Love it. I am guessing that’s tuned down quite a bit? Read some where that Geordie tuned down a whole step to get that heavy bottom end and used heavy strings too. Pretty hard to replicate that tone.
Hey thank you so much. Yes from Fire Dances (1984) on, after he got his ES-295, he tuned a whole step down to D-Standard. That's exactly how I set up my archtops and it does yield a thick, cello-like resonance. I string mine with 12-52 Elixirs, but Geordie used 13 Gauge strings. I played his Golden Lyre once and it felt like it had light strings on it even though it didn't. Expertly set-up my Dave Simpson, Geordie's righthand man for many years.
Just started using them too. Think I might actually prefer the original stealth but the jury is still out! Love me some Geordie btw! Tragic loss! True one of a kind!
I’ve been an Orange Tortex devotee for 30 years or so and I typically play on the side of the pick with those. These Stealths force me to use the tip so I’m adjusting. I used to be in surf-punk bands where staccato picking was nearly all the time and tones were fairly clean - I wish I had these back then! Geordie was indeed a gift to music and a lovely human being. One of my faves of all time. Every time I pick up a guitar his inspiration weighs heavy. X
