When you turn star on next go back into the search by vehicle type select the correct chassis type, then once that next page comes up asking for specific stuff just push the button at the bottom of the screen that should auto search it all for you, keep the cool videos coming

If it is the original key on any Mercedes Benz product the easy solution is as follows: Disconnect battery in car, remove battery from key, reinstall key battery, reinstall car battery, lock and unlock door with key(not button) then start car.... This works on all Mercedes

At first I thought you were kidding, but I tried it anyway. Unfortunately, nothing happened when I tried it. I have a new car battery and a new key battery. Could AAA have done something to it when they replaced the battery? Is there some way I could check? I had heard about the ground wire or something like that, but I really don't know what I'm looking for. I asked the man at the garage I've been to in the past, and he was no help. What should I do? I don't have a lot of money to take it to the dealer. Thank you
Successfully progrmed with delphi clone... Tried few times with 2016 version, successfully done with 2015.. Few times got remote working but not starting

Hey there, hopefully you still receieve notifications on this. I just now have a similar problem. Immobilizer is not disengaging, doors opening while using the 'rear entry' though. Keyfob remote does not work at all. I'm not getting a 9x Flash of either the harzards or the brakes, neither the clicking sound. I got my spare key aswell, exact same issue. Now.. it's either the Receiving unit fucking up (due to desync, possibly, though I basically drove half an hour, then got out and locked the car, beeing away barely 5 minutes until the issue) Or BOTH fobs batteries are dead (probably more likely since I've had the issue where my car wouldnt lock properly ONCE and that resolved itself after pressing a few more times.. that was months ago tho) Though I always keep my keys in my front pocket, there's barely a possibility of the keys beeing pressed, let alone 100 times or however many times SAM/whatever pre-calculates codes.. I'll be going to my dealership tomorrow (luckily right around the corner) and get new batteries (all shops were closed at this time) plus maybe will need to get the car towed and keys reprogrammed. Hopefully that'll fix everything.

Yeah, I got it sorted out quite quickly. My main key ran out of battery, the spare aswell. Now I did try around with my main key, that's why it ran out of sync, while I just put new batteries from my trusty 'specialists' into both, and they reprogrammed my main key. I did try manually reprogramming with the different button combinations etc, but none of those worked. (My spare was still in sync, so all it cost me was the reprogramming and 2 new batteries, basically 50 bucks with the minor inconvenience of noticing when shops had already closed and leaving the car with my dealership for an hour the following day.)

My 2004 plate 450 doesn't start sometimes it's really frustrating, the box in the middle dash board is clear when turning the key numerous of times, only after 10-20min or so the car will start displaying Netrurel any ideas on what the issue would be??

@fe9143 I believe one of the causes is like pressing the button when not close to the car... that puts the key out of synchronisation... But could well be other things... 👍👍👍

John Hi That's the "good" 9 times flashing... Surely in your case you were still able to unlock the car and start the engine... In this video is the not so good 9 times flashing, where replace the battery will not resolve the issue... Thank you for watching!

Hello. I have smart roadster 452. I found a locksmith here who have mb star diagnostic. The car I parked in my garage locked for 2 weeks. And when I unlocked the doors the fob not responding. It took the car to locksmith and he is able to unlock the car from the mb star but still the key fob not working. No lock / unlock / trunk button working. Any guess what should I check?

All info will be in the MCU and eeprom... depending on the model... Use any tool capable of reading and writing the particular MCU and/or eeprom... X-prog is a good option...

My smart 450 vibrates everytime i turned on the a/c and when i run it feels okay but when i slow down the car's engine vibrates and i also think that my gear shifts a little bit late than it used to. I also tried running it with the a/c off it runs actually good and fast but still i can feel the shifting is a bit rough and late. Do you think the problem is just the clutch? i already change the spark plugs so i dont really know whats causing it to vibrate
ArvinSan25 Turning the AC on pulls extra load from the engine, but this should increase the idling rpms to compensate... unless something is wrong with your AC pump... is the AC working ok?
Yes ac works fine and its cold. And your right it should increase the rpm but mine dont do that if i dont put gas when turning the ac on my engine shakes and when i let go of the gas the engine shakes. But before all of this happen. I let someone fix the car since the ac of my car sucks when i bought it. Im suspecting the mechanic guy might have change my ac compressor to a bigger one that makes heavier load on engine right? i havent check it though .Our country dont really have a smart dealership and a 600cc cars so he might have change it. So the problem right now is either the ac compressor or ac pump? i really dont know tbh but still im using the car even though it shakes
ArvinSan25 When I said pump I meant compressor... sorry... That's a possibility... but not really sure... you need to ask him... I am not sure if you can increase the rpms when the AC is turned on using star... but probably you can... that would be a good solution...

Hi my smart fortwo key stopped working yesturday.. mine just completely not doing Anything. Mine don't make a Noise or blink 9 times.. the locksmith texted key and said the key is fine. But when you click any button on key it don't do anything at all.
Yeah i put new Battery in it. And locksmith said the key is fine. He done a Test on it. It was working fine.. then yesturday it stopped working.. only have 1 key
When he done scan and plugged computer into Car it come up.. Description ecm/tcm EOBD2 Services Then Under Value OSO14230. Then next line down said. Ecm/tcm Vin Number. Could Not Read Vin.
So get the Locksmitch To Re Program the key Again. I lost my original key. And Brough one on ebay.. he programmed it and its worked ok for 6 months till Yesturday..

Hi everyone and especially to Louis. I had a Smart Fortwo 450 today in an AKL scenario. This particular car came from Japan and when I tried to program a key, the SAM unit did not accept the key even though the diagnostic tool told me that adaptation was successful. After that I thought that I didn't had the right keys as I have a European key with 433 MHz. I know Japanese cars come with 315 MHz remote but the think is I searched everywhere for a 315 MHz key and they do NOT exist. *Has anybody came across anything like this?*

Has far as I am aware you can't... What you can however, is retrofit a switch to be able to turn it off... I never did it, so not really sure what is involved... but a quick google search should help you... Thank you for watching!

Hi I have the same problem with my 450 fortwo. I called locksmith and he says he cannot find a transponder signal and telling me that my key does not have (or lost) transponder and thats why it does not work. So my question is.. did this key really lost a transponder or could it be that locksmiths machine cannot detect this particular key's transponder? And also, If I order in a set of new keys, do you think he program this key? (He said he does not have a star machine though) He said its easy but I am a bit worried since it looks like it does not work with some machines as you say. Or should I just find someone who has a star machine? Thank you very much for the video though :)
Hi If you watched the entire video, you would see that I have explained that this key does not have a transponder.... Star obviously will re-syncronise the key, but it might be other tools out there capable of that... I would find someone with a star or with the correct knowledge and equipment.... can you please tell me what you are using to connect the laptop to the car? is it a MB Multiplexer? is it just a generic data cable? im getting quotes north of $1500 for 2 keys for my 450
Are these things available used? I only need it to program 2 keys. I shopped around and got 2 different people willing to do it for $1,000 for 2 keys. I can find the software online for free, I just don't know where to get the multiplexer cable.
Jason K Hi The keys cost (here in the UK...), about £70 each... And I am sure that any independent garage or Mercedes specialists will not charge all that to program it... I have 2006 450 which does acknowledge sync with SAM and Key. All indications show key code is being accepted. Problem is when the ignition is turned to start, and gear shift placed in Neutral, the dash display indicates gearbox is in Park. The dash will not indicate Neutral but stays in Park regardless of shifter position. . of course the vehicle does not start. Any suggestion from seeing this problem before?

Im sure your aware the SAM unit suffers from water ingress on that particular model of Smart. I to need Star, any recommendations ? Another quality video, definitely one of the best technical channels on RUclips. 👍

I got it on eBay, but the seller also has its own website... look for a seller with a good feedback and that inspires trust... I also got 12 months warranty!

I programmed the key and it started but when i turned off the engine then key stopped working again and key signs appears again. My technician says it is the key signal relay problem that comes under the handbrake panel. May be it was not passing the signal to the SAM or ECU. What do you suggest?

So hello from 2023. I have fortwo 2006 450 that has been out of commission for the last 4 years due to this problem. My location is not anywhere near UK or europe. So where can fet the software to unlock this stupid immobilizer. Can you bypass it all together. Because its an import car even the local mercedes dealer gave up.
Mercedes should be able to do it in no time... providing the issue is exactly the same... You can get the tool and the software to do it, a quick google search and you will find it... 👍👍👍
Chrisis Alkiviades I thought I have explained it quite well in the video... If you have the 9 times blinking then your key need re-syncronise... If not, you need to check first that the key is actually transmitting... Hope that helps...

Have a 2006 diesel and love it. Glad I have a retired mechanic specialist in Smart, Mercedes and BMW. Smart costs me $ 15 a week to drive to work.

I think you need to initialize the key... or something along those lines...
Read the Fault code, maybe the key receiver is broke

This happened on mine. The 9 flashing was telling me that the key battery needs replacement.

My smart 450 vibrates everytime i turned on the a/c and when i run it feels okay but when i slow down the car's engine vibrates and i also think that my gear shifts a little bit late than it used to. I also tried running it with the a/c off it runs actually good and fast but still i can feel the shifting is a bit rough and late. Do you think the problem is just the clutch? i already change the spark plugs so i dont really know whats causing it to vibrate

Turning the AC on pulls extra load from the engine, but this should increase the idling rpms to compensate... unless something is wrong with your AC pump... is the AC working ok?
Yes ac works fine and its cold. And your right it should increase the rpm but mine dont do that if i dont put gas when turning the ac on my engine shakes and when i let go of the gas the engine shakes. But before all of this happen. I let someone fix the car since the ac of my car sucks when i bought it. Im suspecting the mechanic guy might have change my ac compressor to a bigger one that makes heavier load on engine right? i havent check it though .Our country dont really have a smart dealership and a 600cc cars so he might have change it. So the problem right now is either the ac compressor or ac pump? i really dont know tbh but still im using the car even though it shakes

That's a possibility... but not really sure... you need to ask him...
I am not sure if you can increase the rpms when the AC is turned on using star... but probably you can... that would be a good solution...

Hi everyone and especially to Louis. I had a Smart Fortwo 450 today in an AKL scenario. This particular car came from Japan and when I tried to program a key, the SAM unit did not accept the key even though the diagnostic tool told me that adaptation was successful. After that I thought that I didn't had the right keys as I have a European key with 433 MHz. I know Japanese cars come with 315 MHz remote but the think is I searched everywhere for a 315 MHz key and they do NOT exist. *Has anybody came across anything like this?*

mercedes star c4, only wrong thing I can see that immobilizer not disarmed in engine live data when I try so start engine.

Well I guess it is if is open and closing the doors...
With c4 you should be able to delete all the keys and start again...
How do you turn of the traction
Has far as I am aware you can't...
What you can however, is retrofit a switch to be able to turn it off...
I never did it, so not really sure what is involved... but a quick google search should help you...

I have the same problem with my 450 fortwo.
I called locksmith and he says he cannot find a transponder signal and telling me that my key does not have (or lost) transponder and thats why it does not work.
So my question is.. did this key really lost a transponder or could it be that locksmiths machine cannot detect this particular key's transponder?
And also, If I order in a set of new keys, do you think he program this key? (He said he does not have a star machine though)
He said its easy but I am a bit worried since it looks like it does not work with some machines as you say.
Or should I just find someone who has a star machine?

If you watched the entire video, you would see that I have explained that this key does not have a transponder....
Star obviously will re-syncronise the key, but it might be other tools out there capable of that...
I would find someone with a star or with the correct knowledge and equipment....

Are these things available used? I only need it to program 2 keys. I shopped around and got 2 different people willing to do it for $1,000 for 2 keys. I can find the software online for free, I just don't know where to get the multiplexer cable.

The keys cost (here in the UK...), about £70 each...
And I am sure that any independent garage or Mercedes specialists will not charge all that to program it...
You can get the multiplexer for less than 500... eBay is a good place to start...

I have 2006 450 which does acknowledge sync with SAM and Key. All indications show key code is being accepted. Problem is when the ignition is turned to start, and gear shift placed in Neutral, the dash display indicates gearbox is in Park. The dash will not indicate Neutral but stays in Park regardless of shifter position. . of course the vehicle does not start. Any suggestion from seeing this problem before?

For a long time the star was on my wish list... until I got this car and because the MaxiSys couldn't do it, I decide was time to get one...
I got it on eBay, but the seller also has its own website... look for a seller with a good feedback and that inspires trust... I also got 12 months warranty!

We have a smart car that was donated to my school it will not start The person who had it before they parked it I believe it was running but it went to try to start it to bring it to the school would not start pretty sure it’s at for roughly a year what could it be it cranks all the glow plugs light up but it does take a long time for the dash glow plug symbol to go away on a hot sunny day because the diesel be bad and that’s why it’s not starting There’s not even a single sign of it want to start

This was the original key which just lost synchronisation with the sam...
To program a blank key, the procedure is slightly different...

Hello there... I have a smart roadster 2004. Need your advice. The key sign is blinking on meter but there is no button on key are working. I programmed the key and it started but when i turned off the engine then key stopped working again and key signs appears again. My technician says it is the key signal relay problem that comes under the handbrake panel. May be it was not passing the signal to the SAM or ECU. What do you suggest?

I was driving and the ABS and hand brake and the sign ! is all on together and the speed kilometer fell down to 0 but still I could drive and gear was fine. then when I stopped and made the gear on N and try to put it again on A or R I couldn't not, but then the lights went off. If you look carefully, while that is flashing, under the gear change window a number comes up... in this one -89 or something like that... that means that the service is overdue by 89 miles... ( I am 99.9% sure that that is miles...)

I have fortwo 2006 450 that has been out of commission for the last 4 years due to this problem. My location is not anywhere near UK or europe. So where can fet the software to unlock this stupid immobilizer. Can you bypass it all together. Because its an import car even the local mercedes dealer gave up.
Mercedes should be able to do it in no time... providing the issue is exactly the same...
You can get the tool and the software to do it, a quick google search and you will find it...

I thought I have explained it quite well in the video...
If you have the 9 times blinking then your key need re-syncronise...
If not, you need to check first that the key is actually transmitting...
