    It seems like the perfect aesthetic for a trumpet player in a flashy kind of small ensemble that performs in public. I feel like it would also work very well as part of a mariachi ensemble. If I'm not mistaken, the engraving seems reminiscent of the kind of decorations common on the uniforms they traditionally wear, and the black and gold aesthetic is quite striking and would be even more so with the gold engraving reflecting bright sunlight.

      It's an aesthetic that works really well on saxophones, but seems like a niche product here.

    It reminds me of the decorations that were common on old safes and vaults from the mid-19th century until the early 20th century.

    According to the singersday website, this trumpet costs $US500. That's not too bad. The quote for shipping to Australia, however, was $US700 (just the shipping), which seems to me a trifle excessive.

      @@singersdaywoodwindandbrass5307 Not according to the Cart Checkout on your website. I've just checked that again, and the Checkout still gives a total of $US1200.00 for this trumpet and the shipping (still a shipping charge of $US700 to Australia - shipping to the USA is free, apparently, but not to residents of Australia). If somebody at Singer's Day Woodwind and Brass wants to change that, excellent! But there's no way that I can remove that shipping charge from the Checkout.

    The valve caps lack knurling because they are tall, and have enough surface area to provide sufficient grip. I had a Courtois like that.

    Great review Trent. Is the heavier weight of Bach mega tone mouthpieces have the same idea?More sound(noise). I know that a Bach 1g trombone mouthpiece must weigh half as much as a 6 1/2 al. Looks the same on the outside, but the 1G has much less metal on the inside. So that a Bach mega tone 1G should make more sound with less effort.

    • @notcharlamagne1606
      @notcharlamagne1606 2 года назад +3

      more mass does not equal more sound. It affects the colour and support of the sound being produced. Also tends to help people achieve a darker tone! if you want a better explanation, check out Jontalkstrumpet on youtube, specifically his "gigatone" mouthpiece video. Great at explaining what weight does do the trumpets sound.

    Interesting to see how much this has in common with other Chinese-built student/intermediate trumpets, I was working on a Gemeinhardt TR-200-SP yesterday and I can say for sure that they came out of the same factory. The only differences I noted beyond finish are the valve caps, mouthpiece receiver (both being heavyweight on this rather than Yamaha or Bach clones), pinky hook, and draw knobs on the first and second slides. The Gemeinhardts have been relatively consistent, though I noticed the one I most recently worked on had a substantially oval profile at the middle of the bell crook (something I haven't run into on other ones), so there's definitely some inconsistencies from the factory. I'm curious what Singers Day does for quality control on theirs.

      @@TrentHamilton awesome thank you! Funny, the Danish title is more or less the same. The Danish title in English would be "The silver threads in your golden hair." It is of course not uncommon in the Danish (and generally Nordic/Germanic) music tradition to translate English (or any of the Germanic languages) songs into the locally spoken language and making it our own. This was especially done in the 20's-60's but is still done now in the schlager tradition.
