  • Rot in the Hollow - Sixteenth Echo
    by Morne Liebenberg
Shattered promises, whispers in the night,
You swore allegiance, but you painted black the light.
I watched you decay, like ashes in the breeze,
A twisted reflection, your darkness brought me to my knees.
You promised me sickness, you promised me health,
But all that remains is your insidious stealth.
In this hollow of corpses, where the ghosts lay still,
Your betrayal has bound me, I’m forfeit to the thrill.
Every jagged breath, like shards of broken glass,
Cut through my spirit, left no room to grasp.
You danced on the ruins of all that I was,
A puppet in your play, lost to the void because...
You promised me sickness, you promised me health,
But all that remains is your insidious stealth.
In this hollow of corpses, where the ghosts lay still,
Your betrayal has bound me, I’m forfeit to the thrill.
The stench of your silence, all that’s left of dreams,
In the coffins of hope, I drown in your schemes.
You laid me in shadow, you forged my demise,
With every beat lost, I’m wrapped in your lies.
So let the darkness cradle these shattered bones,
In a world without mercy, where the soul never roams.
You promised me sickness, now I rot in this hell,
To the stories we’ll never tell.
