There was a Silverhawks reboot in the works. Unfortunately one of the writers from the original show, Steve Perry, was murdered while working on the reboot. Steve had been part of a fan forum called New Hawk Haven. He was friends with one of the moderators. Steve was quite friendly and would chat with those of us in the fan forum. He was really excited about the project. The moderator that was friends with Steve broke the news to the rest of us about his death. It was so heart breaking because he had just gotten custody of his child. I miss Steve to this day. He was such an easy going guy to talk to and so creative. May he rest in Paradise.

I can only hope there's a better place when we die cause he deserves to be in it.. the works he made will bring joy to millions of kids for decades to come. Silverhawks, Thundercats, He-Man, Bionic Six, Brave Starr, Ninja Turtles and the list goes on. Every Saturday morning starting at about 5am there was a stretch of great cartoons that lasted till about 1pm and after that my siblings and I played outside till a little past dark. I remember how the rank-and-file monster machines would sometimes snark at each other the way the battle droids from Clone Wars would. Jace and the “Lightning League” (as he named them) would actually seem to make progress in their goals to destroy the monster machines and rescue Jace’s father from wherever he was. Wasn’t terribly fond of the sails on their spaceship, though.

Silverhawks is indeed very stylish and original. I think its weakness, and why it never fully caught on, was that its backstory and plot were kind of half baked. Thundercats started with a strong orientation story and grew from there. Silverhawks and its villains just kind of existed without much structure. It needed stronger world building. But I am a big fan still. Love the characters, the aesthetic, and the animation. Imaginative ideas that just needed something relatable to anchor to.

Mon*star is my second favorite villain from the 80s period ( First being Cobra Commander ). I even got an action figure of him. It was really cool to see him made a cameo in the Thundercats 2011.
And here's something interesting to know, in the cancelled second season of the 2011 series, there would've been a Silverhawks crossover, and also an origin story of Mon*star on how he got his transformation.
Apparently he was trying to auction off a stone, where Mumm ra appear to him and snatch the stone, before Mumm ra stabbed Mon*star eye, giving him the signature transformation ability.

I wanted to be a Silverhawk so bad as a kid. The fantasy of flying around with those laser shoulder things captured my imagination like nothing else at the time.

Super7 is making the cartoon version of Silverhawks.
Right now they have 3 waves up for preorder.
The first wave is: Quick Silver, Steel Heart, Buzzsaw and Monstar (super form)
BBTS has them if you're interested.

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED this show (and, of course, Thundercats & Tiger Sharks) growing up! I'd have friends pretending to "wing it!" on the trampoline. :-P
I even had a toy Copper Kid and Flashback! (My word, I actually miss them.)

Loved it when I was a kid and still have fond memories, definitely an episodic kids 'toon though. Hope the reboot is incredible and goes beyond the earlier teams.

I remember a string of episodes where one of the silverhawks got transported through time and he kept trying to make his way back to his original time. I never saw how that storyline concluded.

Wait, so Bluegrass gave up his human body, but didn't get any powers for doing so? Just a fancy guitar? That seems a bit unfair.

This was my favorite cartoon in the 80s, I had the lunch box and the Silverhawks toys, but nobody knew what it was until decades later when the internet finally brought it to peoples attention, I'm glad it's getting recognition finally.

I loved this show, and still do. But I do not want to see a modern reboot, not with the way so many modern reboots have gone. I don't want my fond memories ruined.

Silverhawks was pretty popular in my kindergarten. Kids would bring the toys to school and we'd talk about yesterday's episode. It's popularity never seemed widespread but we loved it at my school. Copper Kid was a hot commodity.
