Hi Fela, I am happy to! The first goal is to always understand what you are going to be studying for 4 years if an undergrad or for 6/7 years for upto the Phd. For example in a nutshell Criminal justice degrees allow students to study and explore topics relating to the various aspects of the criminal justice system. Students pursuing a degree in this field learn about law enforcement, criminal behavior, the American court system, and behavior and psychology. As you can see there is a vast array of options that the degree prepares you for in you were to seek a specialization.
If you pursued this degree on the undergraduate level with a minor in education OR pursued a degree in Education with a Minor in criminal justice and met the content assessment requirements as you searched for Teaching positions, then you could pursue this degree. This is one of the values of a liberal arts education. The transferable skillets across multiple sectors.

@@nekoplanetary4244 I went to school for criminal justice but there are people there that have degrees in other areas or even just a high school diploma. Just go to the courthouse, clerk of court office and fill out an application. The job is usually on the job training.

I just received my Master in Criminology with an emphasis in Homeland Security after 20 yearsin theArmy. Now im retired, finally. What's out there for me and what avenues are available for me to pursue? Could you give me some good advice and guidance.

    • @majortocareer

Hi Larry, congratulations on your retirement! My first indication without speaking to you directly is that you have had amazing experiences and a long career. At first glance, am thinking returning to the workforce at entry level with much younger colleagues may not be as palatable.
That said, have you thought about pursuing a career where you are mentoring or educating others with your vast experiences? At first glance I would suggest looking for those types of roles. You have a master's degree so an thinking working at an ROTC dept. At a college, serving as a college instructor etc....hope that helps shed light on some options...
As always you can schedule a consult for a few and I can look into your case further....
