- Just the puppies in the kitchen playing. Sophia was watching from the chair most of the time, lol. Mommy wanted to come in, too, but she went on the ground, and she needs to be disinfected/sanitized before she can have contact with them. She could have picked up something outside. She has been using the deck to do her potty since the babies were born. I have all the Moms do that so they don't bring something into the babies.
Coccidia doesn't normally bother a healthy adult because they it just passes through them like food does. In a puppy, however, it will give them diaherrea. Sadly, with severe diaherrea, the puppy will dehydrate quickly, and without medicine, it would be fatal. Can't be too careful with the little munchkins. Parvo virus can live in soil for 10 years. I do let the puppies out on the deck, but I wait until they've had the 3rd vaccination and then give it at least 2 weeks to kick in before I let any of my puppies on soil. We've been here for over 10 years, so the soil in my backyard should be clear for parvo, but we have a lot of wildlife that passes through our backyard, which means there could be some parasites out there.
The furbabies are dewormed when they are 4, 6, and 8 weeks old. The dewormer will take care of most things, and if they had anything, they would show signs of illness.
Our vet, Dr. Matt will be giving the babies their health check and first vaccination on September 19, which is this coming Thursday. You will have your furbaby's health record signed by Dr. Matt certifying their health and vaccination.
The babies are doing great, and even little guy is eating kibble and not looking for Mom to top him up. He has a full belly, and he ate it himself. I've been hand feeding him for about 2 to 3 days. I use my ninja shake maker to grind up the puppy kibble. I get about 1/8 cup of Sasi spring water and warm it up like you would a baby's bottle of milk. I only use 1 heaping teaspoon of grounds and add the warmed water a little at a time, giving it time to absorb the liquid. It all depends on how young they are for how soupy I make it. Little guy seems to really prefer it thick like gravy. I am so happy because he has a full belly without Mommy's help. He's growing up. They are all doing awesome.
Have a great weekend!!
