They replaced this ride with a rather small looking coaster that’s pretty damn small to fit in!! Didn’t like that ride as much as this one. Never seen another water boat ride this tall at another amusement park as this would’ve set a world record for tallest water boat ride and drop
The lady was 300lbs and the lap bar did not restrain her properly. It happened in late 2001. In 2002 (around the time Xcelerator opened) the park reopened the ride with four point restrains. In 2006, the park gave the ride new boats with OTSRs.
so how did the lady come out? was the pull down restraints on your legs when she fell out? is that the new one? or the over shoulder harnesses are the new one? or she fell out on that? is the light blue cart the new one? When did the lady fall out? (year) cause you got footage of both carts.
Yes, in 2001 a over weight woman fell to her death. The restraints were not designed for some one that was 300lbs. After the accident the park added four point restraints to the seats. Those where apart of the ride until summer of 2006, when the park got two new boats with OTSRs.
@Ryan120420 this is not the steepest water ride. there is one called hydro at oakwood. it is 76 degrees and btw this is 75 degrees. also hydro is 121 ft high with a 118 ft drop
Some people need to really read the weight max limit before riding. HangTime’s trains consist of only lap bars I heard so hopefully there’ll be no severe accidents from that ride as it had happened here before it added restraints
This ride should’ve been kept and right next to HangTime so for even bigger thrills at the BoardWalk. The old boats were heavier and splashed a fairly decent amount of water on the people at the bridge, not so much on the new ones.
wen i was 11 i culdnt go on it cas the buckle strap was too big n it wuldnt go smallr...it was the smallest around my waist...i was sad but i got to watch my frens go on it...n they said it was fun...
It will be, but until its open, Perilous Plunge is the tallest and fastest. And even after Pilgrims Plunge opens, Perilous Plunge will remain the steepest water ride on earth.
Can somebody tell me how tall and fast this water ride goes. Also, can someone tell me where the heck is Knotts berry farm. I feel sorry for that fat lady who died. Falling to her death R.I.P 8*(
... i remember when this ride opened & the water park too.... at the time i worked there, and the employees had the opportunity to 'Test it' before it actually opened for the public.... so after work one day, i got to ride it & was a fun ride overall, but the drop was sooo dam steep, ddnt look safe to me, but i still got on, got so dam soaked, went home driving and made a mess in my car, Lol.... couple days after, a crash test dummie fell out & i never rode on it again....
I’ve been on the ride and I can say this (about any thrill ride): it’s always good to do our part too. Sure, the park is responsible for ‘our safety’ yet it doesn’t stop there. If you’re too tiny or too large where the restraints have either too much ‘play’ or are way too tight then flag an attendant down and perhaps reevaluate if you should ride or not. Note, these rides go nonstop daily 365 days per year because they’re there to generate revenue for the park, city and state. I don’t know the people or person who was killed yet I can imagine the horror and pain the family had to endure; the parks money payout wasn’t the cure (whatever the amount was) yet we can all agree: accidents do happen unfortunately. So sorry for both sides 🙏🏾
man that is old skool knotts. it dont look like that anymore.
They replaced this ride with a rather small looking coaster that’s pretty damn small to fit in!! Didn’t like that ride as much as this one. Never seen another water boat ride this tall at another amusement park as this would’ve set a world record for tallest water boat ride and drop
And “Coast Rider” needs to be renamed because it doesn’t sound original lol
The lady died from her falling forward she was to big for the ride
main reason I wasn't allowed on the ride growing up. not only was she too big, but she faked having her seatbelt attached...
Brings back so many memories😭
They removed that ride because I girl from knotts berry farm died so and then they had to close the ride down
115ft With a 76 degree angle drop at 55mph.
Knotts is located in Buena Park CA.
I still loved this water 💧 ride, when I was 11 years old. And, I already missed this ride.
The lady was 300lbs and the lap bar did not restrain her properly. It happened in late 2001.
In 2002 (around the time Xcelerator opened) the park reopened the ride with four point restrains.
In 2006, the park gave the ride new boats with OTSRs.
I wonder why they changed the boats in the first place. I don’t get it
I miss this ride! Knotts is not the same without these old rides :(
The splash with the new boats is weak
Does the ride do anything else?
awsome footage. great job. havnt been on that in forever.
I like the old boats. ):
Old car definitely makes a bigger splash...
so how did the lady come out?
was the pull down restraints on your legs when she fell out? is that the new one?

I went on that ride, it IS STEEP, but in the end your like "OH YEAH!"
I am genuinely curious as to why the splash was so lame with the new over the shoulder restraints. Like wouldn’t more weight make it bigger?
It was shut down for a month or two in 2006 to install the new boats. It was closed for a couple of months in 2007 for a refurbishment.

ohh dear! does this one open like at 2pm or something like hydro does? i really do think Intamin need to re-think about there spill water attractions!
lady at 1:14-1:16
If its a static sound, that sound is the rushing water from the ride. And youtube compression make it worse.
why did it close for a long time
whats safer? the new or old restraints?
that ride is so fun. awesome. jurassic park is taller though.
The 2008 Boat doesn't create a spalsh as big as the previous ones.
@Ryan120420 actualy i think its more than 90 because it has a dip in the middle.
Does any1 know the music they play in the boardwalk section of knotts, thats were Perlious Plunge, Bomerang, and Xcelerator are at
what are 4 point restaints?
so how did the woman fall out?

they neeed to bring this back1!!!!
how did you film at 6:28
how fast does it go?
wen i was 11 i culdnt go on it cas the buckle strap was too big n it wuldnt go smallr...it was the smallest around my waist...i was sad but i got to watch my frens go on it...n they said it was fun...

oh. yeah i did fall for it. thanks for correcting me. it sure does feel fast. haha thanks.
Nope, people still ride. All of the 2008 footage was shot during the winter. That is why the ride is deserted.
nobody wants to get on it anymore because of the new boats and how they don't make such a big splash
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO . . . . . . . i take my comment back. My bad
Huh
It was on the news back in 2001.
With the old boats, yes. With the new ones, no.
is this the theme park of Full House?
like the lsat 2 years i went i didn't go this year it was always closed down
and i wanted to go on but it was always closed
On slow days they run one boat. But the ride has the capability to run two.
What do you mean?
@AwsomenezTV
Its the soundtrack to the Movie American Graffiti.
@rextony22 nope, jp is 30 feet shorter.
getting stuck on this ride on a hot day is not cool
like it keeps going weird. i think it's just my ocmputer though.
I remember this so well I never went on it becuz I was scared
oh Hydro opens at 1 or 2pm NOT with the rest of the park!
Hydro is not the tallest. Perilous Plunge is Slightly taller and steeper.
And there is no way that Hydro gets up to 88mph from a 115+ft drop.
This one breaks down all the time too.
No, it opens at 10am like the rest of the park.
I only got to ride this once. It was cool.
WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THE AUDIO???
What do you mean.
Can somebody tell me how tall and fast this water ride goes. Also, can someone tell me where the heck is Knotts berry farm.
I feel sorry for that fat lady who died. Falling to her death R.I.P
8*(
thorpe parks tidal wave gives a lot more water than that
... i remember when this ride opened & the water park too.... at the time i worked there, and the employees had the opportunity to 'Test it' before it actually opened for the public.... so after work one day, i got to ride it & was a fun ride overall, but the drop was sooo dam steep, ddnt look safe to me, but i still got on, got so dam soaked, went home driving and made a mess in my car, Lol.... couple days after, a crash test dummie fell out & i never rode on it again....
World's, not Worlds.
so scared
This one looks like it does not break down as much as its sister in oakwood!
Good guess, you are correct.
Yes, I just now updated the title.
115ft at 76 degrees.
@Shad0vvStalk3r it seems like whenever they re tool a ride they somehow manage to screw it up.
also the tallest and fastest water ride
Your point being?
The back is the best on this ride.
76 degrees.
Well that looks like safe seat belts
I did go on it. I just did not film it.
Nope, its just a really big & intense drop and splash.
@deadf1996 lady fell out so they had to get new restraints and boats
I remember this.
@rextony22 Jurassic park is 30 or 35 feet shorter
125 ft tall with a 115ft drop.
Fighter pilot and Go Cart restrains.
Watch the video.
