much that I bought it regardless of how good it is. I do miss the detail in the 2D games and the pacing is completely different but I'll still probably enjoy it
Fun Fact: This isn't actually the first fully 3d Rune Factory game. We've had Frontier and Tides of Destiny. Although this one seems to be better than the others.
May be for you, may not. If you played harvest moon games and liked them, you'll probably like this. If you didn't particularly care for harvest moon, but might have been more interested if it was more . . . "actiony", you may like RF. Never got to play RF 1 or 2, but I heard good things, I played 3 and it was fantastic, got hooked for over a month after starting my first playthrough, and went back to play again many times until RF 4 came out. Sadly, didn't like RF 4 as much. Hated the character designs of RF 4 soooo much. Everything was disturbingly shiny or pastel and seemed . . . Super-Omega Kawaii, I guess? Can't really think of any other way to describe it, seeing as it's a Japanese game. Either way, couldn't stand to play it for more than thirty minutes, cause the characters and environments literally hurt my head, the dialogue didn't interest me as much as RF 3, and fighting got waaaay more grindy without feeling particularly better than RF 3 (though not feeling worse either.) This one looks like it's going to be a much better offering. Definitely preferring most of the character designs to the previous entry, and I'm interested to see how the gameplay loop feels in full 3D compared to the 2D isometric of the previous games.
Im waiting for the store to open (at noon) to go grab my pre-order! I'm super excited for it. I even took off work today just so I could play as much as I want. 😂
I'm glad you mentioned that "it's a good entry point for new comers" aka "me".lol I said I'm gonna pass any ARPG games for a while but RF5 looks way too fun to pass up
I'm glad to hear that it's a good game. Been looking forward to this for a while and it's been delayed a couple times which always puts a dampener on the hype, but I can't wait to get hold of it.
I've played every rune factory made , I pre ordered this one hoping it would live up to the ones before but I just can't get through to the graphics...the rendering just doesn't feel very grand with the terrain. The graphics from rune factory frontier and rune factory tides of destiny are some of my favorites and that was on the Wii I'd love to see those graphics from those games on rune factory 5 ...and honestly thinking about it the terrain from 5 reminds me of older nintendo terrain from Legend Of Zelda on the 64 but it may just be me .
Wait wait, FIRST 🤩 Rune Factory 5 is such an amazing game! I am so happy they finally revived the series. I can't imagine how much better the games will get from here as they polish the graphics a bit more and bring us new friends and stories to explore 💜
So happy I can play this in the UK soon! Release date was my baby's due date, but he came early so don't need to worry about going into labour and can enjoy the game with my new baby 🤣❤️
I love that you made a review for this, you're my favourite review channel! 😆 I've been so hyped for this game (preordered and waiting for it to arrive) and I'm glad to hear that your gameplay wasn't excessively impacted by the performance issues I heard about. It calms the worried hammering if my excited rune factory fangirl heart 😌😂😂
I have RF4 but I've barely played it. I'm thinking of getting this and playing it due to the 3D graphics. I guess the overall look is what made me interested but I feel your review might have made my decision for me.
Solid review! I'll probably pick this up later down the line (too many good to great games coming out this month! My wallet can't keep up!) I've always enjoyed Rune Factory a fair bit more than other farming games, but mostly due to the combat and RPG elements. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the farming aspects and social/dating bits, but them by themselves with not much else personally leaves me a bit bored after a while
Thank you so much for this review! I've been playing since the first game and have loved them all. The graphics turned me off a little in 5.... but it sounds like a soild installment!
anybody have some more detailed info/feedback about the performance issues? I have read a few comments on other sites that say its UNPLAYABLE in it's current state.
Does anyone know if they fixed the performance issues? Otherwise, maybe I should wait for PS4/PS5 announcement. I assume it will be released on other systems since they did it with RF4 Special.
I've never played Rune Factory before. I impulsively bought the collectors Edition when I saw it on Amazon. I saw a screenshot of the combat and then a the farming. Decided that's all I needed to see to atleast TRY the game. And I liked the aesthetic too. So even If this game sits in my backlog forever, I'm glad I got my copy.
I bought the digital version of the game. Haven't started yet but I'm excited cause i think monsters that you tame can fight together with your character. And that's enough for me to enjoy the game.
Loved Rune Factory 4 and was absolutely addicted to it and then just one day stopped mid game for my dinner, battery on the Switch died and I just went ‘meh’ all of a sudden. Gonna make a film out of it
I respectfully disagree with your opinion regarding the visuals. I believe a polished 2D look would be way better for this series. Action based combat can also be very engaging in 2D, like in the earlier Ys games. But strong video nonetheless :)
I don't think we disagree too much to be honest. I feel that some of the charm has been lost in the Switch to 3D - definitely for the farming side - and feel 2D brings the most out of this side as everything looks so much more lush and vibrant. This is the most I have ever enjoyed the adventuring/combat though which is partly down to the 3D layout but also because I felt that the story moved along a bit quicker which meant I was happy to go down the story route more. Glen
Kind of crazy how this doesn't look THAT much better graphically than Tides Of Destiny. I'm not a graphic snob, but this actually just looks very dated. I'm kind of disappointed about that aspect.
I've never played Rune factory before. Would you recommend starting with 3 remake or 5? I'm almost finished with harvestella and want to play something similar

@@SwitchUpYt did you try switching off the farm camera in the settings?
I turned off the auto assist camera which helped a bit. Is there a farm camera too? If so, I'll give that a try. Glen
@@SwitchUpYt the camera setting is called "Farm Camera". If that's what you were referring too then yeah, that's all there is for the camera!
I’m waiting on my physical pre-order to arrive. This will be my first Rune Factory game.
So happy I can play this in the UK soon! Release date was my baby's due date, but he came early so don't need to worry about going into labour and can enjoy the game with my new baby 🤣❤️
If I was to get one Rune Factory game on Switch, which one should I go for?
I love that you made a review for this, you're my favourite review channel! 😆 I've been so hyped for this game (preordered and waiting for it to arrive) and I'm glad to hear that your gameplay wasn't excessively impacted by the performance issues I heard about. It calms the worried hammering if my excited rune factory fangirl heart 😌😂😂
Thank you. Yeah, the performance issues are there and worse in handheld mode but they didn't impact my enjoyment or make the game harder to play. Glen
Great review, I'll be picking the game up as soon as it's out
I have RF4 but I've barely played it. I'm thinking of getting this and playing it due to the 3D graphics. I guess the overall look is what made me interested but I feel your review might have made my decision for me.
Great review! I have been looking forward to this game.
Love your reviews and content lads. Keep it up!!
Solid review! I'll probably pick this up later down the line (too many good to great games coming out this month! My wallet can't keep up!) I've always enjoyed Rune Factory a fair bit more than other farming games, but mostly due to the combat and RPG elements.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy the farming aspects and social/dating bits, but them by themselves with not much else personally leaves me a bit bored after a while
Lots of people trashing this game, though can always rely on SwitchUp to get it right.
thanks for the review definitely will get a physical of this, has a time at portia vibes that ill really like
Thank you so much for this review!
I love Rune Factory. Stoked on this! Ordered the Earthmate Edition
Muito bom!!! Vou comprar com certeza! Obrigado pela Review SwitchUp
Thank you Glen. I think i will get this. LOVE Story of seseons games 🤗🤗🤗 maaaaan Game backlog is screaming haha
Getting this for my mom (and me after she plays it) and she can't wait
I don't have a switch dock at the moment.
How does it run undocked? And are the battles smooth?
I just ordered this one earlier, now I'm waiting for it to be delivered. Can't wait to play Rune Factory 5 :)
Loved Rune Factory 4 and was absolutely addicted to it and then just one day stopped mid game for my dinner, battery on the Switch died and I just went ‘meh’ all of a sudden.
Gonna make a film out of it
Ty was curious about this one I have the 4th one but going full 3d had me nervous but this looks great ty again guys (gracias)
Thank you!
Glen
Truly I will miss 2d.
Kind of crazy how this doesn't look THAT much better graphically than Tides Of Destiny. I'm not a graphic snob, but this actually just looks very dated. I'm kind of disappointed about that aspect.
@@SwitchUpYt i definitely agree with this the same goes to story of seasons series
Yeah but It really depends on Artstyle.
Their are games in 3D in which their art style can make them look timeless.
Thank you for the fair review! I find other r/v channels didnt give it a proper chance or review
I've never played Rune factory before. Would you recommend starting with 3 remake or 5? I'm almost finished with harvestella and want to play something similar
I think you revived my hype for this game
I'm so happy this game is back, I hope it's successful (and those damn fps drops get patched again)
How do i get 10% off the ecards? I put it in my basket and £50 is still £50
Use code SWITCHUP in the codes bit
I just got my Earthmate Edition earlier today! It’s super fun but kinda runs a little choppy sometimes. I hope it gets some stability updates soon. 😄
It’s been out in Japan for awhile so I don’t think so
@@dustingonzalez8080 nooo!!!! I can only hope!!! I love playing it and I’m getting used to the frame rate, but I won’t let anything stop me from having a blast!
Wished I could customize my guy just a lil like facial hair, these anime games never let us have beards
Cant wait to play this one, loved rune factory 4 and I'm happy to see the jump to full 3d turned out well...cheers guys!
I have never played a run factory game do i need to play the previous games?
I love Rune Factory as well as Story of Seasons/Old school Harvest Moon. I am going for a physical release and enjoy both farming and action. Thanx for the great review 😁
So happy and can't wait to receive my preorder
Should I play rume factory 4 special or rune factory 5?
Ahhh just in time as I approach the final chapter in Triangle Strategy (amazing btw).
Never played one of these before though. Looks interesting.
Just bought it first time playing any rune factory super excited.
Pretty excited for this, always wanted to get into the series, but just didn't have the time. With this one coming out and with positive reviews, think I'll bite the bullet. Probably gotta wait till after Kirby though, putting too much on my Switch again lol
preorder the earthmate which would be my 1st rune factory
however I'm a big fan of the harvest moon series so maybe I'll enjoy this
Never played this series before but I might give this one a try.
Nice new upload
Always been interested in these games. This sounds like a good jumping on point. Was disappointed by stories of season, so hoping this has a bit more to offer
I was going to budt ignore this game since im not that into farming stuff BUT you guys just sold me, eventualy, on getting it, this looks like a very very busy game, lot of thing to do
